Bible Verse of The Day – 8-31-15

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Choosing what is right versus what is wrong is how we resist the devil and shut the door on him, so to speak.

A good example of not shutting the door would be people living together or having sexual intercourse without being married. When we do this, we open the door to him.

We can’t blame anyone for our messed up situation when we have made poor choices, because we can choose to keep the doors closed.

Many times we wonder why we are having trouble keeping a good relationship. Many times it’s because we let the devil have his way right off the bat and he comes in to destroy it.

If we have a tendency to use vulgar language, that is another door the enemy can waltz in through. Or if we like watching movies and they have vulgarity and profanity in them. When we play them in our homes or we go and watch them in the theater, the door gets opened for satan to waltz in and say, “thank you. You just gave me permission to come in.”

How about when we get angry and start yelling and saying things that we are not supposed to be saying? Another open door. Do we have control and manipulation issues? These are other doors for him to come in through and have his way.

There are many doors he tries to come through, but God gives us the strength to say “NO” and resist him, as we submit to God. And when we choose to resist him, he has to flee, according to God’s word!

Shut the door to the devil, live a good clean life and enjoy it! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-29-15

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Jesus came to set us free.

He died and rose again to set us free from sin, sickness, death and much more.

If we have put our faith in Christ, we don’t need to live as slaves to sin.

Sin doesn’t have to have power over us. And the only way that it will have power over us is if we let it.

Every day we will be tempted with things that can cause us to sin. Lust, theft, gossip, lying, adultery, fornication and a whole list of other things that can come our way at any moment.

But we don’t have to give in to those things. We can walk away from them. We just have to want to. We have to want to do the right thing. We have to want to make the right choice. We have to want to please God instead of pleasing our fleshly desires.

And if we truly want to do the right thing, God will give us the strength to do it.

It won’t always be easy, and there will be times when we mess up. But if our heart is in the right place, and we make a genuine effort to turn our lives around and live a godly life, God will honor that effort.

And, over time, we will find ourselves making way more right choices than wrong ones.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-28-15

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Whenever something hard comes our way and we we’re not ready or prepared for it, we will see how fragile our life can really be. How quickly we can get tired out simply from the hit we took. The change that it brings can drain us, both emotionally and physically if we stay focused on it day and night.

We need to take control over our minds at times and say “NO! We are not going there, you are not in charge!”. We need to take control over our mind and our thoughts and force them to look, listen and hear what God is saying through His spirit.

A lot of times the mind speaks so loudly that we can’t hear or see what God is showing us.

God will speak to us in these hard moments. He will guide us and carry us through.

Listen and watch for Him. He is there.

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

He is on the scene. PRAISE Him in the midst of your STORM today!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-27-15

Proverbs 31:28 (NKJV) 28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her…

Mothers.

Mothers are special people. God has placed in them something special; a love that is unbreakable. A love that never gives up.

Mothers have more impact on their children than they may ever realize. And that impact is life-long, lasting long after she has breathed her last breath and gone on to be with God.

Mothers have a lifelong instinct and intuition that can never be explained or fully understood.

Mothers have God-given wisdom that can’t be explained in the natural. It will often defy natural logic.

They have a way of soothing a distraught child like nobody else can ever do. There’s nothing like a mother’s hug to make a child feel loved and safe in the midst of a stressful situation.

A mother’s reassuring words can give a child confidence and hope when they feel like their little world has been shattered or is falling apart.

Today, pray for your mother and tell her you love her. If you’re the husband of a mother, tell her how much you love her and appreciate her and the hard work that she does each day.

Today, we pray God’s blessings over mothers everywhere. We speak God’s peace, joy and strength over them, in the name of Jesus!

May God bless you abundantly all the days of your life!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-26-15

Romans 12:10-12 (NKJV) 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;

There’s a lot of good stuff in these verses that could be taught on, but today we’re going to focus on one thing; hope. Faith & hope work hand in hand.

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV) 11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Everything we do related to our walk with God is based on hope. So what is hope?

Hope: To cherish a desire with anticipation. To desire with the expectation of obtainment. To expect with confidence. Trust

Our walk of faith is built upon hope. And it is this hope that helps to keep us going each day.

We trust God, therefore we put hope in the promises that He has made in His word. There are things in His word that we have never seen, or seen proof of, but we place our trust in Him, with hope.

When God answers a prayer or we see Him perform a miracle, we no longer hope for that thing. It was fulfilled.

Once something is seen and obtained, it is no longer hoped for. It is now a reality. But we continue holding onto hope for other promises of God.

The enemy will, many times, work on our minds, to try to get us to let go of hope. He will try to crush us emotionally in order to get us to give up. But if we hold fast to our confession of faith in God, our hope will not be crushed, but affirmed and made stronger.

Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV) 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

So we urge you today to hold on to hope. Never let go, for if we lose hope, we have nothing.

God is faithful to sustain us and bring victory to our lives, if we hold fast to our hope and don’t waver, and if we allow Him to move in the way that He sees fit to move, not putting Him in a box and trying to tell Him how to do His job 🙂

Hold on to hope!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-25-15

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

This is a really tough thing for most believers to grasp; the fact that we aren’t in battle against people or things visible. But, instead, we are at war with things unseen.

Yes, we often come face to face with or are on opposing sides of other people, but what drives those who appear to be our enemy is the spiritual forces of wickedness.

And, yes, some people can be genuinely wicked in their hearts. But when push comes to shove, it is the demonic spirits and principalities that are responsible for what we see played out in the natural.

