Your Daily Bible Verse

(Isa 61:3 NKJV)  To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

Life isn’t always full of the things that we would like it to be. Sometimes things come our way that challenge us, test us and downright scare us.

But God has made us a promise. He has promised us that no matter what we go through, no mater how dark things might seem sometimes, that He will take ashes and give us beauty in return. He will take our mourning and give us the oil of joy.

Do you know why He gives us the oil of Joy? Because oil covers everything; it runs down and covers whatever it was poured on, and saturates it.

We need the oil of joy. It’s God’s way of wiping away our mourning and sadness and replacing it with His gladness.

Let the oil of joy run down over you today and permeate your spirit.

Your Daily Bible Verse

(Heb 11:3 NKJV)  By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Every once in a while I happen to read this verse and it hits me all over again as to the depth of what this is saying. Seriously… this is very deep stuff!

God created everything we see, from absolutely nothing. He didn’t have something to start with, to create everything from. There was nothing and then He spoke and there was everything. Take a minute and think about that.

As powerful as science appears to be to some people, science always has to start with something to make other things. Not a single human being can make something from nothing. Only God can do that!

We all understand God differently, but no matter how we perceive Him or comprehend Him, He’s more incredible and awesome than our own minds can ever fully understand.

Take a minute today and give Him praise.

Your Daily Bible Verse

(Heb 12:14 NKJV) Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

How many of us like to get the last word in, only because we think we’re right? How many times did we walk away from a conversation having to justify in our heads that what we just did was good because we were right in what we were saying, yet feeling yucky and disturbed on the inside?

If it doesn’t feel right on the inside, then don’t ignore that feeling. There are times, whether we’re right or not, that we need to peacefully walk away. We are here to serve God and God wants more than anything for people to give their hearts to HIM. If we are standing there arguing with people then how does He win them over?

There are times when the truth is spoken, but in doing so it is spoken in LOVE not in anger. God’s timing is perfect.

God is looking for a people that will pursue peace, and holiness, and in doing so they may see HIM!!

Your Daily Bible Verse

(James 4:13-14 NKJV)  Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; {14} whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

I know we have touched on this subject and these scriptures before, but they are always worth repeating, even if just as a gentle reminder for each of us.

Yesterday there was a horrible car accident not too far from where we live. In this accident, which involved two cars, two people lost their lives. One was an innocent driver, a man 68 years of age, who appears to have gotten hit by the other driver. The driver of the other car was the father of a 7 year old boy. The boy is now fatherless and the wife of the other man is now a widow.

It has become almost cliché to talk about how fragile life is and how short it is. But I am here to tell you today that it is the absolute truth. Not a single one of us is guaranteed a tomorrow.

We all tend to plan our lives and look so far ahead that we lose track of today… the right here and right now. We put off things that we should be doing, because we think we can do them tomorrow, or next week or next month.

Tragedies like these tend to be reminders for each of us as to the fragility of life, but we need to remember this every single day, even without seeing a tragedy.

I ask each of you today to work hard to keep your priorities straight and be sure to love those around you, giving them the time they deserve. We are all guilty of not calling that person when we should, or giving that someone a hug when we should.

Today, love like you mean it.
