Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-23

Psalm 91:1 (NKJV) 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

We are so blessed as His child. There is protection under the shadow of the Almighty!

We may be thinking of all the things that are coming against us right now. Maybe we are drained, lost and confused, trying to live in this world. Nothing is making sense to our heads.

Look up and know that if you are a child of God, you are in the shadow of the Mosh High. You don’t need to fret, try to make sense of what’s happening or worry about anything.

You may say, “but everything is so different than what I am used to. Many things have changed and I’ve lost so much. I still can’t wrap my head around the change. My thoughts keep running back to the past, keeping me from entering the future. I don’t even care about things the way I used to”.

Get to that secret place today. Let God cover you and help you to sort everything out. Don’t stay in the state of confusion and depression.

He will lead you and great shall be His peace.

Isaiah 54:13 (NKJV) 13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children.

Thank you, God, for that secret place with You!

Bible Verse of the Day – 1-11-23

Micah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

In the chapters and verses leading up to the verse above, Micah was issuing a long list of prophecies and warnings to Israel for their unfaithfulness to God.

He listed their transgressions. He spoke firmly to them as a means of chastising them and humbling them.

And then, in verses 6:1 through 6:7, he engaged in a series of rhetorical questions, as though speaking for the people of Israel.

The summation of the questions he asked revolved around how the Israelites could redeem themselves before God and make up for their unfaithfulness.

In those verses there were many things listed that might seem to make sense to someone looking at this from a natural or a carnal point of view.

Again, we need to remember that Micah knew the answer(s) to his rhetorical questions. But he wanted to spell this out so the Israelites could easily understand it and be convicted in their hearts.

And then, in verse 8, he laid it all out for them to see the truth about what was really required of them.

Let’s paraphrase it.

He said, People of Israel, He (God) has shown you what is right and what is good.

But let me remind you what the Lord requires of you!

He requires that you live justly (rightly, properly, righteously), doing what you know is right and true.

He wants you to love mercy (lovingkindness, compassion, grace, forgiveness), and walk in such things each day.

And, finally, walk humbly before your God.

You see, God just wanted them to walk these things out in a sincere way that showed that they did so because it was what was in their hearts, wanting to please Him, not because they rigidly tried to follow a set of rules simply by rote.

And the same applies to you and me. God wants our whole hearts. He wants us to live for Him because it’s what is in our hearts; something that we desire because we love Him, not simply because we feel guilty if we don’t do it.

You may ask, “how can I get there? How can I reach that point in my relationship and my walk with God?”.

And to that we simply answer with the words of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-7-22

Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV) 13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Over the last few months, you may have noticed that our devotionals have focused much more on topics related to strengthening our walk with God and ensuring our salvation.

There’s a reason for that.

It’s absolutely necessary due to the seasons through which we are walking and living.

Salvation isn’t something that we can take lightly. It is, instead, something that we need to take more seriously than anything else that we will ever endeavor to do in our lives here on earth.

Our eternal destiny relies on it.

And we are the only ones who can make the decision to follow Christ, and then make the decisions that are required to walk that out daily.

We are all unique. No two people will have the same walk with God. And this is by design.

Despite the differences, though, there will be things in common; a sincere heart, a broken (contrite) spirit, humility, willingness to repent, willingness to seek God’s forgiveness, willingness to make change as God directs, and willingness to forgive others.

This is a lifelong process. It takes effort every day. Some days we will nail it. Other days, maybe not so much.

But God’s mercy is bigger than our failures. And through Christ we can do all things (Philippians 4:13).

So, seek Him daily with your whole heart. Press into Him. Put Him first in everything. And if you fall down, get back up, repent and let God point you in the right direction.

Do whatever is necessary to keep your feet on the narrow path. For He is faithful to lead us if we let Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-9-17

Psalm 61:3-4 (NKJV) 3 For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. 4 I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.

The best way to have a personal walk with God is to open up and tell Him what is going on in your personal life, in detail. Keep Him up to date, so to speak, letting Him in on whatever changes are happening, and asking Him for advice.

Some people are very sincere in their love for God, but they have not yet discovered how to let Him help them in their personal, everyday walk.

He doesn’t just want to be around when there are problems. He doesn’t want to wait until major things are happening and we can’t find an answer to solve them ourselves. He wants us to walk with Him even before there are situations that arise.

For example, we may think we are bothering God if we go to Him with our requests or just to share everyday things with Him. Or we may think our situation is not drastic enough to go to Him for answers. We may think we have to wait until we go to church to speak to Him. We might even think that when we are in church God can hear us better.

This is not the case!

The more open and honest we are with God, the more personal He can be with us on a daily basis.

Take some time and make your life known to Him, including the littlest details. Spill it out and get free from the things that are trying to keep us in bondage.

God is there for us, all day and night, ready to listen at all times. Don’t be afraid.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-15

Proverbs 3:1-2 (NKJV) 1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; 2 For length of days and long life and peace they will add to you.

These words were written to be used as guidance for young people, and they are so very good for a young person to abide by.

But for those of us who are not a young child any longer, they are also still very powerful words!

If we were to look at these words from an adult point of view, they might mean something like this; Even as you grow older, always remember to stay close to God and walk in His ways. And even as the waves of life’s storms beat against you, you will have peace and your life will be full.

People of God, press in to Him and learn of Him. He is our source, not just for wisdom, but for everything that makes this life worth living.
