Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-26

Ephesians 2:8 (LSB) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

Welcome to part 1 of what will be a 5-part series!

This series will touch on five different components of our salvation in Christ.

1. Grace
2. Mercy
3. Repentance
4. Forgiveness
5. Redemption

We will examine each of these five components and gain understanding as to the integral part that each plays in our salvation.

Ephesians 2:8 (above) states that we are saved by grace, though faith. What is grace. And how does it contribute to our salvation?

Grace: unmerited favor, kindness, or goodwill given to someone who doesn’t deserve it.

Original Greek: charis

Exhibiting kindness toward someone who has not displayed kindness toward you is a simplified example.

A more complicated, intricate example might be this:

Someone you know has spent years treating you badly. They have slandered you, treated you harshly, and done everything they can to destroy your career and your reputation. They have made themselves your enemy.

This person, though a series of poor choices, has fallen into deep debt. He is on the brink of losing everything. This would destroy him and his family.

What if you had the power, though financial means, to save him from certain destruction?

He has not asked you to help. You don’t owe him anything. But you act on his behalf and help him anyway.

This is grace in action. And it leads to a complete change of heart in your enemy. He is changed by this forever.

You see, grace can be transformative.

So it is with God and us. God chose to offer us kindness despite our hatred and irreverence toward Him.

And it caused our heart to become repentant, seeking His forgiveness. It is the first step toward our redemption.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-18-26

John 5:14 (NKJV) 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.

When we get set free or delivered it’s important to know that we cannot return or go back to what we were set free from, or it can be even worse than it was before.

Returning to past bondage or sin that we were once in, and have been set free from, results in a deeper bondage to it.

The stronghold that once held us becomes even more powerful than before!

Matthew 12:45 (NKJV) 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

The more we keep going back, or giving in to sin, the harder it will be for us to resist.

Jesus has come to set us free once and for all. We can’t play with fire and think we won’t get burned; it isn’t that easy to escape the second time.

He warns us that the next time will be worse. The enemy has no mercy; he is out to kill us.

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Repent today if you have fallen into sin. Let God walk you through deliverance. And do not return again to what held you captive.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-17-26

James 4:8 (LSB) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

We have a question for you today.

What’s stopping you?

What is the basis for that question?

It is the fact that most people, if asked, would readily state that they wish their relationship with God was stronger.

Yet, despite willingly and readily speaking those words, few will actually do what is needed to make it stronger.

You see, just like anything else that’s worth pursuing, our walk with God is no different. It requires deliberate effort to make it happen and to strengthen it.

None of this will happen by chance, without our willingness to “put in the work”.

No, we are not saved by our works.

Ephesians 2:8 (LSB) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

But “work” is required if we are to grow and mature as a believer and climb past the infant stage of our growth.

You may ask, “why should I want to grow?”.

The answer is simple; because Jesus told us to do so.

John 15:5 (LSB) 5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

We can make excuses as to why we aren’t growing, or why our relationship with God is weak.

In the end, no excuse holds water or validity.

But there is hope!

Each day is a new day. And this very day is the one on which you can “take the bull by the horns” and make the change that has been put off for so long.

Let us do the hard work.

Put in the time and effort, setting aside the things that distract us and suck up our time day after day, focusing instead on the One who loves us enough to offer redemption despite our sinful selves.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (LSB) 1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, laying aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-16-26

Psalm 73:26 (NKJV) 26 My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Over the years, as we grow and learn, we will slip at times.

Why?

Because we are flesh. Flesh is not perfect, and it will cause our heart to fail when we least expect it.

But don’t lose hope. As we keep pushing through, we will get better and stronger in certain areas. And we must remember that God is our strength.

Most times, when we are struggling with our weakness, we feel ashamed. And instead of running to Him, we tend to run the other way.

Don’t be afraid to pull on Him. When we are weak, He is strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Take a moment and recognize Whose strength it is that rests upon us. He is our ROCK!

Christ is everything. He is perfect, He is strong, He is miraculous, He is mighty, He is God in the flesh.

John 1:1 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Welcome His help and let Him make us strong!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-15-26

Romans 8:31 (LSB) 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

God is for us.

We often forget this very important fact. And we pay the price for that forgetfulness in the form of stress, anxiety, worrying, and endless battles with fear.

Does this mean that we will never face difficult things or seasons of tribulation?

No, it doesn’t. Those things are part of life.

But what it does mean is that we have Him to walk us through those times and seasons.

