Bible Verse of The Day – 6-7-23

James 2:18 (NKJV) 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Following God, and obeying His leading, is easier for some than for others.

Some people do their best to follow God but find it difficult to keep doing so when the rubber meets the road and God asks them to do something difficult or uncomfortable.

Others seem to have less difficulty, seemingly zipping down the path of life and never batting an eye, even when God places something before them to do that’s difficult.

The difference between the two people lies in how much they really trust God.

Both say they trust God and have faith in Him, but their actions speak much louder than their words.

If we say we trust Him, but we run away when facing difficulties or when He asks us to do something hard, then our trust isn’t what we might think or say it is.

The test of a believer is when God puts His finger on something in our lives and asks us to obey Him.

When life is going well for us, we usually have no trouble obeying Him and doing what He asks. But when we’re being pinched, and things are tough, we may start to hesitate and make excuses to try to avoid stepping out and obeying.

Now, let’s get real and talk about something that’s extremely sensitive, and very telling when God puts His finger on it and asks us to obey Him; money.

Money is something so few believers want God to put His finger on and ask them to part with.

But the believer who has strong faith, and who truly trusts God with everything, will obey Him and do whatever God asks them to do with the money and material things He has blessed them with. And they will trust God to continue to provide for them in whatever way He sees fit.

Why?

Because they know and understand that everything they have is His, not theirs.

It all belongs to Him!

We are stewards. Nothing more, nothing less.

Steward: a person who manages another’s personal or financial affairs or possessions. administrator, manager, agent

What we have been given possession of is only for a season. There just might come a time when God asks us to open our hands and pour out what He has entrusted us with.

And that day will tell us a lot about ourselves.

That day will eventually come for each and every one of us.

What will we do? Will we clench our fists tightly, determined to hold on to what God wants us to surrender, or will we open our hands and say, “here it is, Father. Do with it as you will”.

Which one are we?

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-22

Romans 4:20-21 (NKJV) 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.

Sometimes God requires us to do hard things.

Sometimes those things seem downright impossible. But that’s because we look at them through human eyes, analyzing them by human standards.

Serving God fully requires that we change that, learning to look at things through God’s eyes, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Abraham had to do this. He had to look beyond his age and Sarah’s dead womb to believe that God’s promise of a son would be fulfilled.

God is the God of the impossible. He is miraculous in His nature. He does what man says can’t be done in ways that man could never even conceive in his finite mind.

This is something that we all need to remember and hold close to our hearts.

It’s something that we need to be reminded of every now and then, so we don’t lose hope and let our faith in Him falter and grow dim.

On the contrary, as we face challenges and impossible situations, our faith needs to grow stronger, not become weak and impotent.

Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born. Sarah had not been able to conceive or bear a single child her entire life.

Despite this seemingly impossible situation, God made good on His promise. And Isaac was born.

This is our God; the God who makes the impossible more than possible by His mighty hand.

Matthew 19:26 (NKJV) 26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-21

Isaiah 31:1 (NKJV) 1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the Lord!

People put their trust in many things.

And as we watch the world deteriorate before our very eyes, we see people moving further and further away from trusting God and putting their trust more heavily in man and governments.

While this is extremely frustrating to watch, it is to be expected to some degree because of the season in which we live.

God’s word has told us that this would happen. He spells it out plainly in many ways.

But know this; putting our trust in anyone other than God himself is a slippery slope that will ultimately lead to destruction.

The season in which we are living requires that we have discernment, and that we are diligent in our efforts to stay in tune with His spirit.

Doing so gives us an inside edge to see things that others may not see, and to make choices and decisions based not on intellect, but on God-given wisdom and understanding.

God comes first in all things. His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.

There is none like Him on the earth below or in the heavens above.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-21

Hebrews 13:6 (NKJV) 6 So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

I love God with all my heart. And I don’t say that lightly.

Every day that goes by proves to me more and more that He is our one true source of hope.

No matter what I see happening, whether on a personal level or on a global scale, God is my Helper. And because He is my helper, I will not fear the things that I see.

Life can be scary for those who are apart from God. And I will admit that even with God, it can be pretty challenging sometimes, causing us to shrink back on occasion as unexpected things confront us.

But God never shrinks back. And because He dwells within us, we shouldn’t shrink back either.

