Tag: What the Bible says about God’s peace

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-11-23

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

To keep something means to preserve it or maintain it in a specific state of being.

So, keeping us in perfect peace means that God will preserve or maintain us in a state of His peace in every situation that we face.

Who does He do this for?

Everyone whose mind is stayed (focused) on Him and who trusts in Him.

Have we been trusting Him lately? Or did we give up on the whole trusting thing when we got blindsided by something devastating?

Maybe our situation has changed drastically. Maybe we lost our job or took a major decrease in our income.

Maybe our health has declined, or our children are heading on the wrong path.

Maybe we just got tired of waiting on God and walking by faith, so we decided to take matters into our own hands, and now nothing is going as planned.

If we are willing to give God a chance to show up in our defense, and let Him do His thing, that peace will come back.

Our minds will shift from worrying, to focusing more on Him.

We will pay attention and be intently listening and watching for His guidance once again.

God wants to keep each one of us flowing in this beautiful peace. All we have to do is keep our minds stayed on Him and trust Him. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-4-23

John 1:18 (NKJV) 18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

One day as I was crying out to God, I had a vision.

In the vision, I was on my hands and knees. And as I asked God to help me through some things, I saw His hand hover over my back.

Out through my back and into His hands went all the heaviness and concerns that I was carrying.

I then saw Him roll me over into His arms, and I laid in them like I was sleeping. Then He pulled me into His chest/bosom and held me close! There I rested completely.

Nothing is too hard for Him. I say that from experiencing things I’ve seen Him do throughout my life and the lives of others dear to me.

I believe God gave me this vision so that I would realize how much He wants us to run to Him with everything.

The challenges of life will exhaust us, wear on us and cause us to grow faint if we don’t let Him do what He does best; Father us, carry us and love us.

I was so very encouraged by this. I wanted to share it with you in hopes that today you will let Him hold you and draw you in; that you would know you are loved more than you will ever know.

Your problems that look so tall in your eyes are teeny tiny to Him.

Let Him hold you today and draw you close.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-3-20

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

What should be ruling in our hearts?

Anger? No. Jealousy/envy? No. Greed? No. Fear? No.

What then? His Peace!

If His peace doesn’t rule, then we are off.

We need the Peace of God ruling in our hearts.

How hard is it to get His peace to rule? It’s not hard if we really want it.

God will help us as we listen to Him and get rid of the chaos, the noise.

All the hustle and bustle need to go.

Chaos should not be near a child of God. We should be sound and peaceful, even in the middle of a storm or in the midst of a battle.

God’s peace will surpass all understanding. He guards our heart and mind from getting out of control and He causes us to move accordingly.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

If we want His peace to rule today, let go of the things that are causing chaos. Listen to and follow His lead.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-24-20

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Do we suffer from anxiety? Do we wake up at night gasping for air, panicking over something that is weighing on our minds?

We’ve been there. It’s frustrating.

After struggling through a night of broken sleep, we do our best to go about our day and find some kind of peace. And then, out of nowhere, we’re reminded of our situation. Finding peace in that can be difficult.

But God’s peace surpasses all understanding. To surpass means to exceed; be greater than.

Sometimes when we are anxious or worried about something, we don’t want to hear about God’s peace. We want something done about the situation we are in. Peace is not what we think we need at that moment.

But, it is the very thing we need to have if we want to move forward and work things out.

We can not be moved by anxiety. We can not be moved by our fear. We can not be moved by a lack of understanding. We can not move forward without God’s peace.

The peace of God upon us will move us in the direction we need to go. It will guard our heart and mind and keep us on the right track.

God’s peace surpasses, or should we say, exceeds and is greater than all understanding.

Get God’s peace. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-11-20

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Are you broken today?

Have you been through something and you are grasping for anything to make your heart beat again? Something that will take the pain away?  Anything that will make you smile again, or at least give you a sense a peace?

These recent days have been tough for a lot of people. It hasn’t been easy with the abrupt changes around the world. Not knowing when we might ever feel right again is frightening, tiring and stressful.

Life has changed deeply for some. For others, maybe not as badly, but we are feeling different than normal, waiting for something to bring some kind of relief from the hardship we are battling.

