Bible Verse of The Day – 10-31-17

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.

In the middle of a trying season in our lives, we sat down to pray. We really had no direction at this particular time. We cried out to the ONE that we knew was our only hope. And we trusted He would show us the answer.

Sometimes not knowing what to do may seem better to us, rather than getting God’s answer. This is especially true if the answer is something we have never done before or bigger than what we think we can do. Maybe this is why sometimes we don’t ask God? Because we’re afraid of His answer.

When God gave us His answer, we looked at our situation and realized it was something that was impossible to do at that time. Despite the situation we were in, we did say yes to Him.

And we agreed, that however He chose to do it, we were OK with it. We would wait on the timing and the steps.

As we waited, we continued to do what we knew we could do and God made the rest happen.

In the areas where we could not see how to do it or how it could possibly happen, He did it.

We look back now and think, “boy, are we glad we didn’t let our “not knowing” cause us to be stuck where we were”.

In the situation you’re facing today, ask God for direction. Ask Him for the answer. He will hear your prayer and direct your steps.

Psalm 4:1 (NKJV) 1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-30-17

Jeremiah 17:9-10 (NKJV) 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

Have you ever wondered why some people do the things they do?

Have you ever wondered why you do the things you do?

As followers of Christ, we should always want to do what pleases God. Our desires should be to live righteously and follow in the footsteps of Jesus himself.

Sometimes we get it right. Other times we fail miserably. We wonder why. And we ask how this can happen when we want so badly to do the right thing.

It’s a heart thing.

You see, without being renewed by God’s spirit, our hearts are deceitful and wicked. Oh, they may make us think they want to do right. But when push comes to shove, if our heart isn’t sanctified and led by the Holy Spirit, it will make the wrong choice almost every time.

We need God to cleanse our heart. There is no way around it. This is why David cried out to God after he had sinned with another man’s wife.

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

David recognized the wickedness in his heart and repented before God.

So, let’s do as David did and ask God today, right now, to cleanse our hearts and remove the wickedness from them.

Let’s ask Him to lead us by His spirit.

He is faithful to do what we ask Him to do. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – Let God Be God (Part 2) – 10-29-17

Greetings in the name of our savior, Jesus Christ.

Last week we began a teaching series that shows us why we need to let God be God in our lives. And why His ways are so much better than ours.

This week, we have published the second part of this series.

Please click here to watch the video now.

In today’s video, we dig a little deeper and discuss why things don’t always happen in the time frame we want it to, and what to do while we’re waiting on God.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We also discuss the fact that while we’re waiting on God, we can sometimes begin to feel desperate, and how to handle that feeling.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We hope this video will bring you a new level of understanding and a new appreciation for the things that God does for us.

Be blessed in Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-28-17

Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Finding ourselves in love with God, and Who He is, is one of the most wonderful things that could happen to us here on this earth.

Some try to find happiness in material things. Some try to find happiness in a certain lifestyle. Some try to find happiness through being married and having a family. Some may even go after a certain crowd of friends. Some think they will be happy with a certain title.

It’s sad but true, that some have spent their life chasing after happiness and never really found it.

If we would take all that trying and put it toward going after our first love, we will find sound, grounded, pure happiness. And through it all, God will bless us with the desires of our hearts.

1 John 4:19 (NKJV) 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-27-17

Ephesians 5:31 (NKJV) 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

This verse expresses the importance of a man leaving his father and mother and joining together with his wife. And the TWO shall become one.

It doesn’t say anything about having the father and mother be a part of the marriage. It doesn’t say anything about the father and mother having a say regarding the marriage if the two who are getting married are adults. It doesn’t say it’s OK for parents to say how the couple should do things, etc. They should not be able to come between the husband and the wife at all.

Some men have never truly left their father and mother. They may have moved out of their home, but they are still attached. And what their parents say has more meaning to them than what their own wife says.

As a matter of fact, their wives really don’t have a say at all when it comes to certain discussions. And that is very sad.

This is not the way it should be, and that marriage will suffer and struggle because of it.

If your marriage is falling apart, and this is one of the reasons, it’s time to cut the apron strings, so to speak, and listen to your spouse, and hope that it is not too late to repair the damage that has been done.

God wants husbands and wives to be together as one. There is no room for anyone to come between them. Not parents, not children, not friends, not anyone.

It is OK for Father and Mother to be able to give good advice when asked. But, it is not good for parents to force it on the marriage or try and come between them in any way.

Husband, join together with your wife in everything. Become one with her. Love her. Give her the affection she needs. And wives, you do the same too, for your husband.

1 Corinthians 7:3 (NKJV) 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

May God bless your marriage today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-26-17

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.

The steps we take each day are important. Are they God-ordered steps? Are we feeling like we are in forward motion? Are we happy with the steps we take?

Each day we take steps, and those steps use up precious time.

The older we get, the more we notice how quickly time goes by. How and what we spend our time on each day is important. We can waste time on a lot of things that are meaningless.

That’s right; time goes by whether we are doing meaningless things or meaningful things. We can never get that time back.

Some of the things that are very time-sucking in this day and age are the internet, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.

There are many other things that can draw us in, like gossip, drama, books, watching movies and looking at magazines that are not good for our spiritual well-being. We will suffer from the impartation they leave in our minds.

Being aware of where we are spending our time and energy is going to help us to know where we need to make adjustments and changes. It’s important to keep ourselves accountable with the things we are doing and saying each day.

Will we take our precious time that we have been given and use it wisely, spending it on the God-ordered steps, so that He may delight in us?

