Bible Verse of The Day – 12-30-17

1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

It’s funny that we always seem to associate God with Big, booming, exciting things.

A loud voice from heaven, tremendous miracles that cause everyone to gasp or stand in awe, or any number of other similar things always seem to stand out to us.

Despite what we think, though, God is most often found in the things that are easily missed. And the closer we draw to Him, the more easily we begin to recognize those small, subtle, quiet things.

Early morning quiet time, gentle whispers of reassurance, reminders of His love for us, that gentle knowing deep inside of us and seeing His word stand out to us when we read it are some of the things that we will begin to see and appreciate when we begin to press in and learn of Him.

And while amazing, eye-catching miracles, and signs and wonders are incredible to behold, it is our relationship with Him that pulls us through from day to day, no matter what comes against us.

Press into Him. Draw near to Him. Listen for that still small voice. And be in awe.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-29-17

1 Samuel 15:22 (NKJV) 22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

Sometimes we may feel obligated to enter into a position we’ve been asked to volunteer for, even when we know it’s not for us. We can feel pressured into something, which can cause us to give in and do it anyway, even though we know in our heart that it’s not something we should do.

We might feel like we should do it because we’re afraid that no one else will. Or maybe the person/people that are asking us to take on this particular task will be upset if we don’t take it. We don’t want to cause conflict. In our heart, we truly want to help, but what we’re being asked to do just isn’t what we feel led to help with.

Seeking God first is important when we are asked to take on any position, whether within the church or outside the church. Obeying God should always come before making any type of sacrifice.

It’s easy to think that maybe God wants us to do these things just because we are being asked by certain people to do it, even if it doesn’t feel right on the inside. But that’s not always the case.

It’s important to pay attention to those feelings we have on the inside. We need to go after God and ask Him why we feel the way we do.

God has certain people for certain jobs, within the church, and even outside the church. He works with people and prepares them for certain tasks, and He knows their hearts. He knows when someone is ready for a specific position.

Stepping into someone else’s position, whether asked or not, will not only cause problems within that position, but it will affect our lives as well, even if we are doing it in the name of HELP or sacrifice.

Take time today and make sure that what we have said yes to is what we are supposed to be doing. Being in that place/position that we belong in will bring peace to our heart, mind and soul.

Obedience is better than sacrifice. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-28-17

Matthew 5:13 (NKJV) 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

There is much to be gleaned from this verse.

If we really look at it and let God speak to us, He will reveal the truth of this verse to us, and it will be life-changing.

Salt is something that everyone is familiar with. It’s one of the most common seasonings in the entire world.

Salt changes the flavor of everything it is used on or in. Everything. And the change is usually very noticeable.

Jesus has told us that we are the salt of the earth. We really need to get understanding on this one.

As the salt of the earth, we should be bringing change everywhere we are present, to everyone we come into contact with.

Our presence in a place and our interactions with people should bring some kind of transformation or adjustment that can be seen or felt. It might not always be a major change, but there should be evidence of our presence in some way.

Salt changes the things it comes into contact with, even if the amount of salt is very small. But the things that touch salt do not change the salt easily.

Salt is strong. Its presence rarely goes unnoticed.

And so it should be with us. As the salt of the earth, we should be the “change bringers”… the ones who have a positive, lasting effect on others.

Just as salt is not easily changed by other things, we should also not be changed by others that we come into contact with, especially in a negative way or a way that’s not pleasing to God.

If we are being changed in a negative way, it would be safe to say that our walk with God is probably not where it needs to be. It’s time for us to let God check our heart and help us see where we have fallen back. And then we need to let Him put our feet back on His path and strengthen us by His spirit.

So, here’s the test that we can use to check ourselves.

Do we use language that we would never consider using before? Do we watch TV shows, movies or other forms of media that we would never have watched at an earlier time in our walk with God because we knew that it wasn’t right?

Do we act in different ways now than we would have acted at an earlier season in our lives? Do we find certain things acceptable that we previously thought were unacceptable?

This is usually evidence of us compromising God’s standards and allowing others to influence us, instead of us influencing them.

We would like to appeal to you today to let God show you where you’re at. Where is our heart compared to where it was 6 months ago, a year ago or two years ago? Are we changing the world? Or is the world changing us?

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-27-17

Psalm 67:1 (NKJV) 67 God be merciful to us and bless us, And cause His face to shine upon us…

If we want to change the way things are going, we may need to change our attitude and the way we see things.

We might need to change the way we look and feel toward certain people, and stop blaming them for the things that we are going through in our personal life.

Let the past be in the past. We can’t allow it to ruin our future any longer.

God is merciful toward us and He blesses us as we walk in His example and do the same for others, no matter how they treat us. And as we do this, things will begin to change.

Pray for them, bless them and move on. Start today by letting go of the things we have held onto for years. Let the wounds in our heart heal as we take this step today.

Matthew 5:44 (NKJV) 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you

This verse contains a lot of action words, and no one said any of them would be easy. But if we want change, these are the steps we need to work toward.

Dear God in Heaven,

I come to You today and ask for your help. I want to do what is right. I have been hurting for a long time, and today I want to be free and let my heart heal.

