Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV) 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
The tongue is very powerful. If we understood the power that our words hold, we would be more careful in choosing them.
We would speak more slowly and take our time instead of just blurting out whatever comes to mind.
James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
There’s a reason we must be slow to speak.
The right words at the right time can turn situations around in a heartbeat. But to have such powerful impact from our words, we must be tight in our relationship with God.
To have such powerful words that will speak life into a situation, the Holy Spirit must be guiding our lips.
And we’ve got to work that muscle, teaching it how to hold back at times, and in the right time speak out while being led by the Holy Spirit, not our emotions.
It takes laying aside our so-called need to speak our MIND and, instead, speak from our heart where the Spirit of God resides.
Ephesians 3:17 (NKJV) 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
Our tongue, guided by the Holy Spirit, is a very powerful tool that God can use on a regular basis to speak life into very hard situations.
Let us abide by His leading and allow Him to be the guide that our tongue follows.
