Bible Verse of The Day – 3-9-24

Psalm 50:10-12 (NKJV) 10 For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know all the birds of the mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine. 12 “If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness.

God owns it all!

What can we give to Him who has everything?

The one thing that God loves is an obedient heart of praise; He loves to have our thanks and He loves to have our worship!

But how can we give Him such worship, praise and thanks if our heart is made of stone?

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

When we allow God to change us, He softens our heart by His word. He teaches us how to make righteous decisions.

As we call on Him, He will answer us, showing us great and mighty things that we do not know.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

For we have been created by Him to do good works. We are His workmanship!

Let us give Him praise today and worship Him from a heart that is truly grateful for Who He is and all that He has done!

Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-15-24

Psalm 73:26 (NKJV) 26 My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

As I prayed and asked God to help me draw closer to Him, closer than I’ve ever been, I realized I will have to deny more of myself. My flesh will need more adjustments to keep me from failing at times.

I remember saying something silly in a conversation one day. Everyone laughed and thought it was hilarious. I, on the other hand, was immediately convicted. Even though what I had said wasn’t a bad thing, it stood out to me. Like, pay attention!

It kept needling me to the point where I finally asked myself, “why do you feel the need to have to be silly at times?”.

I realized it was a part of my flesh, my character, and that I actually enjoyed it!

You know, it’s a funny thing. When we ask God for something we’d better be ready to give up what it may sometimes take for Him to answer our prayer.

It was time for me to get a handle on this silliness, because it tended to catch me off guard, and I felt like I had no control over it at times.

It was a part of my flesh that I would let run freely because I enjoyed it, but I had to get serious about not letting it control me.

In moments when we are feeling convicted of something we did, the worst thing we can do is go into defense mode and try to explain it away. There is a reason we are feeling convicted.

Let God put His finger on these things in our lives.

The time will come when certain things we do out of habit or that are part of our personality, may need to change. It’s all part of growing and maturing as a child of God.

Remember, God is our strength forever.

He will help us get a handle on those things that have been a part of our character for years, and that may need adjusting, so they don’t cause us to fail repeatedly.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-13-20

Luke 5:31 (NKJV) 31 Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

God is the ultimate physician. He is a healer, a surgeon, and everything else we need when it comes to our bodies and our spirits.

I had surgery recently to remove a lump from my back. It was nothing life-threatening, and I am fine now 🙂

But there was a period of a few weeks immediately afterward that I experienced some discomfort that wasn’t very nice. In time, though, it all healed up and I am back to 100%.

The funny part is that the surgery itself was supposed to be very minor, taking only about 45 minutes. Because of this, and because I wanted to keep the cost down, I opted to stay awake and have them use only local anesthesia.

Well, 90 minutes into it, I was questioning my decision, as the surgeon dug deeper and deeper to remove the small tumor. When I began to feel her tools hitting my rib cage, I was seriously questioning my sanity!

Thankfully, though, it all went well and, as I said, I healed up very nicely.

That got me to thinking, though, about how God “does surgery” on us sometimes.

God is the ultimate surgeon. He operates with precision, removing the things that we have given Him permission to remove. And He does it with perfection, as He does with everything.

Just like medical surgery, it can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable. If what He is removing has been there a long time, or if we have become attached to it, it might be very uncomfortable.

We might even feel like there is a void, an empty space, where the thing was that He removed.

But He is faithful to help us heal up and be even better than we were before His “surgery”.

Oh, and that void that is left after the surgery? He will fill that empty space with Himself if we let Him.

And over time, as we follow His instructions, not only do we heal, but we learn that the end result is worth whatever pain and suffering we had to endure.

Will we have scars? Yes, probably. But just think of them as part of the cost of winning a battle.

So, if God shows us something in ourselves that He needs to remove, it’s OK. There is nothing to fear. We just need to trust Him with it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-19

Matthew 7:3 (NKJV) 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

Are we being real with ourselves? Are we facing those things in us that need some attention? Or do we act like nothing is wrong?

Being real with ourselves is the first step to getting healed and set free.

When we see some of the things in us that we prefer to overlook, ugh. It is kind of depressing. Some things are shocking. It’s like, “do I really do that?”.

But, eventually it catches up to us if we come across the right person and they are not afraid to speak up.

Don’t shun everyone that tells us things about ourselves that we don’t like to hear. They are usually saying what everyone else is thinking.

Look in the mirror from time to time and make sure we fix the things that need attention.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-29-19

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Sometimes getting the change we are asking for requires us to make changes in the way we’ve been doing things.

If we are really serious about wanting change we will press in and not listen to our emotions, but we will hear what the Spirit is saying.

We will not talk our self out of what we need to do. Instead, we will step forward and say, “yes, I’m ready and willing”.

“I will put more effort into stopping whatever it is I need to stop, and lean on God to help me with whatever else I cannot do on my own.”

Time to say no to cigarettes. No to alcohol. No to spending foolishly. No to gossip. No more holding back my tithes and offerings. No more using foul language. No more watching movies that contain naked body parts, sexual scenes, profanity, etc.

If we want the same old results then we can keep doing what we have been doing. But if we want change, we need to start with ourselves.

Let’s seek God for the changes we need to make. Let Him renew our minds, as His word tells us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-5-16

James 1:22 (NKJV) 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

If we just listen and never do anything with what we hear or learn, what good will come from it? Applying it is how we get results and see changes come; Good changes!

As we read God’s word, this is Him sharing His heart with us. The conviction we feel at times, even though it can hurt or make us squirm, is Him trying to help us. He’s showing us where we may need to change things up a bit. He is not condemning us for what we’ve done or not done, but simply showing us the truth of the matter and how to fix it.

It’s up to us to listen and then do it, not listen and then say, “well, I’m still a baby Christian, I need some more time for that one”.

We all have things within ourselves we need to be tending to and changing. And not one of us is better at doing it than the other. We all have to work hard and It takes constant effort for sure.

Let’s focus today on the things we know we need to be doing. And in the meantime, keep loving each other, because we are all working toward trying to get it right. Amen.
