Bible Verse of The Day – 1-16-21

Micah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

I love how Micah lists the things that the Lord requires us to do.

The first one being “to do justly”.

This means to do things in a way that is well founded; based on good evidence or reason, justifiable, and according to what is morally right or fair.

Second, we are to love mercy.

To show mercy means that we may be in a situation, and we have every right to punish someone for what they did against us, but we choose (here’s the mercy part) to forgive and let it go.

When we fully understand what God did for us, this will be easy to do. And we will actually enjoy doing the same for others.

This is not something God forces on us; it is however, something He would love to see us grow in on our own.

Learning to love walking in mercy produces such goodness and grace flowing out from us. These are very good qualities indeed.

Third, and very important, we need to walk humbly with our God.

This comes when we fully understand Who He is, and we begin to trust Him with our daily life and let Him lead us.

As we are growing up, we are taught to be the opposite. We are taught to do everything ourselves.

But, as we mature in the Lord, and in our relationship with Him, we will find ourselves running things by Him more often than usual.

This causes us to have a grateful and humble attitude toward our Almighty Father.

As we humble ourselves, He will raise us up, and things will work out accordingly in every situation.

1 Peter 5:6 (NKJV) 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time…

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-15-17

Luke 10:37 (NKJV) 37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

Showing mercy each day is a great way to live. It’s so fulfilling.

We should make sure that we are there for others. We shouldn’t ignore the fact that they are going through a hard season. But we should make every attempt to be there for them if they need us.

If we would just help each other, reach out even if it is inconvenient for us, it will make this world a better place.

We all have a busy life. There are always going to be those things we need to get done, but that is no excuse.

Now, sometimes we can’t physically be there for someone for various reasons. But, being there for them through prayer is powerful.

That’s right. James 5:16 (NKJV) says that fervent prayer avails much. So, if we can’t physically be there, don’t dismiss it. Pray. We are doing much through our prayers!

And there are other ways as well. We can call, we can email and we can text! We can send a card, a gift, flowers, etc. There are so many ways we can reach a person nowadays. It’s actually harder to think of a way not to reach them.

God may be laying someone on our heart right now to reach out to. Don’t ignore it. Take the step and do something kindhearted. You will make a difference in their life today.

Dear God in Heaven,

Please show me who it is You want me to reach out to today and how to do it. Help me to make this a part of my daily walk. I’m willing.

Help me Lord to be sensitive to You and Your promptings, so that I can make a difference in someone’s life by showing them Your mercy.

In Jesus’ name I ask. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-26-16

Matthew 18:32-33 (NKJV) 32 Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’

Does this remind us of ourselves? Have we maybe not shown mercy to someone else, even though we have been shown mercy in our own lives?

It can be so easy to look at others and pass judgment on someone based on one little tiny tidbit of their life that we see. Sometimes we will lack mercy when it comes to the life of another person in an area of their life where we have received mercy.

Maybe we see someone under the influence of alcohol and look down our noses at them, even though God rescued us from alcohol. Or maybe we show no mercy for someone who pulls out in front of us in traffic, even though we have done the very same thing on occasion.

We could go on and on with many, many examples of this, but it’s probably safe to say that we all get the point already.

So we just want to give a gentle reminder that God requires us to show the same mercy to others that He has shown to us.

James 2:13 (NKJV) 13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
