Bible Verse of The Day – 10-26-22

Hebrews 11:8 (NKJV) 8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

Faith is the catalyst for all that we do as followers of Christ.

We obey God and do things He has asked us to do, many times without knowing how to do it, or even why He wants us to do it.

Some might call this blind faith. But it’s really not blind at all. It’s a deep trust that we develop as we follow Him and grow closer to Him, learning more about who He is and what He wants for our lives.

This kind of faith is what lights a fire in us to want to obey Him and walk out things that bring fear to the natural mind.

That same faith is what quells those fears and gives us the courage and strength to go places that we’ve never seen, both in the natural and in the spiritual realm, and do things we’ve never done.

Faith such as this is what allowed Abraham to leave his home and venture to a land he had never seen before.

This kind of faith doesn’t just happen. It comes over time as we grow and mature in God. It comes one little step at a time as we learn to trust Him.

Make no mistake. This kind of faith isn’t built on a desire to do great personal feats, prophesy boldly or work incredible miracles.

It is built on a strong desire to love God, obey His word and follow the path He has set before us. It is not selfish or self-centered. It wants only to please Him who created us and put the breath of life in us.

And this faith isn’t a pursuit of faith itself. Faith without a sincere, burning love for God isn’t faith at all, but just a selfish pursuit to be somebody that God hasn’t called us to be.

Trust God. Love Him more than anything else. Put Him first in everything. And our faith in Him will grow like a mighty flame.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-22

Proverbs 21:21 (NKJV) 21 He who follows righteousness and mercy Finds life, righteousness, and honor.

One thing that I’ve learned as a child of God is that walking with Him isn’t as difficult as some might think, or some might make it seem.

Yes, God is mysterious in some ways, simply because He is God.

But the concept of following Him isn’t nearly as difficult as we are often led to believe.

Look at the scripture above. Note its simplicity and directness; follow righteousness and mercy, and find life, righteousness and honor.

See how simple that is?

If we want righteousness, we need to seek righteousness. And if we add to that mercy, we will find life, as well as honor.

On the other hand, if we seek hatred, discord and chaos, we will find such things. We find what we seek. And we reap what we sow.

If we want our relationship with God to flourish, we need to seek Him wholeheartedly. We need to put Him first in everything; yes, every aspect of our lives.

If we hold back on some things, or in some areas of our lives, we will grow and benefit only in certain areas. The areas where we hold back will remain fruitless or weak.

So, what do we need to do?

To do justly, love mercy and walk humbly before our God.

Micah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

This is not that difficult. And He will equip us to do just that if we sincerely ask Him to do so.

Amen

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the wonderful name of our Savior, Jesus Christ!

Change of one type or another comes to our lives pretty frequently. God is faithful to lead us through those changes, as long as we’re faithful to follow Him.

In today’s video, Show Me Your Back, we teach about how to know that we are following God, so He can lead us.

This is probably the shortest video we have done to date, but very powerful in what we share, so we hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-11-21

2 Kings 18:7 (NKJV) 7 The Lord was with him; he prospered wherever he went. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.

King Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king of Judah. He reigned 29 years In Jerusalem. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord.

He removed the high places, or places of pagan worship, broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made. For until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it.

He trusted in the Lord. He held fast to Him; He did not depart from following Him. He kept the commandments in his heart.

The Bible says, the Lord was with Him and he prospered wherever he went.

Why? Because although Hezekiah lived in this world, he was not of the world. He lived for God and did what was right.

Where are we today in our walk with God? That is what will make us or break us.

We can walk with or without Him. We can keep the commandments or throw them out the window.

Oh, yes, we can live the way the world does. Or, we can live in the world but not be of it.

John 15:19 (NKJV) 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

What is our walk like today?

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-12-19

Ecclesiastes 2:11 (NKJV) 11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done And on the labor in which I had toiled; And indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun.

As I sat in the parking lot of a local shopping center today, I pondered on many things as I watched cars come and go, and people busily going about their shopping.

We are in the beginning of a season of major change, the details of which God is revealing to us a little at a time. So, we are both a bit excited, nervous and expectant as we wait for God to show us more.

As I watched everyone today, and as I went over some things in my mind, I began to feel the tremendous weight of what God is bringing us through. There are so many unknowns right now.

But we trust Him in everything, so there is no fear in any of this even though we may not know the when and the how of it all.

Most of all, as I sat and took all of the busyness in that was all around me, I became acutely aware of how fragile life is and how so many of us spend our lives chasing after things that, in the grand scheme of things, don’t matter one iota.

We are all guilty of this to one degree or another. And it’s not that we are terrible people because of it. After all, God does want us to have some pleasure in our lives.

But God showed me how all of this “chasing after the wind” affects our lives; how it bogs us down and causes us to lose sight of what’s really important.

If we are sensitive to God’s spirit, we will feel the tug of war going on between the things of God and the pull of the world on us. It will be like a wrestling match between darkness and light, apathy and passion, idleness and activity.

This battle won’t leave us alone until we do whatever it is that God is prompting us to do, or until we become hard and begin to ignore Him, eventually closing Him out completely.

It’s critical that we don’t let ourselves get to that point, where we close Him out. We need to stay sensitive to Him and His promptings.

How do we do this? We be careful not to let so many of these other things pull on us and take us away from Him. We make sure that we don’t get caught up things that steal our time and our affections.

Enjoy life. Live it to the fullest. But always, always, always put God first in everything.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-28-18

John 8:38 (NKJV) 38 I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen with your father.”

Who is our Daddy?

There are two fathers; Jehovah God, full of Truth, and the devil, father of lies.

