Bible Verse of The Day – 3-2-24

John 7:5 (NKJV) 5 For even His brothers did not believe in Him.

Sometimes those closest to us can be the hardest to deal with when we are trying to walk out God’s call on our lives. They can honestly be a hinderance with the things they say or think about us.

They look at us like we have 3 heads and have come from another planet, saying things like, “you’re not who you think you are”, reminding us constantly of our past or who they knew us to be.

Psalm 69:8 (NKJV) 8 I have become a stranger to my brothers, And an alien to my mother’s children…

If we are not careful, their words will penetrate and make us doubt or second-guess who we have become.

Don’t stop changing because family or close friends are uncomfortable with the changes that have taken place in us.

Some will fight and argue with us till the end; many times those who we would never expect. They act as though we have betrayed them.

Micah 7:6 (NKJV) 6 For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.

The thing about people that are close to us is that they are too familiar with us. They find it hard to accept us any other way than how we used to be.

They know what they know, and this makes it difficult for them to see us changing.

It’s almost better to distance ourselves from these friends or siblings if it becomes a constant battle for us.

Matthew 13:55 (NKJV) 55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?

When change comes and we begin to walk in the things of the Lord vs the things we’re used to doing, those familiar people will accuse us, persecute us, talk down to us and think we are nuts.

Mark 3:21 (NKJV) 21 But when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, “He is out of His mind.”

We can honestly say some will never accept what God is doing in our lives. They will try to talk us out of it instead of supporting and encouraging us.

Remember, even Jesus’ brothers didn’t believe in Him.

Some of those who are close will not believe us either. We can’t let it get to us.

Keep pressing on. For there will be those who will respect and welcome what the Holy Spirit is doing in and through us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-18

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

It’s very important that we learn and understand that God loves us and wants to help us. He’s not there to yell at us or hurt us. He wants to teach us, train us and bring us up to higher ground.

Once we understand this, our striving to be accepted by people will subside and eventually stop.

It’s nice to have good friends and family around us at times. It makes us feel good and feel accepted. But, there will come a time in our life, if we are serious about getting closer to God, when He will call us out for a season. He will call us away from those friends and family members, wanting us to spend less time with them and more time with Him.

During this time, we will learn many things. He will teach us to lean on Him more than on our family and friends.

We may feel alone at first, and almost feel like we are going backwards. But God knows and will help us through those lonely and discouraging moments. It’s a time of removing the things that don’t belong and enhancing those things that do. You might call it a heart-to-heart cleansing.

During this season He will teach us how to trust Him. He will teach us the importance of running to Him with everything first. He will teach us to be ourselves. And to see ourselves, even in times when it may hurt.

Change, and the cleansing of our hearts, does not come unless we see the need for it. But, the Lord is gracious and gives us the time and help to do so.

If we feel alone today, don’t be discouraged. It may be our season for us to learn more about who we are, who God wants us to become, the changes we need to make and what God wants to do with us and through us.

Embrace this time with Him, that we may move forward with a steadfast spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-5-18

Genesis 6:18 (NKJV) 18 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.

God was talking to Noah in this verse. He was letting him know specifically who would be with him on the ark.

Having the right people around us when we are doing what God has called us to do, a faith project, is extremely important.

What is a faith project? It is something we know God is asking us to do.

For instance, God asked Noah to build an ark. He gave him specific details and He also told Him the people to have around him, to help and encourage him. Noah had his family. Those were the people that God wanted around Noah.

Some may not think this is important because all throughout their life they have always made their own choices as to who they are involved with. But when it comes to taking the steps that God has ordered us to take, it is crucial to pay attention to even those that He wants around us.

God knows the heart, intentions and motives of man better than we do. He knows who we need to have around us during these times. He knows who will stand with us until the project is finished. Who will not pull on us and distract us. Who will not try to take over half way through the project. He knows whether someone is sincere or if they are just in it for themselves.

Trusting Him, even with the people, friends, family, pastors, etc., that we need around us during these seasons in our life is what will help us get our God project done.

The enemy loves to bring in distractions, hindrances and problems to delay us or get us off track. He likes to get us caught up in things that can can set us back and mess up our timing. God’s timing is everything!

Some of us are still trying to work the project when, in reality, we missed the season for it.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 3 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…

We need God’s help to keep us on track, focused and moving in the right season.

He will give us discernment in having the right people to stand with us, support and help us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-10-17

John 6:41-42 (NKJV) 41 The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.” 42 And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”

Jesus was disrespected by people who knew his earthly father. They thought that because they knew his earthly origins He couldn’t possibly be who He said He was.

Do we ever experience this in our own lives? Do we feel like maybe we’re disrespected by people who know us just because they are familiar with us?

Sometimes friends and family can be our toughest critics. And sometimes they’re downright impossible when it comes to ministering to them or getting them to believe what God has shown us or done in our lives.

Familiarity is something that can be hard to overcome, especially in these types of situations. For some reason, just because people know us personally, they just won’t hear anything we say.

But that’s OK. It didn’t stop Jesus from carrying out His earthly work. And it shouldn’t stop us either!

The best thing we can do is put our efforts into those who will listen, and just continue to love those who won’t listen, even if it means loving them from a distance. And leave it to God to touch their hearts.

Don’t let it get you down. And, in the words of Jesus;

Matthew 10:14 (NKJV) 14 And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.
