Bible Verse of The Day – 7-24-17

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NKJV) 11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

As members of the body of Christ, we all have different needs during different seasons of our lives. Sometimes we feel like we can fly. Other times, depending on what we may be going through at that time, we might feel like we can barely walk.

But this is one of the reasons why we function as a body, so we can help and support each other when we need it.

It’s critical that we remember others and learn to reach out and help when we see a need. Sometimes a helping hand or an encouraging word can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Sometimes it can even mean the difference between hope and desperation for someone.

Helping others isn’t always easy. Nobody ever said it would be. But we need to always try to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes so we learn to recognize needs when they arise and understand the importance of being that helping hand for that person.

The biggest way to learn to help others is to remember how it feels when we are in need and someone helps us.

So, pray for each other. Comfort each other. And do whatever we can when a need arises.

It can change the life of a person in need when they see God’s light shine through us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-23-17

Philippians 2:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

Sometimes when we are asked to do something that maybe we didn’t plan on doing, or that we have never done before, it can cause us to get a little aggravated, frustrated and uncomfortable. Sometimes it can even mess up our whole day and throw us for a loop, so to speak.

Learning how to respond to these types of situations can help us a great deal.

We are not always prepared for that question. “Would you help me with this?” Or “can you do this for me today?”.

How about the desperate last-minute-Joe, “can you pick me up? I don’t have any way to get to such and such a place and I have to be there now”?

These types of questions are usually put out there along with a feeling of urgency or pressure. This makes us feel very uncomfortable and we don’t know how to say no because we feel bad or we are caught off guard. But instead, we say yes and then we start to gripe about it.

When things like this come our way, remember, it’s OK to be uncomfortable or put out of our way at times to help someone. But we also need to have boundaries. Especially if it continues to interfere with our responsibilities.

Stepping out of our little comfort zone is good for us all. Being thrown off our schedule at times, because we have to do something for someone else, is good for us all.

But having a nice balance will help us to act in a mature and reasonable manner. Whether they like it or not, keep it balanced.

Bible Verse of The Day – When We Think You’re Done – 5-21-17

Greetings in the name of Jesus!

Have you ever been in a situation where you’ve helped someone through a situation, and you feel like you’ve gone above and beyond the call? You think you’re done with it, but God is saying otherwise!

We just recorded a new video on this topic, called “When We Think We’re Done”.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Most times when we help others, we have one idea about it, but God has other ideas. So it’s up to us to choose whether we follow God’s leading or do what we think is right.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We think you’ll find what we share quite interesting, especially in light of the fact that it’s based on our own experiences with these very same situations.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Enjoy the rest of your day and be blessed in all you do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-17

John 10:18 (NKJV) 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

In this verse, Jesus is speaking about the fact that He will be laying down His life. He specifically says He will do it willingly. He also said that no one can take it from Him. He did what he did of His own accord.

As followers of Christ, we have His example to follow in our day to day lives.

We won’t usually be required to lay our lives down in the literal sense, whereby we cease to exist. But we should be willing to lay our lives down for others in many other ways.

God has blessed each and every one of us in many, many ways. We all have skills, talents and abilities that he has given us. We need to make sure that we are using those skills, abilities and talents to be a blessing to others around us.

All of us know someone who could use our help or assistance in some way. Maybe it’s something small. Maybe it’s something major. Either way, we are accountable to our Father and we need to make sure we’re handling our blessings properly.

Many reading this have been blessed financially. If that’s the case, those finances should also be used to help others, as God leads and directs. Many times it’s easy to spend our money on things that we don’t really need. Because we are barraged with advertisements and social media, we feel like we’re missing out on things if we don’t run out and buy them.

But, as with our skills and talents, we need to be willing to obey God’s voice and use the finances He has blessed us with to bless others who might be in need. It’s always easy to think that “someone else will do it”. But we need to remember that we are that someone else.

And as we follow Jesus and grow in our walk with Him, we should find it easier and easier to lay our lives down for others.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-21-17

Philippians 2:3 (NKJV) 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Having the right intentions when doing things for others is the key in being a blessing and shining God’s light. Our motives have to be for the right reasons.

If we help someone out, do it because we really want to, not because we want to get something out of it. We shouldn’t do it because we feel pressured into it, but because we honestly and truly want to help them, with no strings attached.

Be careful when helping others that we don’t get stuck constantly being the one to pull them out of their troubles. God may use us for a season and then pull us away.

This isn’t to be mean or hurtful in any way. But seasons come and go, and sometimes the season for helping one person or situation may end so that the season for another may begin.

Having the right heart and discernment in what we do stems from knowing God, and getting close to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-17

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

When the need for help calls, do we hear it? Are we willing to give up whatever we have going on to reach out? Or does it have to be convenient for us? Does it have to fit in our schedule, time frame or plan?

