Bible Verse of The Day – 6-27-26

Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV) 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

God has given us all something to do while we are here, and that is to shine His light in the place where He has brought us into.

It’s not always easy, is it?

It takes a lot of discipline to walk this out. It takes a lot of focus and sacrifice. It takes listening to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and moving when necessary.

One day last week, I was sitting outside a coffee shop while Pastor Curt went in to grab our drinks.

As I was sitting there in the car, I heard “go talk to that lady”.

There was a woman sitting outside, on the patio. I have seen her there other times but had never spoken to her. She is usually there alone.

My first reaction when I heard this was, “no that’s not God.”

Then my second reaction was, “I don’t want to embarrass her”. I will admit that I could come up with a million excuses about why I shouldn’t go over to her.

But, no matter how many excuses I had, the prompting did not leave me.

So, I quickly got out of the car and walked up to her. She was just sitting at the table, reading her book.

I had no idea what I was going to say.

As I approached her, I said, “hi!” She replied, “hello”. I said, “I was just sitting in my car waiting on my husband to come out with our drinks, and God spoke to me”.

“He wanted me to come over to you and tell you you’re beautiful.”

Well, her eyes lit up. And I said, “He told me to tell you, “He loves you.”

Her face said it all. I knew I was done. She said to me, “thank you”. I told her “you’re welcome, have a nice day.” She replied, ”you too!”

I quickly walked back to my car, got inside, and I was shaking.

I was like, “phew, that’s over”.

After I calmed down, I thought about it. I have no idea why God used me at that very moment to say these words to her. And I may never know.

But what I do know is I am so happy to be a part of what God wanted for that short time.

If anything, I hope for one second she thought about God and His love for her! It would make it all worth it.

What is God asking you to do today? Do it!

Yes, we may have to endure a short moment of discomfort, and we may be afraid at times.

But whatever you do, don’t be hiding all that LIGHT inside of you.

God is calling us to step out and let His light shine in the darkness!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-1-26

Matthew 5:16 (LSB) 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

What Jesus said here is so often overlooked by us, His disciples, that it has fallen through the cracks on a large scale.

And here are a few of the reasons why.

Shining the light of Christ through our own lives can be uncomfortable. It’s not something that comes naturally for most of us.

Sometimes we are required to do or say things that are different than what we’re used to doing or saying.

Sometimes shining the light of God is inconvenient. It doesn’t fit into our pre-planned schedule or agenda.

We may not have specifically planned to be the light at that moment when it is required. So, we bypass it for the sake of convenience.

And sometimes we have preconceived ideas or perceptions of people we are called to minister to.

Maybe we’ve judged them by their appearance. Maybe we don’t like the way they carry themselves, or the language they use.

So, we waltz on past them despite the promptings of the Holy Spirit to do otherwise.

If that’s the case, we need to learn to let God show us how to minister to them by His Spirit, not by our own understanding.

You see, we must remember that it was neither comfortable or convenient for Jesus as He was taking lashings, being spit upon, slapped and punched, or having nails driven through His hands and feet for our sake.

So let us step out of our comfort zones, taking the hard, uncomfortable steps, and do what must be done to obey what Jesus has told us.

Will it always be easy? No, it won’t.

But will it please God as we do it? Yes, it will. And that is what counts.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-12-25

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

What is the purpose of letting our light shine?

It’s not for us to be seen, but that our Father be glorified. It’s a sacrifice we need to be willing to make.

When life is going good, we are good! But we all know that trials come. And we don’t get to stop shining when this happens.

It’s part of growing and maturing in our walk with God.

We’ve got to keep our position…

Those good works have to remain good even when we are struggling!

They have to be seen even when we are tired!

We have to push through the chaff and let good works be visible even when life is taking it’s toll on us!

We won’t lie. it is very challenging.

Can we be steady in this even in times of difficulty?

Will we give it our all and then some?

Are we in a place today where we say, “I don’t have it in me, I’m dealing with my own situation and that light is growing dim?”

Today, is a good day to ask God for His supernatural strength to revive us.

Psalm 85:6 (NKJV) 6 Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?

Bring revival in our hearts once again, oh Lord!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-2-17

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

What makes our light shine before men? When we do good works.

That’s right, when we step out and do something good for someone. It doesn’t have to be something big, something expensive, something great. Just something good, kind, and done with the right intentions.

What are right intentions? Doing something good and not looking for or expecting anything at all in return.

It can be a very small deed, but with the right intentions it will cause it to stand out and shine big.

The more good things we do with the right intentions, the more our light will shine, and the more God will be glorified in it. Amen.

As we walk out our door today, listen, watch and pray for an opportunity to do a good work, that the light in us will be able to shine brightly, giving God all the Glory!
