Bible Verse of The Day – 12-14-21

Matthew 25:23 (NKJV) 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

The closer I get to Him, the more I realize how fragile our lives are as human beings. How delicate we truly are and how easily things can change in a matter of a heartbeat, or even in just one breath.

The life we live here is not forever. We are just here for a time.

In that time, what we do matters. It will truly make a difference if we are doing what God has planned for us.

It is crucial in so many ways to know that we are walking in His plan and doing what we are supposed to be doing.

This is not some deep spiritual message. It is a reminder. We are not here to just be here.

There is purpose, reason and a plan for us all. No one is excluded.

There is work to be done and there is a mission for us all. We work together as one body in Him, to reach the nations.

The one thing I’ve learned is that I need to see His back; not His face, not His glory, not even His miracles.

But if I could ask only ONE thing of Him it would be, “God, let me see Your back, that I may know I’m following YOU. And in doing so I’ll be right where I need to be, faithfully in Your will!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-12-20

James 4:13-14 (NKJV) 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Have you ever seen a shooting star?

I spend a lot of time on the water during the summer months, and I have gotten to see some incredibly beautiful shooting stars.

No matter how incredibly bright some of them are, they are literally only visible for a split second or two; here and gone almost instantly.

This is a great representation of our lives here on earth. We are here and gone before we even realize it.

Yes, 70 years is a lot longer than the life of a meteor. There’s no doubt about it.

But if we look at our lives compared to the grand scheme of things, those 70 or so years can seem pretty insignificant. And as such, we are no more than a shooting star flashing across the sky for a split second, and then we are gone.

Over my lifetime, there have been a few shooting stars that I have seen that have stood out. They are still very vivid in my memory.

Why? Because they were brighter or more brilliant than others. They left an indelible impression in my mind.

Our goal in our life as a believer should be to leave a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of those around us, shining God’s light to them in the things we do and the things we say, just like those shooting stars that we remember for a lifetime.

Maybe it will be words of encouragement or words of hope. Maybe it will be words of correction, spoken in love. Maybe it will simply be a listening ear that we give to someone who needs to talk.

Maybe it will be time that we took to help someone in need. Maybe it will be something that we gave to someone who was lacking.

Whatever it might be, let it be something that we do or say with the love of God in our hearts. Let our motives be pure. And let God be at the forefront of it all, giving Him the glory for it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-17-16

James 4:14 (NKJV) 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Just a little reminder to hug someone who we know needs it. Maybe they are struggling and have nowhere to turn. Be patient, be kind, be loving. We just don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

If we have a disagreement with someone, make it right. Don’t stay bitter toward them. Don’t hold anger… let it go. And tell them, no matter what differences you may have, that you still care about them.

Today is here and now and in this day we can love with God’s love. We can be the one to reach out and go the extra mile just as Christ did for each one of us.

Matthew 5:41 (NKJV) 41 And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

Don’t let little things, or even things that seem so big at the moment, keep us from doing what we need to do today. Push the feelings aside and plow through. We do not know if either one of us will have a tomorrow.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-26-14

James 4:13-14 (NKJV) Do Not Boast About Tomorrow 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

This has been a different kind of week for us. There have been a lot of unexpected things happening. Not just with us, but also with people we know.

We attended a funeral for the brother of one of my high school friends. This man died very unexpectedly, at the young age of just 49. He suffered two strokes and a blood clot at the base of his brain in just a matter of a few days. What started out as any other normal week for him and his family ended with him dying.

Another person that I know through Facebook, a Christian musician, recently lost her dad, also unexpectedly, as he died in his sleep at a fairly young age.

Both of these events have brought sudden and drastic change to the lives of the people who lost their loved ones.

So we want to remind everyone today about how fragile life is. Not a single one of us is promised a tomorrow. None of us is even promised a next breath or a next heartbeat.

We don’t decide the number of our days.

So at the risk of sounding cliché, we want to remind everyone reading this not to take life lightly and to cherish those around you. We don’t know how long they or we are here for and our lives can be changed in an instant when someone we love leaves us.

Love life and love those in your life. Love them like there is no tomorrow. Don’t take them for granted for even one second. It’s far too often that we lose someone we love and only then do we realize what we’ve lost and how much we regret not spending more time with them or not showing them how much we really love them.

So today’s message is just a simple reminder to love, and love bigly. We have been given love, so let’s love those around us while we can.
