Tag: What the Bible says about renewing our minds

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-31-21

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Part of learning to walk by faith is learning to allow God to transform us by way of renewing our minds.

Well, what does that mean?

In a nutshell, it means that as we press in to God and learn of Him, the way we think and reason will be fundamentally changed.

As we grow into a mature believer, our thought processes will change.

We will no longer think solely by logic or intellect. We will begin to learn to think by way of the Holy Spirit.

Wait. What?

Yep! We will learn to allow the Spirit of God to guide our thoughts in a way that actually defies typical human reasoning.

As we do this, we will begin to see all other facets of our lives also be transformed.

And as that happens, our lives as a whole will change because we will no longer have the same set of values.

By this, I mean that what we see as important will change drastically over time. What we used to value highly will no longer hold as large a place in our hearts. In fact, some things that we used to think were terribly important will now mean very little to us.

But here’s the funny part about that.

As we genuinely place God higher and higher in our hearts, putting Him above all else, He will begin to give us some of those very things that we forfeited in order to allow Him to have that higher place in our lives.

Then, all we need to do is make sure we continue to keep Him there.

1 Kings 3:11-13 (NKJV) 11 Then God said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you. 13 And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-15-18

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

When we become a child of God, we are raw and broken. We may not even know how broken we are. But God does, and He also knows how to fix us, making us a new creation in Christ.

As part of the “fixing” process, God transforms the way we think; renews our minds.

This means that as we grow in Christ, we will begin to change the way we think. Our thought patterns will change. The way we see things will change.

Why? Because God is “adjusting” us in many ways. He changes our heart and the rest follows suit.

You see, as we grow in Christ we begin to see things from a different perspective. Things that we used to think were acceptable are now no longer acceptable. We see the error in our past ways and make the necessary adjustments in our thinking.

On the other hand, there will usually be things that we used to look down on or view as unacceptable that we now have a better understanding of, and we now see them as right.

The worst thing we can do as believers is to not allow God to change our heart and our mind. It is only through this transformation that God can work through us and use us for His kingdom.

So, if you suddenly find yourself questioning some of your old values and embracing new ones as you grow in your walk with God, just know that this is the work of the Holy Spirit, as He transforms you by the renewing of your mind.

Embrace God. Let Him transform you. And enjoy the ride!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-23-16

Mark 12:30 (NKJV) 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’This is the first commandment.

We are going to talk about renewing of the mind; something we work on day in and day out.

This may seem like a constant battle. Why? Because the mind has been allowed to do things a certain way for so long. It’s been working on its own with no one and nothing standing in its way. It has been free to do whatever it wants, however it wants and whenever it wants.

When we begin to renew it, we now introduce it to accountability. Not to just anyone, but to the Holy Spirit!

We may think, “oh, this is great,”! But when we begin to walk in this, we will soon discover some new things about our mind; How much it really loves its freedom with NO accountability.

It’s normal to feel anger, fear and inadequacy at times. Because the mind on its own likes to think it has everything under control and everything figured out. But then it begins to realize it does not have any control at all. It is a false sense of security and comfort. And that false sense of security is deceptive.

James 4:14 (NKJV) 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

When we love God with all our mind, letting Him renew it, we will begin to understand that the God of this universe, our Creator, wants to help us in ways we could never imagine. In this alone our trust in Him becomes our life line, bringing peace to our renewed minds.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-5-16

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Being transformed is going to take time. Having our minds renewed is going to be a constant learning, listening and doing process. This holds true for everyone.

We will all fall at times, make mistakes and trip up. Some may do this more often than others. It really doesn’t matter who does what, when or how many times. What matters and is very important is that we don’t stay down, we don’t stay in the mess, and we don’t just brush it off and continue to do it. We get out of it and get back up by repenting and changing our ways.

God’s word is what helps us to get back up. God’s word is what will keep us focused and on track. It is the one book that we should give a lot of attention to.

It is a journey, and for those that continue to press in and draw close to God, He will draw near to them and they will be purified.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Don’t just say with our words that we are God’s children, but let us show by the transforming and renewing of our minds.
