Bible Verse of The Day – 5-1-26

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

In my walk as a child of God, these two verses have become an anthem of sorts for my life.

We all encounter many things that we may not understand, including things about our walk with God. And those things can sometimes wreak havoc with our minds if we can’t understand or grasp them intellectually. Sometimes they just don’t make sense to our heads.

But God has taught me that this is all part of living our lives by His Spirit, not by fleshly, carnal means.

God operates outside the boundaries of human understanding. He is not limited by our ability to understand or comprehend what He shows us or tells us.

He will show us at times what He means. But that isn’t always the case. And we have to be OK with that.

Sometimes we simply must trust Him when we don’t understand.

He is God. We are not.

Will we spend our lives trying to tell God how things should be done so we can be comfortable and feel safe in our minds?

Or will we trust Him even when we can’t see it as He does?

We must choose. Let us choose wisely 🙏🏻

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-30-26

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 pray without ceasing…

This is very powerful three-word advice from the Apostle Paul.

If we want serious change in our life, we must pray.

We shouldn’t wait for things to happen first, and then pray to undo or fix them. We pray first, and we praise God as we go! For He is faithful to bring answers!

When we pray and have faith in God, He’s not afraid to show up on our behalf. If our faith is there, He will be there!

Matthew 17:20 (NKJV) 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Prayer is not just about us getting things for ourselves.

Continual prayer with God builds a beautiful relationship. We develop a closer walk with Him, and our faith grows even deeper.

I have been through many things in this life, and I can honestly say that without God I can do nothing. He has gotten me through the worst of the worst, and I stand today because of answered prayers.

These prayers went out before trouble came knocking.

You may say, “well, how do you know what to pray if you don’t know what you will face at times?”

We may not know. But the Holy Spirit does. And He will guide our tongue if we let Him.

2 Samuel 23:2 (NKJV) 2 “The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-29-26

2 Corinthians 5:7 (LSB) 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight—

We walk by faith. We hear this verse repeated frequently. It has almost become cliche.

But, despite its frequent over-use, it is a foundational truth that we can’t ignore or allow to become mundane or meaningless in our lives as followers of Christ.

It is, after all, a very foundational and necessary truth that can’t be tossed aside just because we hear it so often.

But what does this phrase, walk by faith, really mean?

Well, let’s look first at the word, sight.

Our first instinct is to think of our eyesight; what our eyes see.

While this is part of the equation, it also refers to appearance. We don’t walk by what something appears to be or not to be. This goes beyond eyesight.

So, with this said, what does walking by faith mean?

It means moving when we don’t necessarily know what we are moving toward.

We follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, one step at a time.

It means taking steps even when we can’t see where our feet might land.

We trust that God is directing our steps, and that each one will bring us closer to where He desires us to be.

This is not something to take lightly. It’s much more important than most of us realize.

Everything we do as a believer must be rooted in and based on faith and trust in God, through Christ.

One of the most well-known Biblical examples of walking by faith was in Abraham’s life when he was instructed by God to “go to a place that I will show you” (Genesis 12:1).

There is no “secret formula” for this. We must grow in our faith. And that comes only by maturing in Christ, learning to hear Him, and then obeying what we are told.

Most importantly, we must understand that our faith pleases God. In fact, it is impossible to please Him without faith.

Hebrews 11:6 (LSB) 6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who draws near to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

So, let us draw near to Him, press into Him, and allow Him to teach us what it is that pleases Him, taking steps that we have never taken before, even when it means not knowing where our feet might land.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-26

Proverbs 19:8 (NKJV) 8 He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good.

Getting God’s wisdom and understanding is something we should be excited about!

As we read His words, there are all kinds of instructions for us.

These are not just any instructions, from any person, but the wisdom and understanding from our Creator; the One who made the worlds!

He gave us the book with His instructions!

There are answers there for everything we may have to walk through in this life.

The world may say ignorance is bliss. Why is that?

Because they think not knowing the truth about certain things will protect them in some way.

But this is not true. And especially when it comes to God’s word. Being ignorant or having a lack of wisdom is dangerous to our soul.

