Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-18

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

It’s very important that we learn and understand that God loves us and wants to help us. He’s not there to yell at us or hurt us. He wants to teach us, train us and bring us up to higher ground.

Once we understand this, our striving to be accepted by people will subside and eventually stop.

It’s nice to have good friends and family around us at times. It makes us feel good and feel accepted. But, there will come a time in our life, if we are serious about getting closer to God, when He will call us out for a season. He will call us away from those friends and family members, wanting us to spend less time with them and more time with Him.

During this time, we will learn many things. He will teach us to lean on Him more than on our family and friends.

We may feel alone at first, and almost feel like we are going backwards. But God knows and will help us through those lonely and discouraging moments. It’s a time of removing the things that don’t belong and enhancing those things that do. You might call it a heart-to-heart cleansing.

During this season He will teach us how to trust Him. He will teach us the importance of running to Him with everything first. He will teach us to be ourselves. And to see ourselves, even in times when it may hurt.

Change, and the cleansing of our hearts, does not come unless we see the need for it. But, the Lord is gracious and gives us the time and help to do so.

If we feel alone today, don’t be discouraged. It may be our season for us to learn more about who we are, who God wants us to become, the changes we need to make and what God wants to do with us and through us.

Embrace this time with Him, that we may move forward with a steadfast spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-13-17

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

We can get a hard heart just by listening to and watching people do negative things around us or to us. If we listen enough and we take it to heart, what they say and do can cause us to get angry and upset on the inside.

Even though we aren’t the ones doing and saying them, the things we see and hear can definitely affect our own hearts.

How do we keep ourselves from letting our hearts get hard when we’re exposed to these things over long periods of time?

We have to be careful to let God examine us and help us not to take on what others are doing and saying. We can’t let it reside in us.

When we hear and see such things, it does bother us and it should to some degree. But, instead of letting it give us an attitude, we need to turn it over to God, asking Him to help in that very situation.

Holding onto to the negative things we see and hear all day long, whether in our home, on our job, in our church, out on the streets or wherever else we may go will build a “wall” up in our own hearts.

And if we’re not careful, our talk and our actions can become like theirs.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-3-15

Matthew 15:11 (NKJV) 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

What does defile mean?

Defile: To make unclean or impure: as to corrupt the purity or perfection of. To violate the chastity of: to make physically unclean especially with something unpleasant or contaminating.

It’s important that we understand it is the things in us, those things in our heart, that we need to surrender to God if we truly want to be changed.

We can say things and do things right all day long, but that is merely surface stuff. It is outward works.

If we don’t let God change the inside of us and help us to get deliverance in the areas where we need it, we will still be subject to things that can cause problems throughout our lives. Our walk with God and our relationships with others will continue to suffer.

What is in our very own heart can defile the good work that God is trying to do in us.

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Let God put His finger on it today; on that thing that we’ve been hiding in our heart that keeps us in bondage. Our hearts need cleaning, that we may be steadfast in all that He has for us to do.
