(Mat 4:9 NKJV)  And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”

In the verse above, satan is tempting Jesus. He has already tempted Him with other things and then ultimately tries to get Jesus to worship him. Jesus sent him away.

In our own lives, the temptations that come our way aren’t always so blatant and in our face. The enemy never stands in our face and tells us what he’ll give us in exchange for our sin.

Temptation typically comes in more subtle ways, enticing us quietly and seemingly innocent.

But God has given us what we need to discern temptations and walk away from them.

He has given us a conscience and He has given is His spirit. We can never say that we didn’t know something was wrong. Deep down inside, we always know. God has made it that way.

More importantly, He has given us His grace for those times when we do fall.

So be alert and ready for when temptation comes, because it will come. Be ready to send the devil away. And know that if you do stumble and fall into temptation that God is willing to forgive us if we simply ask with a sincere heart.

(Psa 95:6-7 NKJV)  Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.

Right where we are, as we spend time reading and pondering on this verse, let God know how much He means to us. Take some time to show Him our love.

We don’t have to spend hours and hours with Him; it only takes but a minute to let Him know we love Him, just by telling Him.

Don’t let this day go by without telling Him…stop for a few minutes and let Him hear it…Oh the Joy that fills His ears!

Give Him praise today on this fine Friday, for He is Worthy!

He is our Lord and our Maker!

(1 Tim 4:12 NKJV)  Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

We recently received an email from someone who shared how God has been touching the lives of those in their ministry. They were on fire for God and have been very encouraged by things they have learned.

But they said that they were too young to minister for the Lord.

I wrote back and encouraged them to use their lives as examples, even if they were “too young” to preach formally.

You see, our lives are our testimony. We are to let the light and the love of God shine through us in everything that we do. It’s not just preaching and teaching that spreads the gospel of Jesus Christ, but it’s the example that we set each and every day to those around us.

So, regardless of your age, remember that what people see in our lives may be the only gospel they ever “hear”.

(Jonah 1:7 NKJV)  And they said to one another, “Come, let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this trouble has come upon us.” So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.

Jonah was on the run. God had given him instructions but Jonah just plain didn’t want to do what God had told him to do.

Are any of us on the run today? Has God told us something that we’re running from?

It’s not hard to run from God, but it’s hard to get away from Him!

Maybe there’s something God has asked you to do. Maybe there’s something God has asked you to stop doing. Either way, God’s right. And if we try to run and hide, it won’t work for very long.

Talk to God today. Ask Him to forgive you for running. Take a step toward Him and toward the thing that He requires of you. You’ll be better off for it.

(Mat 27:12 NKJV)  And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing.

This is an example to us that there are times when we are wrongly accused, but just as Jesus did here, we need to do the same.

We don’t need to defend ourselves at times and we don’t need to always show that we are right. There are times when our silence will be our witness. We can ruin our witness sometimes by opening our mouths and saying things we shouldn’t say. Whether we are defending ourselves or not, it’s no excuse.

Let’s walk and learn from Jesus’ example that silence in itself is sometimes our best answer.

On the other hand, some people will use silence in an abusive way. For instance if they are mad at someone and they are just being manipulative and trying to get their own way, they don’t speak to that person until they get what they want. This is WRONG. Maybe that person doesn’t fully know what we were doing by playing the “silent treatment” on them and maybe we do end up getting what we want. But God knows our motives.

Let silence work for you, not against you.

(Psa 38:21 NKJV)  Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me!

Have you ever felt like this? Has it ever seemed like God was a million miles away and wasn’t hearing a single thing that you’ve said to Him?

I’ve had people ask me about this. It’s more common than most people realize. We all go through it sometimes.

Most times when people are having trouble hearing God it’s because there is something that has come between us… something that is either blocking the way between us and Him, or something that has caused a gap between us and Him.

More often than not, this is due to the fact that we have said or done something that isn’t pleasing to Him or is contrary to His word. This causes distance between us and God.

The further we are from someone, the harder it is to hear them. If you’re having trouble hearing God, take a look at what you’ve done recently. There’s probably something in the recent past that has caused this silence.

It usually doesn’t take much to fix this. Asking for forgiveness and repenting is a huge step in the right direction. Once we’ve done that, we just need to leave it at the foot of the cross and be done with it.

Let’s start the week off right, by taking care of anything that might be creating a gap between us and God.

(Psa 5:2 NKJV)  Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray.

Don’t ever stop praying. When times get tough…PRAY. When times are good… PRAY. When we feel all alone…PRAY. When we feel we’re on top of the world…PRAY.

God loves to hear our prayers and He loves to help us and be there for us. I remember when my kids were young, if there was ever any trouble, whether at home or school, I couldn’t move fast enough to get there. Now, that’s an earthly parent. Can you just imagine how much our Heavenly Father wants to be there for us?

Don’t rush things, there is no hurry. Pray and let God move.

God bless you…and have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!!

(Luke 24:12 NKJV)  But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.

Peter had heard that Jesus had risen from the grave. He was alive after being crucified and verified as dead. Peter wanted to believe what he had heard, but it was too impossible.

As he ran to the tomb and then looked inside it, where the body of Jesus had been laid to rest, he saw nothing but the linens that Jesus had been wrapped in.

Jesus wasn’t there. He was gone!

Jesus had spoken of this to his own disciples and had alluded to it in some of his conversations and debates with religious leaders. But nobody got it. Nobody would ever believe it would be possible.

But that’s OK. God doesn’t need our approval. He says something and then sticks to what He says. He is not a respecter of man.

I thank God that he sticks to His promises and doesn’t waver because of man’s opinions. It’s His faithfulness that brought Jesus back to life after being dead. It’s His faithfulness that allows us to trust in Him and never doubt.

There is no faithfulness that can be compared to that of our God. He is our Rock and our Redeemer.

(Rev 1:18 NKJV)  “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

What an awesome description of Jesus… our Savior! He was dead and now lives and is alive forevermore!

Jesus is described in so many ways throughout the Bible, including in the Old Testament, where He is represented symbolically and spoken about in prophecies.

But there are few places, if any, that describe Him in this manner.

There are many religions in the world, with many different people and things that are worshipped and held in high esteem. But none of them can use the words used in this scripture; “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive!

Thank God today that He is The Living God and that Jesus was resurrected, defeating death, hell and the grave.

(Gen 2:7 NKJV)  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

I’d like to share something with you that God brought to my attention many years ago when I was reading His word.

As I was reading through the account of the creation, God showed me that everything we see around us, He spoke into existence. He said the words and it came to be. He said “let there be light”, and there was light. He said “let there be green grass”, and it happened.

But what He showed me was that He did things differently when it came to creating man. Instead of simply speaking man into existence, which He could have easily done, God took the time and made the effort to form man from the dust, with His own hands.

God took the time to get His hands dirty and form us He didn’t just say a few words and make us appear. He took dirt in His hands and formed us. Think about that. A holy, pure God, who knows no sin, took dirt into His hands and made us.

I would say that we mean a lot more to God than the waters, the grass and even the animals of the earth. He spoke them into being. He formed us.

So as you start your day today, ponder on the fact that you mean that much to God… enough for Him to get His hands dirty.