Get His word out. Find wisdom and understanding for what you or your child wrestles with today.

God is faithful to lead you to the right spot! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-27-26

John 15:4 (LSB) 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit from itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

In chapter 15 of the book of John, Jesus shares something with the disciples that we all need to see, comprehend, and receive on a personal level.

It is critically important for each of us to understand this.

In the verse above, Jesus begins teaching His disciples about the importance of “bearing fruit”.

He didn’t simply mention it casually and move on. He expounded on it thoroughly, being sure they understood it.

We must understand it also.

In John 15 alone, Jesus used the phrase “bear fruit” at least 8 times.

Again, His repeated emphasis on this phrase should cause us to pay close attention.

And as we study this, it becomes clear that bearing fruit is an essential part of what God desires for our lives. Check out what else Jesus said about it.

John 15:2 (LSB) 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He cleans it so that it may bear more fruit.

The Amplified Bible states it this way:

John 15:2 (AMPC) 2 Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.

God “takes away” (trims, removes) any branch that does not bear (stops bearing) fruit.

For those who bear fruit, He cleanses and prunes them repeatedly so they may bear more fruit!

By now we should be beginning to see and understand the importance of bearing fruit!

And it is safe to say, that if we look closely at everything that Jesus said about it, bearing fruit should be the goal of every child of God.

Further, it is our God-intended purpose in life.

So, if we have been searching for or wondering about our purpose, we have found it 🙏🏻

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-26

Matthew 7:4 (NKJV) 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?

I remind myself often of this verse. It is one of those that really keeps me in my place.

It says it all; “look at the plank in your own eye.”

Believe it or not, we can judge someone without even realizing we are doing it. Judging is a very common thing.

When we see another’s speck, it’s easy to forget about our plank.

We have to teach ourselves not to judge. We must make ourselves aware of what we are doing and shut it down immediately.

Let us repent today, not for seeing or noticing the speck, but for holding it against them; treating them wrongly because of what they have done, or who they have become.

We need to remember how God’s grace was so real for us with our big old planks. And now that we have overcome some things and removed some planks, we too need to sow grace to others.

2 Timothy 2:1 (NKJV) 1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

When we see someone’s, speck be prayerful that God will help them, just like He did for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-24-26

Romans 3:23-24 (AMPC) 23 Since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives. 24 [All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus,

Welcome to part 5 of this series. Thank you for sticking with us 😊

Today we will discuss the final component of salvation; redemption.

Redemption: the setting free, or deliverance, of one who is in slavery or bondage.

Greek: Agorazo

Humanity’s perpetual struggle is with one thing; sin. Every problem in humanity stems from sin, bar none.

Sin comes naturally to us because we are born in a fallen condition, living by and knowing only the desires of the flesh.

Walking and living by the flesh leads only to one thing; death (spiritual).

God offers redemption by faith through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

The word redemption may not make sense to our natural minds. It is a foreign concept to us.

It’s easier to understand when we think of it in common words.

Consider being a slave. We cannot set ourselves free. It is impossible.

The only way out of this slavery would be monetary payment by someone else. They can buy our freedom for us, eliminating the bonds that hold us captive. Once this payment is made, the slave owner has no power over us. We are free.

In our own situation, we are slaves to sin. It holds us in chains. We cannot escape it by our own power.

God offers us redemption (payment for our freedom) through the blood of Jesus. His blood, when it is applied to us personally, breaks the chains of sin, setting us free from the power of darkness.

When we have been redeemed, we are no longer a child of darkness. We have become a child of God.

We have been bought and paid for by God Himself. We now belong to Him.

And it is by this process that He breaks the power of sin in our lives.

As we recognize our lost, sinful condition, and we repent (turn away from our sinful ways), putting our faith in Christ, we are forgiven, made new in Him (redeemed).

And this is the beginning of what God intends to be a lifelong journey; a walk with Him that gives us new purpose in life; drawing near to Him and giving honor to Him in everything we do.

How strong our relationship grows with Him is up to one person; us.

