Bible Verse of The Day – 3-30-18

Ephesians 5:13-14 (NKJV) 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

Nothing can stay hidden forever. Sooner or later, all things are exposed to light. Light will always cause hidden things to be seen.

As humans, we walk in darkness until God shines His light on us and we allow it to expose who we are; sinners in need of a Savior.

Sometimes we may try to hide, to avoid letting God’s light shine on us because we’re afraid and ashamed of what will be seen.

God’s light exposes evil in whoever it shines on. It’s not so much that He shines His light for the sole purpose of exposing evil. He shines it to remove darkness from our lives. What we do with what is exposed is up to us.

As God’s light touches us, it has the power to be life-changing. It wakes us from our slumber, our dead spiritual condition, and breathes life into our spirit, making us brand new!

This is the greatest miracle of all, that He calls to us, “Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead”!

And as we listen and heed His call, Jesus gives us light, and gives us life anew. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-18

Psalm 30:5 (NKJV) 5 …Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Are you weeping, going through a trial or a dark season in your life?

Are you wrestling with something that’s trying to take you down or knock you backwards?

Do you feel like you take two steps forward and three steps back?

This happens to all of us at times. And yes, sometimes it can make us feel like we’re completely in the dark. Sometimes it can even make us feel like we’ve been abandoned and God doesn’t even hear our cries.

But, this is not the case. It’s the farthest thing from the truth!

No season and no trial lasts forever. Each one is different, and each one endures for different periods of time.

But one thing is for sure; Joy will come!

It may not always come when we think it should. It might not come how we think it should. But if our trust is in God, joy will come with our victory.

We need to hold fast to God and His promises at all times, especially during times of darkness and weeping. Our trust needs to be in Him alone!

And in due time, when He knows it’s right, He will bring the darkness to an end, the sun will shine and our tears will be dried. Amen!

Praise Him even in the darkness. Light is coming soon.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-6-17

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

For many years I looked at this verse and thought that Jesus meant that those who follow Him would not walk in the darkness of sin.

But God recently showed me that there is much more to it than that.

No, we should not walk in sinful ways. But in this specific verse, Jesus was referring to not walking in darkness, from a different point of view.

Here’s what this verse really means:

If we follow Him, we will not stumble around in darkness. We will not have a lack of light in our lives. We will always have His light to guide us, no matter what we face.

This is, or should be, a huge comfort to every one of us who are followers of Christ!

Darkness tries to hide things that we need to see. Darkness tries to obscure the truth. And darkness tries to keep us from finding our way.

But Jesus himself has promised us that darkness can never again hide or obscure anything from us if we follow Him. The key is to keep our eyes on Him, and not on anything else.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-17

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

When we have Jesus we don’t want to be involved in things that He speaks against.

We feel it when we attempt to do something that is wrong, and this causes us to turn from it because of our love for Him.

We know when we participate in or do something that is dark because of the conviction we feel when we do it.

Sometimes mistakes happen and we realize afterwards that what we did was wrong, and we wish we hadn’t done it. That is what repentance is for. We can go to Him and ask for forgiveness, and He will forgive us.

Some people may think “well, I have done something really terrible, and I knew better”. Well, we probably did know better. But just knowing something doesn’t do much. Our actions and our knowledge have to come together, and sometimes they don’t. And when that happens we do  just the opposite of what we KNOW we are supposed to do.

If there is a desire in us to continue to do the things that we know deep down are wrong, then there is a very good chance that we have not surrendered completely to Him.

Christ cannot do a complete work in us until we completely surrender. We can’t pick and choose what we surrender and what we hold on to. Those things that we choose to hold onto will continue to pull us back into darkness.

We need to give it all to Him.

Give those things to Him today and let Him help us to turn completely from them, that we may walk in the light.