John 8:44 (NKJV) 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Jesus was speaking to the Jews, His people, those who should have known Him. But they just wouldn’t accept Him. Instead, they wanted to kill Him.

How do we know who we serve?

We pay attention to the things we do; our actions will say a lot. Now, this doesn’t mean that we will be perfect at doing things, even as Believers of Christ. We are going to miss it at times. But, we want to pay attention to the things that we consistently act out and we think are OK.

For instance, if we are learning and growing as a follower of Christ, we will try to be honest in what we do. We will be kind to people, even if they are mean or bitter toward us. We will be a forgiving person. Our intent will always be good and right, even though we may sometimes miss it.

Maybe we are a nasty, angry and spiteful person. Maybe we’re bitter and always wanting things our way, causing contention, and not forgiving others. Well, we need to look at our actions and see if God is really working in us. Are we allowing Him to bring change in our heart? Or are we just playing the role? Roles don’t fly with God.

His Spirit in us will lead us to do good things and convict us into repentance when we do make mistakes. The devil will lead us to do bad things and we will feel no conviction from it. No remorse.

If our flesh does not let God change our heart, our flesh will line up with the devil and he will have more control over us. We will see this by our actions. And those wicked things we ponder on in our minds, we will act out.

Pay attention to the details in ourselves. Those little actions here and there all add up to make the big picture. We can really see who we are when we watch ourselves throughout the day.

How we respond to others and how we act in our own homes, behind closed doors, says it all.

Who are we letting have control over us?

Revelation 3:20 (NKJV) 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Jesus is knocking. It’s up to us to open the door and let Him dine with us today. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-18

Deuteronomy 28:13 (NKJV) 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.

Being open to the way God wants us to do things is what will make this journey we are all on fun!

Yes, we will admit that sometimes it can get a little tense, and even scary at times. Absolutely. But, if we just hold on and stay close to Him, He will walk us through it.

It takes discipline and obedience. But, what an exciting way to live!

God has our back if we follow His commandments, His direction and His timing.

We have an important part in all of this. We may ask, “how do we know our part?”. We pray, we listen, we watch and we do.

It’s important to know that He wants us to understand what He is saying to us more than we ourselves want it. His love and compassion for us are very deep and He wants us to succeed.

He wants us to be the head and not the tail. He wants us to be above and not beneath! But we must be observant and be willing to take action.

Staying open to Him, His ways, His timing and His answer to us is what will keep us moving forward on this wonderful journey with Him.

Forget about the way it has always been. That kind of thinking will cause us to be stuck.

We need to stop with always thinking about how we did things before and how well it worked. That’s great, but it’s not always going to go the same way. God will change things up in a heartbeat if He sees a good reason to do so. Be ready to move with Him!

Break free today from the old ways of doing things and walk down the new, different, challenging and exciting road God has for each one of us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-25-17

Deuteronomy 8:2 (NKJV) 2 And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

Have you ever felt like you keep facing the same obstacles over and over again? It happens to all of us at one time or another.

And as we face those same things over and over again, we stand and ask why. Why do we have to go through this yet again?

Usually it’s because we didn’t get it right the first time. So we have to do it again. And if we don’t get it right the second time, we will face it again. And so on.

God did this with the Israelites when they left Egypt. The journey they had to make should have taken them no more than two weeks or so. But they wandered in the wilderness for forty years!

They kept going around that same mountain again, and again. And every time they did, they failed the test.

God wanted to teach them and show them why. But they failed miserably. And so they paid the price for their disobedience, by dying in the desert and never getting to enter into the land of promise that God had told them about.

It’s important that we don’t fall into the same trap. We need to get God’s wisdom and discernment and make sure we take the right steps as He leads us.

Do we keep struggling with financial problems? Maybe we’re mishandling our money.

How about relationships? Are we constantly in crisis mode with our relationships? We’re probably choosing the wrong people to hang with, entering into a relationship with the wrong person, or failing to correct the things that are wrong in the relationship.

This can apply to just about every area of our lives. Wherever we repeatedly make poor choices, we will face the same struggles over and over again.

This is why it’s so important that we draw near to God and build our relationship with Him, so we can hear Him clearly and heed His promptings and warnings.

And when we follow Him closely, we will find that we will stop facing the same hurdles over and over again. And His peace will wash over us like cool water on a hot day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-13-17

James 4:10 (NKJV) 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

When we truly submit to God, and what He wants to do, in us, for us and through us, we will feel His peace come over us. We will know, even though we don’t quite understand it, that we have finally given into Him and stopped fighting it.

I remember a time when we thought we needed to switch some things up and we were trying our best to do the right thing and make the right choices.

But, even though we thought we were heading in the right direction, something on the inside of us wasn’t completely sure. We didn’t have His peace. That’s an indicator that we still need to seek God for the complete plan and wait for Him to show us.

We continued on the road we were on because we didn’t know what else to do.

After some time went by, and we had made some plans, lined things up, signed paperwork related to certain changes, God gently reminded us that He had another way. And His way would work better at taking care of this particular situation.

We literally were ¾ of the way into this thing with all of the decisions we had made, but we humbly decided to pull out and agree with Him.

We are thankful we choose His way, because by doing so, He brought it around in such a way that we would never have been able to do with our own understanding.

Don’t be afraid to pull back, or pull out of the work we have begun, if we are not feeling God’s peace and certainty in it.

All it takes is submitting and saying “OK, God. We tried to do what we thought was the right thing, but it’s not feeling so much like the right thing right now. We really want it done Your way.” Then simply let Him see it through and follow His leading, taking only the steps He directs us to take.

He will direct our path if we will let Him.

Psalm 25:4 (NKJV) 4 Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths.
