Bible Verse of The Day – 8-19-26

Revelation 1:17-18 (LSB) 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not fear; I am the first and the last, 18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

The book of Revelation is packed with incredible imagery, symbolism and deep spiritual insights that the human mind has trouble comprehending and deciphering.

It is truly a spiritual plethora of some of God’s deepest mysteries.

But in the verse above, there is something incredibly simple that carries a very deep meaning, with a meaning that is deeply personal.

As John faced Jesus, he fell at His feet as a dead man; unconscious in the Holy presence of the Word of God who sacrificed His life for humanity.

But there was a message that John needed to hear; words that he needed to write down so they could be passed on to future generations to give them spiritual understanding.

So, Jesus did something incredibly human and sensitive for John.

He didn’t just speak to him and tell him to wake up or to rise and stand in His presence.

What did He do instead? He touched him.

He did the thing that a Holy God has no obligation to do. He did what showed His compassion for humanity, and He touched John, telling him “Do not fear”.

This may not seem like anything major on the surface, or at a quick glance. But that touch showed genuine gentleness in a way that carries the love of God beyond just being a far-off God who looks down upon mankind from a distance, aloof and uncaring.

And He does the same for us, touching us gently and speaking to us compassionately when we need to feel His incredible love and mercy.

We may not necessarily be falling as though dead in His presence. But we can surely fall under the weight of the things that life throws at us at times.

And it is in those moments that God does the personal thing, and He touches us gently to cause us to stir and hear His voice as He speaks the words that we need to hear 🙏🏻

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-18-26

Jeremiah 1:5 (NKJV) 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

God was talking to the prophet, Jeremiah, telling him He knew him. Yes, He knew him even before he took his first breath.

Wow! That surely shows us what an Omniscient, all-knowing Father He is!

It brings me great comfort to know that God knows all of us this well.

There was a time when I did not like me.

I was mad because of the things I had gone through. And I hid from myself, not wanting to face the things that had happened to me at times in my life when I was younger.

You see, I thought if I could block these things out, it would be like they had never happened.

But I was wrong. It didn’t work. It was all still there.

We can’t block it out. We must deal with it.

We must accept that it has happened and let God bring healing to our being that has been stained or broken.

No, we cannot take on someone else’s identity.

No, we cannot stuff the hard things away to pretend they never took place.

We must prayerfully seek God about how to keep going; how to be that person He made us to be.

Maybe we don’t like ourselves today. The things that we have been through hurt to remember.

We should not feel ashamed. We cannot pretend they never happened. And we should not try to hide them away any longer.

We must face them and let God take the things that we once hated about ourselves and use them to help others and bring glory to Him.

Cry out to God to help you face those things today. No more hiding.

He knows who He is working with because He knew us before we ever breathed our first breath.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-17-26

2 Corinthians 5:17 (LSB) 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

We very often hear this verse discussed as part of a lesson on growing and maturing in Christ. And rightly so.

As a believer, growing and maturing are not merely suggestions. They are a mandate.

Anyone who has truly recognized their sinful state and sincerely repented and has genuinely put their faith in Christ as their Redeemer and Savior, will WANT to grow and mature.

Today, though, we are going to look at this from a different angle. And that is the angle or perspective that recognizes the power of what a transformed life does, not only for us, but for those around us.

You see, the most powerful testimony we can ever give about God’s redeeming power is our own life. The life that we live speaks much more loudly than any words we can speak or share.

Our life is our biggest asset to the kingdom of God if we treat it as such.

Nothing we can say will have more power than the actions we walk out each day.

If our actions produce bad fruit, our testimony is bad.

If our actions produce good fruit, our testimony is good.

It really is very simple.

The Apostle Paul’s life exemplified this.

His reputation as a persecutor of Christians had the entire body of believers terrified.

But when they began hearing that the one who wanted them dead was now proclaiming the good news of Christ, they were ecstatic!

His transformed life proved that he was no longer the old person, but a new creation whose life had been transformed by his encounter with Jesus.

This is evidenced, as well, in the lives of John and Peter, as people “knew they had been with Jesus’ based on God’s power being displayed in their lives.

Acts 4:13 (LSB) 13 Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and comprehended that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were marveling, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-15-26

1 Corinthians 12:28 (NKJV) 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

God appointed all this in the church:

Apostles- An official messenger, or an ambassador. One who is sent by God.

Prophets – They share divine revelation.

Teachers – Tasked with accurately explaining scripture to help believers grow in wisdom, knowledge and sound doctrine.

Miracles – Acts of God; something extraordinary that takes place that can’t be explained by natural or scientific laws.

Healings – Curing blindness, paralysis, raising the dead, recovery from life-threatening diseases, etc.

Helps – divine rescue, daily support, human kindness, and care for each other.

Administrations – Keeping things organized and running smoothly.

Varieties of Tongues – prophetic/congregational tongue – heavenly language spoken publicly in a church setting, needing a second believer with the gift of interpretation to translate the message.

Intercessory Tongue – when someone does not know what to pray, the Holy Spirit intercedes and prays through them.

Personal prayer tongue – A private prayer language used to edify the individual believer.

Sign tongues- where a person will speak a language they never studied in order for an unbeliever to hear the gospel preached in their own native tongue.

These gifts that have been appointed by God were given to build up the church, create unity, and to help us mature in our faith.

1 Corinthians 12:7 (NKJV) 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

God, help us today to walk in the appointed gifts that You have blessed us with.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-14-26

Psalm 121:1-2 (LSB) 1 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? 2 My help comes from Yahweh, Who made heaven and earth.

This life we live in human skin is challenging in many ways.

We may often think that it would be nice if life was always smooth sailing; trouble-free with no challenges or problems.

But as we all know, this isn’t the case.