Searching for a quick fix is not the answer we need today. No one can give us a quick fix when we need to heal or fix an ongoing problem. So, please don’t get discouraged if you are still unsure of how things will be as we move forward.

We want you to know one thing for sure that will hopefully give us all a little peace of heart and mind. God is here. He has not left us. He is forever going to be here for us, no matter what, as long as we draw near to Him.

Some may grow hard from their experience, depending on how hard the hit is. Some will be saddened and a bit discouraged, while others will say, “I am not going down without a fight”, and then they get so tired and burnt out that not only will they go down, but they will not get back up.

We are not going to give you a quick fix type of answer today. We are going to give you God’s word.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV) 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Let’s stay close, be strong and courageous and let Him fix our brokenness over time. He will not leave us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-20

2 Corinthians 3:17 (NKJV) 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Peace and chaos.

Those two things can say a lot about who or what is in charge.

During recent weeks we have seen a lot of chaos.

Why? Because the world is largely Godless, rendering them helpless when they face a crisis.

When God is present, peace will always take precedence. Where He is uninvited, peace will be absent, and chaos will take precedence.

It’s important that we understand this even in our homes, where we are the holders of the keys, determining what gets let in and what gets shut out.

As we put God on the throne in our homes, we will see and feel God’s peace begin to permeate our home. It will be something that people will notice when they come in.

If we have pushed God out, or if we allow things to enter our homes that are not of God, chaos will be more likely to be present there.

And we see this happening in the world on a large scale recently. God has been kicked out. Peace has disappeared. Chaos takes precedence, running rampant across the globe.

Let’s be sure we are putting God first in our lives and in our homes, giving Him permission to rule and reign there, inviting His peace to dwell there and to permeate our entire home.

Kick out the enemy, sending him packing, taking his chaos with him as he leaves.

We have the right and the authority to do this, and we encourage you to do so.

It starts at home, and then let’s work to bring God’s peace with us, everywhere we go.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-20

John 14:27 (NKJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

As we have walked through the last week or two, this verse can really speak to us.

Most of us go from day to day with no major fears to dominate our thoughts or our cares. Yes, we each have troubles of one kind or another, but most of them are less than major or life-altering.

As we have watched the recent scare due to the virus that has made its way around most of the globe, it has been a good time to reflect on a lot of things.

On a personal level, I have mourned the state of humanity, as I have watched the vast majority of people become veritable monsters, as they hoard supplies with no concern or regard for fellow human beings, leaving those who are considerate of others with empty hands as they have sought after the necessities of life, such as food, common household and medical supplies.

It is this kind of behavior that confirms the fact that the world, by and large, has rejected God, and therefore has no peace and no respect for God or any kind of earthly authority.

As we follow our Savior from day to day, it is times like these when we begin to examine ourselves and see where we draw our strength and our peace from. The way we handle ourselves in circumstances like this will show us a lot about ourselves.

Where does our trust lie? Where do we get our peace of mind from? Who gives us what we need when the world fails us?

These are some pretty deep questions. And if we’re honest with our answers, they can be pretty sobering, at the very least.

But as we ponder on these things, let’s remember that there is One we draw our strength and peace from. He will never, ever let us down.

And I am persuaded that He is able to sustain me and keep me, through all things, even when my natural eyes, my mind and the world around me might try to tell me otherwise.

2 Timothy 1:12 (NKJV) 12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-28-19

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, is the key to a life that’s not constantly marred by stress and anxiety.

Once we begin to get this peace, we will begin to see our lives change in many ways.

But, the key to this is reaching a point where we live in this peace. How does that happen?

It’s all about trusting God. You see, as we learn to trust God more, we will begin to have more and more of this peace in our lives.

This is something that takes time and effort to make happen. It isn’t the result of someone praying over us, laying hands on us or prophesying it over us.

It takes a deliberate effort on our part. The funny thing, though, is that this effort can’t be directed at obtaining this peace. It has to be aimed at building our relationship with God.

Our relationship with God is the foundation of every other aspect of being His child. The strength of that relationship dictates how every other part of our lives plays out.