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-25-17

Matthew 5:44-45 (NKJV) 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

I know what you’re thinking; how in this world do we love our enemies?

This is a big thing and most times we just skim over it, because deep down we all know it’s impossible for man to love his enemy.

So let’s take a look at what an enemy is. An enemy is someone that is antagonistic to another; one seeking to injure, overthrow, or confound an opponent.

You mean to tell me I have to love those who want to antagonize me, injure me or overthrow me, and that’s only one part of this verse?

How do we do this with the right heart and not just go through the motions? How do we keep our heart from not wanting to do the same things back to them that they’ve done to us?

We are human, with feelings, and those feelings sometimes scream really loud to do the opposite of what these verses are saying. How do we win over what our own feelings, mind, heart and our attitude are saying? It’s so hard, and seems impossible.

Matthew 19:26 (NKJV)26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

The first thing we need to do is get out of our heads. We can’t do this with intellect. We have to get into the Word of God. God’s word has a way of softening the hardest of hearts.

When hurtful things come our way, it can cause our heart to get hard quickly and our minds start to race. There is no room for God when our heart has been hardened and we are operating solely on intellect.

The second thing to do is to try to avoid spending a lot of time with negative people.

We should surround ourselves with people who can find the good things even in hard times. That doesn’t mean finding people who don’t face reality. But people that see things for what they are and choose to give it to God. They spend more time praying, listening and worshiping Him than they do trying to be in control of the situation.

Third, we shouldn’t speak whatever we feel like speaking or saying in that moment of anger, persecution or when we’re being accused. Learn to hold the tongue and wait on God to bring understanding so that when we do speak, if needed, it is well worth saying and good seeds are planted.

Without God it is impossible to live out these verses. But, with Him, we can learn to walk in them and live them out daily. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-24-17

2 Samuel 9:7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”

David wanted to show kindness to Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan and grandson of Saul. Mephibosheth was lame in both his feet.

David wanted to make sure he was taken care of for the rest of his life. What a wonderful and kind thing to do for someone.

Giving, which is a pure act of kindness, touches the heart of people, and God is glorified through it.

This man, Mephibosheth, didn’t think much of himself because of his condition. Being lame in both his feet, he thought of himself as equal to a dead dog.

2 Samuel 9:8 Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”

In other words, “why should you help someone in my condition?”.

Because God has the final say, and He doesn’t look at us as dead dogs just because we may have some issues.

God used David to help this man. It didn’t fall from the sky. Someone had to obey, step out and do a kind deed and give. And it changed this man’s situation for life.

When God prompts us to give, whether it’s to a person, ministry or community, let us do our part. There is nothing that can compete with the feeling we get when we obey, give and help make a difference. Such a beautiful way to live!

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NKJV) 6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Don’t take it lightly when we feel the prompting of God. That kind deed may change the destiny of someone or something in a great way, and we will reap from our giving as well. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-23-17

Matthew 8:26 (NKJV) 26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

What if I told you that we have Someone on our side who will make the devil run? Would you want to hear about it?

Would you want to know how to get onboard? Would you make sacrifices to make sure that you were covered, and no matter what the devil tried to do to hurt you, he would lose and go running away?

Well, if you would really like to know this information, you’ve got it!

You will have to make sacrifices at times, and you will have to listen and pay close attention to steps and instructions.

Is this the same attitude we take when we want a new home, a new car, a new job or a vacation to some place we have been longing to see?

Do we take this same attitude when we see someone we fall in love with and want to marry some day? I’d say, most times we will go out of our way and do anything we can to make it happen.

We need to have the same attitude when it comes to wanting to make the devil run. Run from our situation, run from our friends, run from our family, run from our job, and run from our church!

That’s right, even the devil likes to come to church if we let him. He will come in to our homes, our schools, and our marriages. If we let him, he will come in where ever he can squeeze himself in.

How can we make someone that is so intimidating, mean, hurtful and destructive run?

We line ourselves up with what God says to do and we do it!

The step Jesus took in rebuking the winds is the very step we need to take in making the devil run.

Don’t fear him. Rebuke him, in Jesus’ name, in every situation that he tries to rise up in.

The next part is equally important and we must believe it and hold it dear to our hearts.

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NKJV) 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

No matter what we are facing today, God will give us victory over it as we follow His steps. That victory may not always look exactly as we pictured it, but it will come.

Rebuke the devil and the calm will come. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-21-17

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Let us get on the right track today by taking the things we messed up on yesterday and working on getting them right today.

Sometimes we say the wrong things. Other times we may have a bad attitude and it shows in our actions. Maybe we just love drama and love to repeat negative things, etc.

Whatever we may have done in the past, today is a new day. We can learn from those things we did or said wrong yesterday, and turn them around. How? By not repeating those same mistakes.

That’s all that God asks for, is that we realize our error, repent of it and work at fixing the things that cause us to keep doing it.

There is a disappointing feeling that comes when we continue doing wrong over and over again, no matter how hard we try to get it right. But, be encouraged today and know that we can overcome it with God’s help.

God understands our frailty as humans. He knew we needed to have help to resist temptation, break bad habits and undo learned behavior. He has provided a way for us.

Our help comes through receiving the Holy Spirit and letting Him guide us. He gives us discernment and discipline to shut those things down when they begin to rise against us.

We cannot avoid temptation on our own. We need an EXPERT to help us, and to remind us of the right things to do and say in that moment. He will give us what it takes to do it right. Ask God to send our Helper, the Holy Spirit. And He will come.