The catch here is that we must allow Him to!

We all like to think we are strong, steadfast, and capable of handling our own affairs.

But our strength is limited.

And if we learn to lean on Him and draw from His strength, we won’t find ourselves walking around in a state of exhaustion, with frazzled nerves.

Psalm 73:26 (NLT) 26 My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.

Let us not rely solely on our own strength but go to Him and allow Him to strengthen us and lead us through when we face times of adversity.

For it is by His strength that we see victory!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-14-26

Galatians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

What were we a slave to?

Our hearts without Christ were dead to righteousness and very much alive to deceit and wickedness. We were a slave to sin!

Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV) 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

When we put our faith in Jesus Christ and turn from our deceitful and wicked ways, we are born again, washed in His blood. We become heirs of God, meaning we are now adopted into God’s family.

We are heirs not by human merits, but by putting our faith in Christ. We are no longer servants or slaves to anyone or anything, but considered sons and daughters of the Highest!

When we become an heir, it means we are entitled to an inheritance!

Praise be to God, we enter a place where we will receive His inheritance; eternal life, righteousness, and the kingdom of God!

Children of God, we are so blessed!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-13-26

Job 1:20-22 (LSB) 20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be the name of Yahweh. 22 Through all this Job did not sin, nor did he give offense to God.

There is much we can learn from Job.

He had an incredible understanding of God’s sovereignty.

Despite losing everything he had, including his children, take note of what he did.

He fell to the ground and worshiped God.

Also take note of what he did not do.

He did not “give offense to”, blame or hold it against God.

Job understood that our blessings come from God, and they can just as easily be taken away.

How is it that Job had such a deep understanding of this?

We can find clues in the very first verse of the book of Job.

Job 1:1 (LSB) 1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God, and turning away from evil.

Job had a heart that honored God and He lived that fact out in his life. He turned away from evil, and he feared (revered) God.

These are key ingredients in the life of someone who loves God; revering Him and turning away from evil.

This may seem as though it is oversimplified. We often believe some things to be deeper than they are.

But it’s important for us to understand that there are certain foundational things that are very straight forward. And those things stem from what’s in our heart.

When it is in our heart to love God with our entire being, we will walk that out. And when it is in our heart to obey God, we will walk that out. These things will be evident in our lives.

Will we do so perfectly? No.

But we will do so based on the level of effort and dedication we exercise.

Let us give our relationship with God all that it deserves. And as we do, we will begin to understand how and why Job could react the way he did when faced with unfathomable loss and grief, not sinning or blaming God, but wosrhiping Him instead.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-11-26

John 4:23 (NKJV) 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

As I was praying this morning, I asked the Lord, “how do I worship You in spirit and truth?”

“What is it that I do that shows You or tells You that I’m worshipping in such a way?”

I heard these words…

“When you obey Me, you show Me how much I mean to you. When you follow Me and walk with Me, that shows Me your heart toward me. It’s not words that simply come from your mouth; worship consists of actions that come from your heart. Obeying Me shows Me how much I mean to you.”

I never would have thought of worship in this way. It’s not the way I learned it, but it makes perfect sense to me now.

As I am older now, I have come to understand there are many things we can say and do that appear to be worship. But what is behind it all, what weight does it carry? Is it just words and motions?

Worship is deeper than words, deeper than repetitive motions.

Worship is that deep longing we feel to please God with everything in us, causing us to make sacrifices at times beyond what we would ever think or imagine we could do. And only He knows the cost of it all.

True worship is deeper than what we think, and it means everything to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-10-26

Colossians 1:16 (LSB) 16 For in Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.

God is in everything we see.

Pouring rain. Bright sunshine.

Dark Clouds. Rainbows.

Gusty Winds. Waves crashing on the shore.

Beautiful sunsets. The dawning of a new day.

The sounds of birds singing.

Dolphins swimming playfully in the waves along the ocean shore.

Whales spouting.

And, yes, He is even in the thunder and lightning.

He created it all and still reigns over it all.

We often lose sight of how easy it is to see God. We can get caught up in “the mysteries of God” and miss what is right in front of us.

We seek specific miracles, sometimes for our own purposes, or maybe on behalf of someone else.

This is not inherently wrong in and of itself. But are we so caught up in it that we miss Him in everything else?

We must not let the cares of life steal our joy and the wonder of who God is.

He is here, visible in the things around us.

Let us be careful not to forget!