Things happen. Difficulties arise.

Trials can come our way that may even cause us to question why God allows them to happen.

Some of those situations will test our faith.

We might wonder if we will make it through whatever thing we may be facing at this moment.

So where do we go for help?

In whom do we place our trust?

What foundation can we stand on that will uphold us and not forsake us?

God alone is that Foundation. It is in Him that we can trust and not be betrayed or forsaken.

Over the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed that we have sprinkled a batch of devotionals written strictly based on various Psalms.

We did this to bring hope, encouragement, and strength to those of you who are facing battles, trials, or struggles of various kinds.

It is our prayer that God has used them to bring you hope where you felt there was none, light where it seemed only darkness existed, and strength when you were at your weakest.

We love you all immensely ❤️

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-13-26

Galatians 1:10 (NKJV) 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

Trying to be a people pleaser instead of doing the right thing will cause us to feel pressure.

Feeling pressure in these situations is normal. And we must learn to pay attention to it.

Sometimes the pressure is too much for us. We feel like we are going to pop or blow our top. It’s uncomfortable.

Just like a Pressure Cooker, we must let the steam out if we want to get rid of the pressure.

How do we eliminate that pressure? We get to the bottom of what is causing it and eliminate the root of it.

If our pressure is coming from pleasing others, it will eventually exhaust us and take up a lot of our time.

God will help us by giving us wisdom about the things or people that are contributing to such pressure. Sometimes it’s the people closest to us.

We must be prayerful about the doors we have opened. Sometimes it takes closing the door before we feel any relief.

Most people today are dealing with pressure, and it is not healthy; not for our own health, or for our relationship and walk with God.

We can miss out on life and the good things that God has for us to enjoy if we are constantly feeling that we are under pressure, trying to please men vs. obeying God.

God must come first in everything about our lives, so let us be careful to put Him there and keep Him there.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-12-26

Psalm 73:2 (LSB) 2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, My steps had almost slipped.

If we were to read these words apart from their contextual sentences and paragraphs, this may seem like a benign passage of text that carries little weight in the larger scheme of the word of God.

It is, however, if we view it in its fullness, a weighty testament to trusting God when everything we see and experience seems unfair and utterly lacking justice.

Its author, assumed to be Asaph, a Levite temple choir leader, penned the words that were in his heart after viewing the lives of the wealthy, the wicked, and the boastful.

The words in the verse above express his heartfelt confession that what he saw almost derailed his faith, stating, “my feet had almost stumbled, My steps had almost slipped”.

The incessant display of evil had him on the verge of questioning God and doubting his own faith in Him.

He questioned why he had worked so diligently to keep his heart pure, questioning whether it was all futile in the end, until (in verse 17) he came to the sanctuary (the worship center) of God, where he began to understand God’s perspective on the fate of the wicked.

And this caused a turning of his heart.

Are we also tired of seeing the wicked “flourish”?

Are we growing weary of what we perceive to be a lack of accountability and justice for the wicked?

Do we grow incensed as we witness their boastfulness and oppression of the common man?

As Asaph did, we must also understand that nothing escapes the eyes of God. No sin goes unpunished. No wicked person truly escapes justice.

We must not allow what we see to turn us away from God or question His ways.

We must not grow weary in doing good and living righteously.

For in the end, we will stand before God to be judged. And it is in His hands to weigh the deeds of the wicked.

Our responsibility is not to allow the ways of the wicked to corrupt our faith, but to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with our God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-11-26

Matthew 1:23 (NKJV) 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

I always get so excited and am in awe when I read this passage.

A virgin with child; only God can do this!

The conception and birth of Christ showed us the Father’s marvelous work right from the start, because we all know a virgin cannot become pregnant without having physical intimacy with a man.

And Mary had not yet “known” her husband at this point in her life.

As a matter of fact, when she told Joseph, whom she was betrothed to, he wanted to have her put away silently; end their marriage arrangement.

Matthew 1:19 (NKJV) 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.

That had to have been extremely difficult. It was definitely  something that they both had to work through

But, thank God for His plan!

He had an angel speak to Joseph and let him know it was OK to be with Mary; that the child she was carrying was of the Holy Spirit, and that He would save His people from their sins.

Matthew 1:20 (NKJV) 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

Can you Imagine hearing something so powerful, and being a part of it? Wow!

Mary and Joseph weren’t anyone special in human terms. They had no special qualifications, etc. But God used them for a purpose.

God will use others to walk out His plan and purpose as well!

Will we be ready for Him, to be a part of what He wants to do?

Mary and Joseph may have been caught off guard at first. And they had to work through some things.

But the important thing is that they both loved God and they walked out their parts in His plan, letting Him unfold it according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-10-26

Psalm 27:14 (LSB) 14 Hope in Yahweh; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Hope in Yahweh.

Living with our hope rooted firmly in God isn’t always easy.

In fact, sometimes it can be downright difficult, and even gut-wrenching.

Our choice to trust God despite what we may be seeing with our eyes is one that forces us to live not by what we see, but Who we know and trust.

And His ways don’t always line up with what we might envision in our minds.

His methods may not make sense.

His answers may not always be the answers we were expecting.

And His timing may be drastically different than what we think we need.

But as these words above were penned, they were expressing absolute hope and trust in God while staring enemies and obstacles square in the face and holding firmly to the fact that God is sovereign in all things.

His strength never fails. He is trustworthy beyond our human understanding.

It is this that causes us to have hope that we can hold onto in the face of incredible adversity.

And it is this that causes us to have resilience beyond what we might think humans can endure.

Why?

Because when our hope, trust, and strength are found in Him, there is nothing more powerful than this.

Be strong and let your heart take courage; Hope in Yahweh 🙏🏻