Sometimes that’s easier said than done, but there is a reality in that statement that we, as believers, need to embrace boldly in our lives.

That still might not always make it easy for us, but it should give us courage to stand when we need to stand, fight when we need to fight and look not to our own intellect for answers, but to the Spirit of God, whom Jesus called our Helper.

And, as we are told in Romans, if God is for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:31 (NKJV) 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

So, when we face the hard things, we need to stand strong in our faith, and look to Jesus, the author and finisher of that faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-19-21

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

As each day goes by, I live by this scripture more and more.

We are living in a time where we absolutely need to trust God 100%. There’s no other way for us to move ahead and be who He wants us to be if we’re not trusting Him in absolutely everything.

I wrestle constantly with what we’re seeing. I watch evil in plain sight. It is blatant. It is in your face. It makes no effort to hide.

But no matter what we see, I know that God’s providence will play out and that His plans are better than my plans or your plans.

I will admit that I would love nothing more than to wake up one morning and see that He has swept His hand across the globe and taken care of everything that we see happening.

But that is not my choice to make. It is His. And His ways are much higher than ours.

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

He sees everything; the big picture. We see only in part.

So, I will lean on His understanding, not mine. I will walk by His plans, not mine. And when I’m having one of those moments where I feel like I can’t take seeing one more evil plot carried out in plain sight, I will surrender it to Him and trust Him even more.

In the meantime, I will continue to stand on His word, His truth and freedom in Jesus Christ.

I invite you to stand with me and watch as God carries out His perfect plan.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-14-18

Matthew 18:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

We often hear the phrase “childlike faith”. Truthfully, though, the actual phrase “childlike faith” is not found anywhere in the Bible.

Despite that fact, the principle of childlike faith really is there in the verses above.

Jesus called a little child over to Him and used children to make a point; unless we are converted and “become like little children”, we will never enter into the kingdom of God.

To the casual observer, this might not seem like much. But, honestly, this is a very deep, extremely important Biblical truth.

What does this mean and why is it so important to our walk with God?

Because God wants us to look to Him and trust Him as a little child trusts their earthly father.

Think about it. As children grow up, they trust their parents without reservation and without fear. They just know that if they have a need that it will be met. If they are hurting, they will be comforted. If they are hungry, they will be fed. If they are cold, they will be warmed up.

As we grow up, we learn to become self-sufficient. We no longer depend on our parents. We take care of ourselves. We provide for ourselves and our needs.

Sadly, we also tend to do this with God. We grow up as believers and we tend to leave Him behind because we think we have everything it takes to live our lives. But this isn’t how He intends it to be.

God wants us to look to Him just as we looked to our earthly parents when we were small children, trusting Him for absolutely everything about our lives.

He wants us to let Him supply our needs, to comfort us when we’re hurting and to feed us when we’re hungry.

This doesn’t mean that we simply sit back and wait for God to do everything for us. It means that we look to Him to lead us and show us which way to go and how to do what is needed to accomplish the things that need to be accomplished in order for us to be nurtured, cared for, sustained and comforted.

As adults, this takes a lot of practice. It requires us to allow God to tear down all of the walls that we have built between us and Him. It requires that we stop trying to be so self-sufficient, trying to handle everything ourselves, even as He is reaching out and trying to help us.

But as we take the time to get into His word and let His word get into us, He will begin to undo all of the fears and hang-ups that we have that cause us not to trust Him.

And instead, He will teach us how to trust Him as a child trusts their earthly parents, with no hesitation and no reservations.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-5-18

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV) 7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

These are beautiful words of wisdom, promise and knowledge!

Who will be blessed? The man who puts His trust and hope in the Lord, not in material things, not in financial riches, and not in big success.

This is the man that will be blessed. He will be blessed in all areas of his life! He will be blessed in his schooling, his home, his work, his family, his health, and his relationships.

Why? Because he has settled in his heart to give his all to God. He holds nothing from Him.

If God is touching our heart right now and asking us to give something very personal to Him, will we do it? Will we give to Him that particular thing that we hold dear to our hearts? Or are we going to say, “NO, Not now God. We need it for our security. It’s really nothing anyways”.

If we cannot let it go, then it’s more than NOTHING to us.

Let’s not put our trust in anything other than the Lord, that we too may continue to walk in His blessings every day. Amen.