So, it’s critical that we make the effort and spend the time to build and keep our relationship strong. When that happens, our trust in God will grow. As our trust grows, anxiety, worry and stress gradually fade away into the background.

Spend time in His word. Make a deliberate effort to pray often, being sure not only to talk to God but also to listen to Him. Do what He directs you to do. And watch your life change as the peace of God permeates it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-17-19

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

No matter how much we try to prepare and make everything go smoothly, we all know that sometimes it doesn’t take much for chaos and confusion to show up and try to throw us off.

Some days we are ready and can handle what comes our way very easily. Other days we are moved quickly and distracted to the point where we get nothing accomplished and feel like we are walking in circles. Why is that?

One word; emotions.

Our emotions are a funny thing; they are up and down. It can be hard to keep them calm, collected and steady. It’s only through staying close to God that we will remain peaceful.

When we heed His voice, taking to heart what He says, it brings a steadiness in our thoughts and our reactions to things going on around us. It doesn’t mean we won’t freak out at times, but it won’t happen as much if we spend time in God’s word.

His word brings us peace, even in the most difficult changes or circumstances that we may face.

Give time to Him and His peace will be there for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-7-19

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We teach a lot about God’s peace. It’s a very major factor in our own lives. It has transformed us and the way we react to things. It has also incredibly changed the way we see things.

It has so reshaped our lives that we find it critically important to share it with you as often as possible, in ways that will help everyone get a better understanding of it.

We have learned that where God is, there is peace. Where there is no peace, God is not there. It’s very simple yet profound at the same time.

What is it about this peace that makes it so special? It’s not of this world. It’s truly a spiritual phenomenon that can’t be 100% explained by words. But let’s give it a try and see if we can make it easier to understand and apply to our lives.

God’s peace doesn’t come because we follow a certain pattern or go through a predefined set of steps.

It doesn’t happen when we reach a specific milestone in our Christian walk.

And it doesn’t mysteriously appear just because we read or study a specific set of scriptures.

Here’s the easiest way we can explain it. God’s peace comes when we reach a point in our walk where we trust Him, no matter what we see happening around us.

It doesn’t mean that we become indifferent and simply brush everything off, especially when it comes to the things we see others going through.

On the contrary, as we grow in God, our compassion and love for others will grow stronger.

And our desire to do the right thing will become more pronounced in our own lives. We will become acutely aware of right and wrong, making every effort to do what is good and right in God’s eyes.

But when the storms of life come crashing upon us and those we love, we will understand and recognize that, ultimately, we are in God’s hands, and He is stronger than any trial we face.

Yes, we may still experience fear now and then, especially during those most difficult trials. But the peace of God will ultimately drive that fear away if we let it.

The peace of God is undeniably bigger than you and me, and it is something that we could never fully explain, especially to unbelievers. But as children of God, it is something that we all need to learn to walk in, letting it sweep away our doubts, our fears and our unbelief.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-21-18

1 Peter 3:11 (NKJV) 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.

The more of God we get in us, the more at peace we will be.

How do we get more of God? We turn away from evil ways and do good.

Sin is what puts distance between us and God. If we can be fresh in His word every day, through reading and prayer, our spirit will be quick to listen and hear what the Holy Spirit is reminding us of; what to do and NOT to do.

The Holy Spirit will convict us, whether we are in the process of doing something or just starting to do something, He doesn’t care. He will let us know.

He doesn’t wait for a convenient time. He just moves, and we are to listen and act accordingly.

For instance, maybe we are out and about among friends, and they seem to be having fun. Maybe they begin doing things that we know aren’t good. But the next thing we know, we are going along with it all.

It’s in those moments when we get tempted or off track, and we start to go down the wrong road, that He will pipe up, tap us on the shoulder or quicken our spirit. And He will remind us who we are in Christ.

It doesn’t matter to Him who may get offended by it. He’s there to be our Helper and He does an excellent job of it.

None of us are perfect. God knows when we are slipping and need Help. Stay in His word. Be prayerful and listen when He is tapping us on our shoulder. Turn away from what is wrong and do what is good.

Seek peace and pursue it! Amen.