So as we spend time praying (and we better be spending time praying!), we need not waste our time praying against people, but praying for God to remove the evil influences in a place (towns, cities, states, provinces, nations and specific organizations, etc.).

We should pray for the hearts of people to be changed, because it’s what’s in a person’s heart that causes them to do what they do in the natural.

Matthew 12:34 (NKJV) 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

But if we’re not warring against the demonic spirits that drive the wickedness to begin with, we aren’t getting to the root of the problems. So this is where our time and efforts must be spent if we are going to see victory that will last and that will bring real change to an area and a situation.

Rebuke evil spirits. Bind principalities and forbid them from operating in an area and against a group of people. And loose those who are oppressed and in bondage, by speaking freedom over them. Do it all in the name of Jesus, by which we have authority over evil spirits!

This is some truly heavy-duty stuff. And a large majority of the church steers clear of this because of that, but if we don’t address it, we will remain ignorant and impotent, unable to bring change when and where it needs to come.

So it’s time for us to come before God, kneel before His throne and begin speaking freedom over those in bondage and driving the enemy back, in the name of our Savior, our Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-24-15

Psalm 139:13 (NKJV) 13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.

Do we think God does not know who we are just because we may not know everything about Him?

Do we think that He doesn’t see us or what we are involved in, whether good or bad?

Do we really think He ignores us when we cry out to Him for help, healing, deliverance or Salvation, etc.?

Do we think that when we mess up He throws His hands up in the air and says, “that’s it, I’m done with you”?

God loves every bit of us. But the one thing we must know is that He does not love our sin, and therefore He will not tolerate it.

If He let us get away with it then He would not love us, like He tells us in His Word.

Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV) 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”

We need to understand that some of the things that come our way that don’t feel so good aren’t necessarily from the enemy. They may very well be God correcting or chastening us, and we can’t run from it. Instead, we need to face it and walk it out.

Being corrected or chastened is never fun, but as we grow in our walk with HIm, we will learn that we are disciplined because we are loved.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-22-15

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Understanding. It’s the key to so many things.

The verses above tell us to be anxious for nothing and to let God’s peace that surpasses all understanding guard our hearts and minds through Christ.

There’s some very important instruction for us here, especially when it comes to trusting God, even when we might not understand everything.

God tells us to have peace that surpasses all understanding. This means that despite being in circumstances or going through trials that we may not understand, we can (and should) still have peace, even in the midst of those seemingly-confusing things.

We may face something that seems truly hard to swallow in the natural; the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, a terrible disease in our life or the life of someone we know… there can be a huge list of things that we might face and that we don’t understand.

But, as we learn to trust God, He will give us peace despite the turmoil around us. We can have peace because of our walk with God and the assurance that we have that it’s all in His hands.

We don’t rely on the things of this world to give us peace. We rely on our heavenly Father, the creator of all we see.

And that is why it is called peace that surpasses all understanding.

So look beyond your circumstances today. Look past the chaos of the world. Look past the negativity of those around you. Look past the mockers and the naysayers.

And let His peace surround you and flood your soul.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-21-15

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

The Holy Spirit is Our Helper.

The church as a whole is not doing well. Why?

Because we are afraid to let the Holy Spirit in to HELP us. We are afraid He may convict us into shutting down a few things and changing things up a bit. We are afraid He might come in to our pretty little scheduled Sunday services or our well planned lives and do something completely different than what we are used to.

Do we really understand Who our Helper is? He is there to help us, not to hurt us, embarrass us or bring confusion to us.

Jesus knew we were going to need the Holy Spirit. He walked this earth and knew what we would be up against daily. He knew about the fiery dots that are deliberately sent out,  solely to bring destruction.

Ephesians 6:16 (NKJV) 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

His provision to us, to defeat the wicked one and to live a life of victory, was through the help of the Holy Spirit.

Don’t be afraid to embrace our Helper and do what He tells us to do.

It is through the help of the Holy Spirit that God will lead us, and those things that were impossible will be possible!

Luke 1:37 (NKJV) 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-20-15

1 John 5:12(NKJV) 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

People that do not receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, are dead.

That means they get up every day and do normal everyday stuff, and think that it’s living. Every day they do the same thing, over and over again. They are blind and hardened to the fact that that’s life and there is nothing else for them.

But that is far from living. Life begins when we believe and put our faith in Jesus Christ. Life begins for us when we follow Him.

Living is not going out and having fun at the bars. Living is not working a job that pays big money. Living is not eating out and taking vacations. Living is not sleeping around and having sex with whoever and whatever. This is not life!

There is life in Christ, the Son of God; beautiful, fulfilling, breathtaking LIFE. But we must choose Him if we want it! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-19-15

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

His mercies are new every morning.

Every day we arise and set about our daily tasks and routines.

Along the way, we make choices and decisions. Some of our choices are good ones, while others aren’t so good. We step outside of God’s desires for us. We sin. We make a mess sometimes.

As believers, God is calling us to rise up and put our sinful ways behind us. He desires for us to live holy lives.

But, if we mess up (and we all do), all is not lost!

God’s mercies don’t end on a certain day or at a certain time. They are fresh and new every morning!

So each day, as we arise and start fresh, we are given a clean, white sheet of paper that we can write that day’s story on. We simply need to genuinely repent (turn from our sin) and ask Him to forgive us. And He will.

We are not condemned by our sin if we  bring it to Him, confess it and then turn from it.

So take that clean, white sheet of paper and write a new story today. At the end of the day, what will be written on your  sheet of paper?

It’s up to you!