Forgive me for holding onto things that I should have let go of a long time ago. I want to be able to sincerely walk out Matthew 5:44. I can’t do this on my own. I know that I need You, your strength and your compassion to take these steps. You know me best. I ask for Your help in fixing me up so I can let go and move on. I truly want to love like You.

Thank You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-26-17

1 Samuel 2:2 (NKJV) 2 “No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.

Today’s word is “better days are coming”.

The past few years for my family it has been one thing after another. I am not complaining or ungrateful at all. God has been our provision, our escape and we have seen miraculous things happen right before our very own eyes.

But we have been through a lot of things that have been very trying and very tough.

It has been bittersweet at times. But the best thing is to know that whatever we were faced with, God was close by! He was right there with us.

Having such an Anchor standing with us when we were faced with hard news made it all much better. It kept us grounded even when our first instinct was to take off running from it all.

If you are going through a lot, we know how you feel. We are here with you.

We want you to know that you are going to come through this, and better days will come your way as you continue to press in to your Rock.

Our Lord God Almighty is our Rock. He will calm the storm for you! Amen.

Psalm 107:29 (NKJV) 29 He calms the storm, So that its waves are still.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-25-17

Luke 2:11 (NKJV) 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

God is good! We all have a lot to celebrate and be thankful for. But the most important and greatest gift of all is the gift that was freely given to us from our Heavenly Father.

God gave us His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice on the cross, those that believe and receive Him are set free. When their earthly body dies, their soul lives on in heaven, with their heavenly Father and His Son.

It doesn’t matter who we are or what position we might hold. It doesn’t matter what kind of success we have. It doesn’t matter what nationality or skin color we are. It doesn’t matter if we are rich or poor. It doesn’t matter if we are a thief, a lawyer, or a doctor, etc. It doesn’t even matter how old or young we are.

If we have put our faith and trust in that name, Jesus Christ, and we ask Him to forgive us of our sins, and we receive Him as our Savior, we become His child!

John 1:12 (NKJV) 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…

This Man, Jesus Christ, came to save us.

Merry Christmas!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-23-17

Psalm 44:21 (NKJV) 21 Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

Family can be very hard to understand and relate to at times. Sometimes it can seem like they are deliberately trying to be hurtful toward us.

And we are usually harder on them than we are on others. Why? Because we expect more out of them. They are our family.

We tend to excuse people outside of the family when they are hurtful toward us. We think it’s alright for them to be that way. We think that’s normal. But when family does something to us, we have no patience. We have no tolerance and we definitely don’t put up with it.

We have to understand that family members are human too. They go through seasons and trials in their own lives, just like we do. Family is not perfect.

They will make mistakes. So, yes, we need to give them time and space. We need to be understanding with them as well.

But there are also times when we need to say enough is enough and put our foot down. Just because they are family doesn’t mean that we can let them walk on us or misuse us whenever they feel like it.

There is a balance to this, and God will help us to know what to do at certain times. He knows the secrets in the heart of man, and if they are using and abusing us He will not allow it for long.

Listen to His direction. He will give us clarity and He will guide our steps.

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-22-17

Psalm 121:7-8 (NKJV) 7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. 8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Sometimes we think we are all alone. No one really knows what is going on inside us or how we feel. No one knows the things we come up against; those things we have had to deal with in our past, or continue to deal with now.

Sometimes it feels like no one cares.

That’s what the enemy would like for us to think. And if he can get us to believe it, he knows he can get us to give up. And if we give up, we will fail.

We want to remind you today that the great and MIGHTY King has you. He will preserve you. He will keep you safe from harm or injury. He will keep you from destruction if you will follow Him.

Don’t listen to the lies of the enemy any longer. Rebuke him in Jesus’ name. And claim the verse above over your life today. Amen!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-21-17

Luke 6:31 (NKJV) 31 And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

If we want respect, we have to give it. It’s as simple as that.

This is hard to maintain when we are around those that drive us crazy. But even in those moments when we don’t care for a particular person, their actions, or their attitude, we can still do right by showing respect, no matter how we feel.

We have to do good by everyone. We can’t just pick and choose who we want to do it for. We have to remain respectful, even to those that get on our nerves, under our skin or irritate us.

This doesn’t mean we have to be best buds with them. There is a difference. It doesn’t mean we have to spend a lot of time around them. But, it does mean that when we are around them, we need to honestly be respectful.

There are no ifs, ands or buts about it. If we want people to respect us, we need to show respect. That’s just how it works.

If we can’t do this with a sincere heart then we need to check ourselves. God needs to have a little time with us and help us get to the bottom of it. It’s always fun getting to the bottom of something, because then there’s only one way left to go, and that’s up. We can begin to move forward again.

If God is speaking to our heart today, know that it is for our own good. We need to respect others, no matter how they have treated us. They will have to answer for their actions, just as we will answer for ours. So, let’s treat others the way we want to be treated.

Dear God in Heaven,

I come to You with all sincerity in my heart, and I ask for Your help in learning how to respect others. Even those that have done me wrong, mistreated me and are just hard to deal with. Please help me Lord to understand why I need to respect them. I’m sorry if I have been functioning in a bad manner. Please forgive me. I want to make things right in my heart today with those people that I have a hard time respecting.

I ask You to help me, Lord, to get past this, and that my actions may be pleasing to You.

Thank you. In Jesus’ name I ask. Amen.
