Bible Verse of The Day – 2-2-22

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

While some may view this scripture as a warning from Jesus, it is more than that.

Yes, it is a warning, reminding us that without Him we can do nothing.

But it’s also a promise, reinforcing the fact that if we abide in Him, we will bear much fruit.

Abiding in Him is, in fact, the foundation of bearing fruit. He is the source of that fruit. Therefore, if we do not abide in Him, there is no fruit that we can bear.

Jesus takes it further, drawing on the analogy of Him being the vine, and us being the branches.

Most people in His day were very familiar with farming, and especially the growing and cultivating of grapes. So, they easily understood His sayings and teachings about vines, branches and fruit.

In light of this, we can view it like this. Jesus, being the vine that we (branches) are attached to, provides whatever we need for nutrition and sustenance that allows us to grow strong. We draw everything we need from Him.

And because we draw from Him, we can become strong, allowing us to bear fruit.

But Jesus doesn’t just say that we will bear fruit. He says that as we abide in Him, we will bear much fruit!

Let’s be sure to abide in Him, allowing us to bear much fruit for the kingdom of God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-21

Matthew 12:33 (NKJV) 33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

A tree is known by its fruit.

These are words to teach us and help us discern the good from the bad.

Jesus shared this to let us know that He can’t always be there to protect us and save us from people that have bad fruit.

He shows us what to watch out for.

When we see someone with bad fruits, and they are okay with those bad fruits, that can tell us a lot. We need to see these things and move very carefully before getting into a relationship or friendship with them. Bad trees bear bad fruit.

Now, no one is perfect, so there is a balance.

We have to be careful not to walk away from those people that have bad habits. They may be sincerely trying hard to change

Sometimes it takes time to see the fruit from the changes they’re trying to make.

There is a difference.

The difference between the two types is that one will love what they are doing and couldn’t care less about changing.

The other will be asking for advice, asking for prayer and trying to make the right changes. They just are struggling because they haven’t’ quite gotten a handle on it yet, and they fall short at times.

Pray for those today that are sincerely trying to change the fruit that they bear, but may be struggling at times.

James 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Our prayers are powerful through the blood of Jesus!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-21

Matthew 13:23 (NKJV) 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

This is our goal as believers; to bear fruit!

It’s important that we make a sincere effort to receive seed on good ground.

Why?

Because if we hear His word and understand Him, we will bear much fruit.

If we hear the word of God and we don’t understand it, the enemy will come and steal it from our hearts. That’s right, God’s word says he will snatch it right from our heart.

Matthew 13:19 (NKJV) 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.

So, we must understand it.

And how do we do this? By letting the Holy Spirit help us.

He will go with us where ever we go. And He will bring conviction or awareness when needed. We just have to be sensitive to Him and He will guide us.

If we need wisdom at any time, God’s word says to ask Him for it!

Have we gotten out of the habit of going to God and getting our answers? This season we are in is one where we are going to be doing a lot of asking God for wisdom.

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We need to understand where we are going and what to do. We need to know what to say at times, and how to act in certain situations.

We need the Holy Spirit to help us reach nations.

Let us move with wisdom, with love and the grace of God. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-23-21

Matthew 13:9 (NKJV) 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

The amount of Gods word that we take in and our willingness to obey it, will determine the fruitfulness of our walk.

We can go to church 24/7, be taught, and read the Bible day in and day out.

But if we are not willing to obey it and walk it out, we won’t be fruitful. We won’t plant or sow good seeds. We won’t shine bright. We won’t be helpful to the kingdom of God.

Our actions will let us know if we are paying attention and allowing God to change our heart.

Matthew 7:20 (NKJV) 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

It’s is our fruit that we need to pay attention to. Not others.

We need to know where we are at in our walk, and we need to stay accountable to Him, being careful to walk upright each day.

Psalm 143:10 (NKJV) 10 Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

God is faithful to teach. We just have to be willing to hear and obey. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-19

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

“For without me you can do nothing”.

These are words we need to pay close attention to. They are words very often overlooked by most people, including the church.

Much of what we hear today about how we should live revolves around putting ourselves on one kind of pedestal or another.

We are told that we should put ourselves first, and then worry about others. We are told that many of the problems people experience are due to “low self-esteem”. We are told to “look out for number 1”. And we could build a lengthy list of other such things we are barraged with on a daily basis.

In all of these, it all comes down to me, me, me.

And while God has made us in His own image, and He wants us to prosper and be in good health, we need to remember that without Him, we can do nothing.

This doesn’t mean that we should walk around thinking that we are worthless. On the contrary, we are worth so much that God sent His Son to die for us.

But our worth doesn’t come from ourselves. It comes from God himself. It comes from the fact that He has made us. We didn’t make ourselves. We didn’t breathe life into ourselves. And we surely can’t sustain ourselves without Him. If we think we can, we are fooling ourselves badly.

If we are to be anybody at all, we need to abide in Christ, so that He can abide in us. Did you catch what Jesus said right there? We need to abide in Him so He can abide in us. If we are not abiding in Him, He cannot abide in us. That’s not something we hear much about.

The Gospel has been watered down to the point that it’s more about emotional highs and “warm fuzzies” than it is about this foundational truth of abiding in Him. This is why so many people struggle to “find themselves” and to feel like they’re worth something.

Romans chapter 12 teaches us a lot about being humble and presenting ourselves as living sacrifices, telling us that doing so is our reasonable service to God.

We are also told that nobody should think more highly of himself (or herself) than they ought to think.

Romans 12:3 (NKJV) 3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

Keep God first in everything. Lift Him up in all that we do. Abide in Him, so He can abide in us.

In this we will bear much fruit, and we will find ourselves in the process.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-5-17

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Just as a branch needs to be connected to the vine in order to continue to grow, so do we, as His children, need to be connected to our Lord in order that we can grow, learn and become all that He wants us to be.

When we stay connected to Him and not try to do things on our own, we will bear fruit.

Some people today are wondering why things aren’t going right in their church, in their home or with their relationships.

Maybe there has been a disconnecting from God and it’s time to sit down and take some time to see where and when things went wrong.

Sometimes things may happen that we have no control over, but many times the things that happen in our lives are due to choices we’ve made.

It’s never too late to get back on track.

Don’t be afraid to admit when we get off track. Being honest is critical to making things right again. The quicker we acknowledge it and do something about it, the quicker the fruit begins to come again.
