Bible Verse of The Day – 10-31-13

(Proverbs 22:6 NKJV)  Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Just the other day I enjoyed lunch time with my mom & dad! They have taught me so much throughout my life… I am so grateful!

One of the most important things they taught me was love. They showed me how to be a good parent and a good person by the way they loved all 10 of us kids, teaching us to never give up on your children no matter how they turn out or what direction they’ve taken.

They are always there for each one of us! Their example has taught me how to love, not just my children, but how to love others as well.

With love, came discipline. We were scolded when we needed it. We were hugged when needed it. We were encouraged and humbled at times when needed. It was the love that they had for us that prompted them to discipline us and teach us God’s way.

I truly believe that this love, this example, should be demonstrated in the home. Children should not have to go to school to be taught this. They should not have to go to church to learn it in Sunday school.

This love should not have to be learned by spending time with someone else’s family or by watching certain television shows. The foundation of love should by taught by us parents.

I love because my parents loved me; they were examples of it. With this love, they taught me right from wrong.

God is speaking to parents today; be an example. Raising our children is an important ministry in itself!

If we want this world to change, then we have to start in our own homes, with our own children first.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-30-13

(John 15:7 NKJV)  “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

How do we abide in Him?

We stay close to Him by reading His word and praying (talking with Him) each day. Abide means to stay or live somewhere.  If we stay or live somewhere, then we spend quality time there.

Our desires are met through this Abiding in each other (us and Jesus), as we ask through the precious name of Jesus Christ.

Let the desires of our heart come forth today as we abide in Him and Him in us!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-29-13

Genesis 2:3 (NKJV) Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

He rested from all His work. God, the creator of heaven and earth and the giver of life, rested.

He sanctified and blessed the seventh day. This is pretty significant and it’s something that we all need to pay attention to.

Now, I am not going to get into the debate about which day is the actual seventh day. This is something that way too many people get caught up in and it can seriously distract us from things that are more important.

The important thing here is the fact that God Himself rested and blessed that day as a day of rest.

We need to follow God’s leading. We need to pick a day each week to rest. This means no working! This means spending time with our family. This means not letting things income-related pull on us.

Our minds and bodies need rest. It’s critical. It’s necessary. It helps us stay healthy and maintain our peace of mind.

We want to encourage you today, no matter what your situation, take time to rest. Take time to relax and do something that’s not work or income-related. You need it and God wants you to do it.

Bible Verse of The Day

(Revelation 3:22 NKJV)  “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

The Spirit of God is speaking to the church. His words can be so clear; we just have to take the time to listen.

We need to put aside our agendas, our routines, what we think we have to do to get His attention, and stop long enough to listen. (1 Kings 19:12 NKJV)  and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

To hear a still small voice, we have to be quiet and listening.

Sometimes in the evening, while we’re sitting in our chairs, we might hear something outside. We both stop what we are doing and sit real still for a moment and listen intently as we try to figure out where that sound came from or what it was. If we kept doing what we were doing we would miss it.

It’s the same with God. Sometimes we just need to stop in our tracks and stay still long enough to know or learn what is going on.

We can get going so fast it’s hard to hit the brakes and slow down, never mind come to a complete stop. But there are times God will call us into a quiet time with Him and we need to be able to pull back and listen.

Each one of us makes up the church, the body of Christ. We need to take His words today and let them penetrate our hearts, giving us wisdom and understanding to help ourselves in our situation.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-26-13

(Revelation 3:20 NKJV)  “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me

I find this verse to be very encouraging and exciting today, knowing that if we open up our hearts to Jesus Christ, He, the Messiah, our Savior, Healer, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, will come in and DINE with us! That’s how close He is to us. Right there in us; you really can’t get any closer then that.

Do we fully comprehend the One we have dining with us today? How blessed are we to have such an opportunity? What a privilege and HONOR.

Let us acknowledge the One who lives in us today by giving Him praise from our hearts. How good and GREAT is our God!

He dines with us! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-25-13

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Today I was asking God about some things. One of those things was how Christians, believers, followers of Christ, can keep themselves from sin after they have been saved.

It’s easy to say that we want to stop sinning. And it’s easy to say that we won’t commit a particular sin anymore. But when push comes to shove, it can be a difficult thing to turn away from temptation, especially if it’s something that we have struggled with in the past.

When I asked Him about this, I heard very loudly and clearly, “by the renewing of your mind”. It is by the renewing of your mind that you defeat these temptations and gain victory over them!

