Tag: What the Bible says about asking God for what we need

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-20

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…

With God, we do not demand or declare things to come.

But by a simple request, let it be made known to Him the things we are going through and the things we would like to see change. Then, we leave it in His hands, thank Him for whatever He does and the way He does it, bringing clarity and change to our situation.

There is a big difference between this and the way some are being taught today, being told that they can demand from God what they want done. This kind of teaching is off.

What does it mean to request something? It is an act of asking politely or formally for something. It does not necessarily mean we are going to get it, but it means we can request it.

Do not be anxious.

This is so important; anxiety is the first thing that hits us when we want something. We have to fight it off. We have to say no and push it down. We are to be anxious for nothing. But be prayerful, asking earnestly and humbly for the things we need.

Demanding of God to do things will not work.

Humbly ask Him and put our request before Him, and He will answer us accordingly. Be thankful for the answer He gives us, and trust that His answer is best for our situation.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-31-18

Matthew 7:7 (NKJV)7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

God tells us that if we ask we will have, if we seek we will find and if we knock it will be opened. The question is, “do we ask, do we seek and do we knock?”.

This was a very big lesson we had to learn. We would never ask God for anything. We would just wait and see what He would do. Even if we were in a critical situation, we would just wait, wait and wait some more.

We were patient in this area, but we weren’t doing everything we were told to do. We weren’t asking, seeking and knocking. How many of us do that today? We just sit and wait and see what God will do.

We think because God knows everything about us that we shouldn’t have to ask.

Wrong! We need to ask. And one of the things we have learned is that we need to be specific with our asking.

Once we learned how to ask, we would be very shy and reserved about it. We would only ask for exactly what we and others needed. That was it. Nothing else! I guess we didn’t want to put God out, so to speak.

But, one day during my prayer time I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to lift up my desires as well. I struggled with this, and I even argued with Him. Don’t argue with the Holy Spirit. He always wins.

He showed me that as long as my desires lined up with the will of God for me, and as long as they weren’t going to hurt me, it was OK to ask for more than just exactly what we needed. He has proven to us that He loves to help us with the desires of our hearts.

He loves to see us succeed and move forward. He loves to bless us!

We’d like to remind each and every one of you today, as we obey God with everything that He blesses us with, that we also give back to Him a tenth of it.

As long as we are diligent and faithful to Him, putting Him first, He will take care of our every need. He will protect us and give us the desires of our heart.

Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

That doesn’t mean we can be silly or excessive in our asking, but be prayerful. God will show us what we need and what desires are good for us. He will give us wisdom even in our asking. Amen.

Have a lovely day. You are blessed to be a blessing!

Proverbs 11:25 (NLT) 25 The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-24-15

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We can ask God for wisdom today and He gives it to us liberally and without reproach, meaning He gives it freely; it doesn’t cost us anything. The only thing we have to do is acknowledge the fact that we need it, and ask Him for it.

It’s sad that He is so willing to offer it to us, but yet we don’t think at times to ask. It could save us a lot of problems, if we would just ask.

Some of us have a hard time asking God for anything, for whatever reason. Maybe we don’t want to ask Him because we feel that we have everything we need and we know their are others who are worse off, and we feel funny asking God for certain things.

It’s good that we are compassionate, caring and put others before ourselves; that’s a good quality to have. But there comes a time when we have to ask God for things for ourselves as well, and not feel guilty about it or feel like we are being ungrateful or greedy, etc.

God wants us to ask Him for things and not be shy about it. Take a step today and ask God for the things we need; maybe it’s wisdom today, but maybe tomorrow it’s something else. It doesn’t have to be a need, it could be a desire. Either way, ask Him.

Matthew 7:8 (NKJV) 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
