Bible Verse of The Day – 1-20-14

(Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV)  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; {7} and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Being anxious for nothing means to not try to make something happen before it’s time. But to wait for God, His knowhow, His timing and His release. This has got to be one of the hardest things for me at times.

I am a person that when I know something needs to be done, I just want to get it over with; I want to do it and put it behind me. You can imagine my fight and struggle at times with this verse. I have to remain obedient and surrender my ideas, my timing and knowhow to God.

How many times a day do I have to remind myself of this verse? It depends on the season that I’m in. There are days when this verse stretches me in areas that hurt because of my personality of wanting things done NOW! It causes me to humble myself and let God work things out, trusting Him and knowing that His plan is better than MINE!!

The important thing is to follow the rest of this verse, after we get past the being anxious part. It says to pray and be thankful!!

Don’t forget these very important steps because this is why He tells us to be anxious for “nothing”.

Do not be so focused on the one situation going on in our lives that is causing problems, that we forget or lose site of everything else that is going on.

Be prayerful and  thankful for everything that is happening in our lives.
