Bible Verse of The Day – 9-5-13

(1 Corinthians 2:12 NKJV)  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

There have been times that God has promised me things and He has brought them in, but I often hear these words right before the breakthrough comes…”Stay close to me.”

Why would God say to stay close to Him, when His word says that when we receive Him as our personal Lord and Savior that His Spirit lives in us? This was a question I would ponder often.

What I have learned over the years is that even though God, through the blood of Jesus, lives in us upon receiving salvation, we still play an important part in working with Him to keep ourselves close.

You see, God’s Spirit is in us, but He doesn’t always have the freedom to lead, guide or give advice. It is up to us to let Him do this.

God gives us a free will and we have to be the ones to remain close to Him. Staying close simply means always listening and watching, staying alert to Him, giving Him the freedom to help at all times, guide at all times and walk us through everyday stuff at all times… not just when we get in trouble or have a bad report. He wants us to be aware of Him at ALL times.

Stay close to God and let Him birth His will in us, bringing it to pass as we walk hand in hand with Him. Oh how glorious it is taking steps with the Omnipresent, Omnipotent Jehovah, the Alpha & Omega!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-28-12

(Matthew 26:41 NKJV)  “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Making choices to do what is right is going to take getting our spirit to line up with God’s Word and His Spirit.

How do we get our spirit lined up with Him? The Bible teaches us all about God. Every scripture we take in will feed our spirit with good wisdom and knowledge to help us make the right decisions.

Our flesh will fight against this but we have the authority in Christ to stop the fight.

If you feel like you are always battling with the flesh about things that you know you shouldn’t be doing, then it’s time for you to stop the battle and command the desires of your flesh to submit to the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name.

Say no to the flesh and its weakness and say YES to God!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-8-12

(James 4:10 NKJV)  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Our prayer today is that each and every one of us will do just this.

Humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord; It simply means to give Him our lives. Give to Him what bothers us, what eats away at us, what pulls on us, what causes us to worry, etc.

Humbling ourselves means to let go of the ways we so want to do things and let God do whatever He wants in us and through us, by changing us and making us HIS!

So many times I pray “God, let Your will be done”. But let me say this, sometimes when it comes right down to it, I don’t always mean what I’m saying. I don’t always like His will and the way He wants to do things. That is where I must humble myself and do it His way in spite of what I think or feel.

Jesus said it Himself before being crucified, (Luke 22:42 NKJV)  saying, not My will, but Yours, be done.

Let us come humbly today and let Him lift us up.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-5-12

(Exo 4:10 NKJV)  Then Moses said to the LORD, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”

I remember several years ago sharing a message on a Sunday morning entitled “You’re Hired”.

God had shown me how He uses us in the most unlikely ways and the thing that we were least prepared to do in the natural was the “job” that He would hire us for.

Why? Because then He gets the glory, not us. When we accomplish something that we’re not naturally prepared for, there’s no way we can take the credit for it. It all goes to God!

He also showed me that when we aren’t prepped for a certain task, we’re less likely to over-think it and mess it up, as long as we trust Him. It’s trusting in Him that’s the key to accomplishing what He wants us to do.

The last thing Moses wanted was to have to face Pharaoh and demand that he let the Israelites go. He wasn’t fit. He had a speech problem and he wasn’t eloquent. But God used Him anyway and He got all of the glory.

Let God use you in ways that you’re not prepared for. It’s the way He likes it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-29-12

(Mat 26:39 NKJV)  He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

Jesus prayed this prayer while in a place called Gethsemane.

As He was about to face the brutal beatings and then, ultimately, death on the cross for the sins of all humans, Jesus was under tremendous stress. He literally told the Father that if there was any other way for the sins of man to be taken away, please let it be so.

But He went on to say “Not my will, but yours”.

Each and every one of us has our own Gethsemane. We may not literally be in a garden, or facing death for the sins of the world. But we will all have, or have already had a turning point in our lives where we will surrender to God’s will for our lives, or we will turn and walk away.

Has God asked you to surrender yourself to Him? He asks all of us to surrender to Him at some point. It’s what being a follower of Christ is really all about. God wants 100% of us, not just a small piece.

If you’ve surrendered your life to God already, you know what a blessing it can be. No, it’s not always easy, but knowing that you’re sold out to God and walking the path He has set before you is an awesome experience that is life-changing.

If you’ve not yet had your own Gethsemane experience, it will come. God asks every single one of us to surrender to Him at some point.

Make sure you’re prepared and that you follow in the steps of Jesus and say to God, “not my will but yours”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-12

(Psa 51:10 NKJV) Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Our prayer today is that this verse speaks to us in such a way that in everything we do, we do it for God. Whether it’s at work or at home, wherever we go, may this verse be so fresh on our minds that we would think twice before we say or do things that would be against what God has taught us.

If we want to grow and have a deeper relationship with Christ, a beautiful marriage a good relationship with our children etc., the first step in making anything better is to get our own hearts right with God.

This means that we need to take a good look at ourselves and the things that we’re doing and let God help us to make the necessary changes that need to be made in us.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-23-12

(Jer 1:5 NKJV) “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

God does prepare. He prepared Jeremiah; He formed, He sanctified, and He ordained him.

We may feel that God wants to use us to do something big, but we talk ourselves out of it, thinking that we aren’t good enough or that we don’t have what it takes to do the job. Look at Noah; God gave Him clear-cut directions when he was called to build the Ark. (Gen 6:14-21 NKJV)  If God gives us something to do, He will make sure we have what it takes to do the job. We just have to follow His commands.

Moses was kind of funny when God asked him to go and free his children of Israel out of the hands of the Egyptians. He tried to get out of it by saying he couldn’t speak well. (Exo 4:10 NKJV) Then Moses said to the LORD, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”

But, God didn’t buy it. He had Moses bring his brother Aaron with him because Aaron could speak well. Nevertheless, Moses still went on to do as God commanded him to do.

Know that if God is calling you into something that He will prepare you. Take a step of faith today and say yes to Him. He will train you and prepare you. He will help you as you lean on Him for direction. As you trust Him, He will guide you. He will not leave us to do it on our own, but He will be right there every step of the way.

You may already be in a place that God wants to use you to help someone get free. Don’t run from it, but press in and pursue God’s plan.