You see, we can have a relationship with our Creator and we can study His word. But until we let Him renew our mind, we are still thinking the same old thoughts!

Renew: to make (something) new, fresh, or strong again

There is nothing in this world that can renew our minds. We can follow all kinds of self-help methodologies, but when it’s all said and done, we still have the same mind with the same thought processes.

But when we let God renew our mind, it is made new and fresh! It isn’t prone to think the same thoughts any longer. It is absolutely, genuinely new.

So if you’re struggling with how to overcome something that keeps attacking your mind, stop trying to handle it on your own and let God fix it for you. His thoughts are far above ours.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-24-13

(Mark 10:45 NKJV)  “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

This Man, the Son of the most High God, Jesus Christ, came to this earth to serve. All that He did was for each one of us personally. Serving and giving of His life for us was done out of the compassion that He had for us. The love that He walked in was “perfect love“.

When we love like He loves, we won’t look at others as we used to. Our love will be for all humanity, not just those in our church, those in our family, those with the same nationality, or same denomination, etc.

It will be easy to help someone even if they mistreat us, hurt us or slander us. Our enemies won’t even seem like an enemy to us but, instead, as an opportunity to be able to pray and watch God move in their lives.

Jesus Christ gave His life as a ransom for all. We are to follow His example and let His love shine through us today, to all man kind.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-23-13

Proverbs 16:25 (NKJV) There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we just can’t understand why God does things the way He does them!

This can be true in happy things and in not-so-happy things.

Here’s the deal. God is so far above us in His ways that our heads just can’t wrap around a large percentage of what He does! But that’s OK, because we are not God. He is.

Now, one thing we need to understand is that we can still walk out what God wants of us. We just need to move by faith and learn to operate by the spirit, not by our flesh or our natural understanding.

This takes some work and lots of practice! Once we begin to get spiritual understanding, we won’t waste our time trying to make sense of what God does or what He asks us to do. We will just accept it, do it and move forward.

Does this sound like blind faith? Well, I guess some people might call it that. But if you have spiritual eyes and ears, and sharp discernment, there’s nothing blind about it at all.

Revelation 2:29 (NKJV) “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-22-13

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

So many times we hear this scripture quoted when someone is teaching about the fact that we have to have faith in order to please God. Today, though, let’s take a look at the last few words of this verse: “those who diligently seek Him”.

We can have faith. We can know that He is God. We can understand that He created everything we see.

But who does He reward? Those who diligently seek Him!

You see, we can have all of those other attributes. We can have a good knowledge of so many Biblical things. But if we don’t diligently seek God, yearning to know Him more intimately on a daily basis, we cannot please Him and we will not be rewarded.

God wants our all. He wants our heart… 100% of it. So if we truly want to be who He wants us to be, we need to do everything we can to build our relationship with Him.

This doesn’t mean we need to be more religious, spend more time in church, quote more scriptures or invite more people to Bible study. This means that we need to “press into Him” and seek Him with our whole heart.

Then we will know Him better and then we will be pleasing Him and then we will be rewarded!

Push all distractions aside and seek Him. It’s worth every bit of effort that it takes.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-21-13

(Mark 10:21 NKJV)  Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”

One thing that stood out to me in this verse was the very fact that Jesus LOVED him. Then He gave him the answer to his problem. He told the man the one thing he lacked, and what would help him.

I know it’s hard sometimes to hear the answer that Christ has for us. That’s why we don’t always want to run to Him, or be around those that we know are going to give us the right answer, the God answer!

Instead, we will go out of our way to find someone that will agree with us and make us feel better about what we are doing, saying, or acting like, etc. You know… the answer that will allow us to keep doing what WE want to be doing.

Jesus tells this man what he needs to do; He told Him what He needed to hear. Why? Because He loved him! He left it at that, for him to make the right choice.

Today, if Jesus is speaking to you, get the answer He has for you and run with it. It may not be what we want to hear, but know that the One that gives it loves us.

He’s not out to hurt us, take away our fun, our dreams or our goals. He just simply knows what’s best.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-13

Psalm 16:8 (NKJV) I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

Have we set God before us? Is he at our right hand?

Do you know that if we put God first, we cannot be moved?

If we have God as our first priority, there is nothing that can shake us and nothing that can move us from where we are supposed to be.

God rules and reigns over all things and if we abide in Him, there is no trial, no temptation and no storm that can move us or pull us down.

Put God first in your life, today, right now! He will give you shelter from the storms and solutions to your problems.

He is God and He is good.