It’s easy to help when it’s convenient. But, when it’s not convenient and we have to put our things aside, this is when it can be very challenging.

This is when we will have to hold ourselves, our thoughts, our words, our judgments from rising up and being negative about the situation or the person(s) involved.

We have been called to help those who are sick.

Mark 2:17 (NKJV) 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Those that fall down again and again. Those that mess up over and over. Those are the sick. They need someone to stand with them at times. Someone to help shine the light on that dark place within them, that they can’t seem to fight on their own. We can’t give up on them.

There may also be times when God will ask us to pull back in certain situations for whatever reasons, and for however long.

In those moments, we must obey Him, even if we don’t understand it and it looks like we need to help. Sometimes staying out of a situation for a little while can be the help that person or situation needed.

Listen for God’s timing in helping. Stand strong and don’t judge it one way or the other.

Thank God for the opportunity to be a light in a dark place or situation.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-30-16

1 John 4:12(NKJV) 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

When we do something out of kindness and love, for someone who is in trouble, struggling, lonely, mistreated, etc., we just took advantage of an opportunity to show them God and His love toward them.

Even though no one has seen God at any time, through our actions of love, using our hands, feet, words, finances, and whatever else God shows us to do for others, His love becomes perfected in us.

God’s love is shown through our actions. The very things we do for others. The very way we carry ourselves.

If we get upset and we start flipping out, hollering and accusing, looking down at someone because of their weakness, errors, faults, etc., we then completely give up what could be the only opportunity we may get to show them God.

Be alert and on guard for these moments. Not only will they change the life of someone in need, but they will change our lives as well, as we see God move through us.

Love you all. Keep on being a light!

Matthew 5:14 (NKJV) 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-22-16

Proverbs 15:3 (NKJV) 3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good.

The things we do that are good are not insignificant. They are being noticed. We are not wasting time or energy as we do the things God asks us to do.

They may seem little at times, and at other times they may seem overwhelming. But know that every time we step out in obedience, whether for something little or something big, God is watching.

We don’t need men to applaud us. We don’t need rewards or a pat on the back. We need to know that when we do good, God is the One who is watching.

When we go the extra mile, take that extra step, the step that no one else wants to take. When we put ourselves aside and we do for others. When we get up earlier than normal and pray for someone’s need. Or we give from our heart something that means a great deal to us, God is watching.

The good things we do don’t get swept under the carpet and lost in the shuffle. Know that you are doing a great job. Keep it up and don’t pull back just because nobody says anything or it seems that you are unappreciated. God is watching.

2 Chronicles 15:7 (NKJV) 7 But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-7-16

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Christmas is just around the corner. Everyone is busy shopping, planning parties and family gatherings. It sure is a great celebration.

In all the excitement and extra work that goes into planning for these events, it’s very easy to lose track or forget about the importance of why we are doing what we do.

It’s a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ; the very One who came to this earth to serve.

This can be a great opportunity for us to shine His light as we make sure those people He puts on our hearts are taken care of during this season.

Maybe they are going to be alone at Christmas, or they are financially struggling and going through a tough time.

Maybe there is someone we know who works so hard, but hardly ever gets noticed, so we take the time and do something kind for them.

What a way to celebrate Jesus and what He did for us, by taking time and caring for the one we know who needs a little something this Christmas.

We might think “what difference will it make to do this for just one person? It’s so little when there are so many in need. Why bother?”.

But if we all focused on just one, and there are thousands of us, that would be many “just ONES”! Amen.

Let God speak to our hearts this Christmas season and show us that “one”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-2-16

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Is there someone that God has laid upon our hearts today to reach out to and give to? Maybe it’s just praying for them. Maybe it’s calling them up and checking on them. Maybe it’s buying them groceries, or sending them a card. There are all kinds of ways of giving.

One day our doorbell rang. We went to answer it and there was someone we knew standing there with a freshly baked, hot pizza. They said to us “we thought you might like this today”.

Oh boy, did we ever! We thanked them and brought it into the house. We sat down and gave God thanks. What a blessing it was. It was delicious!

When God gives us manna, TAKE it! When God gives us an opportunity to bless someone TAKE ii!

That person listened to God and blessed us. They will truly receive in the same measure that they blessed us with.

Are we being givers today? This is one of the questions we don’t like to ask ourselves sometimes because we may not like the answer. But we need to check ourselves.

We can get so caught up in busyness or taking care of ourselves that we miss out on an opportunity to be a blessing to someone.

Today, as we begin our day, we need to tell ourselves that we are going to be a giver. We are going to keep our eyes, ears and heart open to God and let Him lead us in this. Amen.