Let us make it a point to grow and build this relationship with the One who redeemed us to be as strong as it can be!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-23-26

Ephesians 1:7 (AMPC) 7 In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor,

Welcome back!

We are on day 4 of this 5-day series.

Today we will discuss forgiveness.

More specifically, we will be looking at receiving forgiveness from God, not one person forgiving another.

Looking at it from this perspective, here is how forgiveness would be defined.

Forgiveness: God’s act of pardoning sinners by releasing them from the penalty of sin and canceling their debt.

Greek: Aphiemi, Aphesis

Aphiemi represents the cancelation of a debt. It signifies that the penalty for our sin (which is death) has been fully discharged. We are no longer bound by it.

Aphesis represents the state of remission (or release) from that debt. It has been paid in full on your behalf by Someone else who did not incur the debt (in this case, God).

Our past sin is not overlooked. It is sent away, removed from us through the blood of Christ that was shed on the cross.

Because of a repentant heart, we turn away from our old ways.

We begin to see the world through a different lens, leaning more toward God and less toward the things of the world that once enslaved us.

By now we should be starting to see a clearer picture of the 5 components of salvation.

We experience and/or become aware of God’s grace and mercy toward us. This realization or discovery causes us to be remorseful for our sins and repent. Repentance opens the door to forgiveness. And forgiveness sets us free from the debt of our sins.

Tomorrow, let’s discuss the final component of this; redemption.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-26

Luke 13:3 (LSB) 3 I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

Welcome to day three of our series!

We have covered grace and mercy.

Today, we will discuss repentance.

Contrary to what many believe, repentance is more than simply feeling sorrow for our behavior or actions.

Repentance: a turning away from our old self and old ways.

Greek: metanoia

True repentance begins with a genuine feeling of remorse; remorse for what we have done, who we have been, and our sinful ways as a whole.

That remorse stirs us and causes us to desire God’s forgiveness. And it is that repentant heart that leads (opens the door) to repentance.

Without repentance, there is no forgiveness.

Luke 13:3, the verse above, was spoken by Jesus as He addressed the Jews.

In the latter part of Chapter 12, immediately prior to what He spoke in Luke 13:3, He reprimanded the crowd, and His disciples as well, for not discerning the times, and for not recognizing what was right in front of them.

And He warned them that if they did not repent, they would perish.

Likewise, in the book of Acts, Peter warned the Jews that they also must repent so their sins may be wiped away.

Acts 3:19 (LSB) 19 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

Again, it is repentance that opens the door to forgiveness.

In summary, true repentance (metanoia) is a turning point; a place where we begin the process of forsaking our old self and embracing the man or woman God is transforming us into.

This transformation is whole, impacting us from head to toe, inside and out. Even our mind is renewed as we begin to shed and forsake the ways of the world, embracing instead the things of God.

This transformation cannot happen if we allow ourselves to continue to be enslaved to the ways of the world.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-26

Ephesians 2:4-5 (LSB) 4 But God, being rich in mercy because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved…

Yesterday we discussed grace; receiving favor/kindness we don’t deserve.

Today we will discuss mercy; not receiving punishment we do deserve.

These two, grace and mercy, go hand in hand, leading us toward God and a repentant heart.

Mercy: the compassionate treatment of those in distress, specifically involving the withholding of deserved punishment or the relief of misery.

Original Greek: Eleos

In the verses above, Ephesians 2:4-5, we learn that because of His great love for us, God displayed mercy toward us even while we were dead in our transgressions (sins), making us alive in Christ.

Thank you, Father!

What is this mercy that Paul speaks of in these verses?

Let’s examine it and break it down so we can be sure to understand it correctly.

As seen in the short definition above, mercy in its simplest definition is when someone has the right and the cause to punish us, but they choose not to do so.

Our sin and blatant rebellion against God give Him the right to punish us; to condemn us to eternal separation from Him.

God’s compassion toward us prevents us from receiving the judgement that we deserve.

It is in becoming aware of, and recognizing, His grace and mercy toward us that our heart changes.

We become repentant, displaying genuine remorse for our sin.

Tomorrow, we will discuss that oh-so-important word, repentance.
