Bible Verse of The Day – 5-12-20

Ephesians 4:28 (NKJV) 28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.

One of the things that this ministry is based on is prayerfully giving to those in need. We say prayerfully because we have learned over the years that “God giving” is better than “people giving just because”.

For example, if God lays something on our heart to do for someone, even if we don’t understand why and we just do it, it is so much more powerful than us trying to figure out what to give to someone on our own. When we do this, we are truly His hands and feet.

There are some that have never experienced such God-given gifts. Boy, is it fulfilling, but not just for the receiver. I think the giver is even more ecstatic if they have the opportunity to see and feel the emotions from the receiver.

Sometimes, though, gifts are given in secret, so we never get to see or experience this. But this doesn’t remove or negate the excitement of giving!

We need to be prayerful about our giving. And to be clear, we are not talking about tithes. Our tithe is not meant to be negotiable and/or questionable. It is what it is and we need to automatically give to God the 10 percent He has asked us for.

We are talking about giving above and beyond our tithe.

God will sometimes lay on our hearts to give something to someone and it is a great time to sow a very important seed.

Be prayerful about our giving. Make every little bit of it count. God is faithful to do His part.

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-20

Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV) 25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

Have you ever heard the saying, “what goes around, comes around”?

It’s true, and it’s a Biblical principle!

Some people may not like to give credit to God for this simple truth. They may attach other names to it, like karma, etc. Regardless, though, it is something that God put into motion in the very beginning.

This is a very simple principle; you get what you give. And this truth can apply to every aspect of our lives.

If we give kindness, we will reap kindness. If we give joy, we will reap joy. If we give of our finances, we will reap financially. If we give mercy, we will be shown mercy. And the list could go on infinitely.

The most important thing we need to remember is that this is not a tool that we use for personal gain. We don’t give just to get. Our heart and our motive needs to be right.

But be sure that God’s word is true. He never lies. So, if we expect to be blessed in any way at all, we also need to be giving in that very same way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-22-20

2 Corinthians 9:6 (NKJV) 6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

God loves when we give.

Not only does He love when we give, but He loves when we give bountifully and with a right attitude (cheerfully), not grudgingly or with a bad attitude.

This takes on new meaning when we begin to look at the Greek text and the various translations that are available.

The word to look at here is “bountifully”.

The Greek word used in the original texts is the same Greek word where the English word “eulogy” is derived from. When we think of a eulogy, we tend to relate that to a funeral. But in reality, it means “blessing”.

When a eulogy is spoken at a funeral, it is a blessing to those who hear it, as well as a verbal blessing over the person who has passed.

So, in reality, what Paul was saying is that if we sow (give) bountifully (to bless others), we will also reap (get) bountifully (a blessing returned to us).

It’s important to remember that we don’t give to get. We give because we want others to be blessed. We give because God has told us to do so.

But God established this principle thousands of years ago; if we give, we get. It’s very simple in its most basic form.

It’s when man tries to twist it or pervert it that it begins to get complicated and out of line with what God intended.

What God is telling us overall is that what we receive will be proportionate with what we give, and the attitude with which we give it.

Let’s give bountifully, as Jesus Himself told us to do!

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-17

John 10:18 (NKJV) 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

In this verse, Jesus is speaking about the fact that He will be laying down His life. He specifically says He will do it willingly. He also said that no one can take it from Him. He did what he did of His own accord.

As followers of Christ, we have His example to follow in our day to day lives.

We won’t usually be required to lay our lives down in the literal sense, whereby we cease to exist. But we should be willing to lay our lives down for others in many other ways.

God has blessed each and every one of us in many, many ways. We all have skills, talents and abilities that he has given us. We need to make sure that we are using those skills, abilities and talents to be a blessing to others around us.

All of us know someone who could use our help or assistance in some way. Maybe it’s something small. Maybe it’s something major. Either way, we are accountable to our Father and we need to make sure we’re handling our blessings properly.

Many reading this have been blessed financially. If that’s the case, those finances should also be used to help others, as God leads and directs. Many times it’s easy to spend our money on things that we don’t really need. Because we are barraged with advertisements and social media, we feel like we’re missing out on things if we don’t run out and buy them.

But, as with our skills and talents, we need to be willing to obey God’s voice and use the finances He has blessed us with to bless others who might be in need. It’s always easy to think that “someone else will do it”. But we need to remember that we are that someone else.

And as we follow Jesus and grow in our walk with Him, we should find it easier and easier to lay our lives down for others.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-5-16

Acts 20:35 (NKJV) 35 I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

“I pray that God blesses you”.

“God’s blessings over you!”.

“May God bless you abundantly”.

How many times have we spoken these kinds of words to someone? We want God to bless them because of something they’ve done, either for you or someone you know. They’ve been generous, helpful or kind and you want God to somehow reward them. It’s happened to all of us.

But here’s a challenge for everyone today!

If we’re impressed that someone should be blessed, we need to consider the fact that maybe, just maybe, we’re the one that God wants to use to bless them!

That’s right. Us. You & me.

For some odd reason, we always hope someone will be blessed, but we fail to ever consider the fact that maybe God wants to use us to do the blessing. We always expect someone else to do it.

When we do this, we cause someone else to lose out on a blessing. We also lose out on a blessing ourselves, because we’ve disregarded or ignored God’s promptings.

Most times we do this because of a lack of understanding. Sometimes we do this because we don’t want to let go of our money or our possessions. Either way, it’s something that we may need to check ourselves on and let God show us where to make changes.

But it’s important that we do make the necessary changes. Because knowing that God requires something of us and not doing it is never a good situation to be in.

1 Samuel 15:22 (NKJV) 22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.
