Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-14

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

We live in a world that walks by sight. Everything that people do, they tend to do based on what they see.

As followers of Christ, we do things the opposite of this, by what we can only see with faith.

It’s pretty easy to get off track and do things and make choices based only on what we can see with our eyes, if we’re not careful.

Being able to walk by faith requires that we be “plugged in” to God and walking closely with Him, so we can make sound choices and decisions, regardless of how things look on the surface.

This can be a bit tricky when we’re first learning, especially if we are acting under pressure because of a tense situation or some kind of deadline.

But as we press in to God, we learn to hear His voice more clearly and walking by faith becomes more easy to do.

Psalm 73:28 (NKJV) 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Your works.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-30-14

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

We may think that when we give, no one knows about it but us, whether it’s a helping hand to someone, or something personal that means a lot to us.

It could even be our tithes and offerings. Maybe we were thinking that we could have used that money for our own personal use, but instead we obeyed God, made a sacrifice and gave it anyway.

Or it could be something as simple as hugging someone that irritates us, but we went out of our way and did it because we knew they needed it.

God noticed it. He saw what you did! He sees all that we do, and Jesus says in this verse that it will come back to you. He is faithful to give back to us with the same measure we use when we give.

It may not come back the way that we thought or from the person or the organization that we gave it to, but it will come back to us in the way and form that God wants to bring it back.

So keep on giving. We can’t get discouraged and start doubting what we did. Press in, keep giving and thank God because it’s coming back!! Amen.

Have a wonderful day.

Love in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-29-14

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness.

This is a very short statement with huge implications. We live in a world that is comprised of both, light and darkness. The two are constantly in conflict with each other.

As followers of Christ, we need to understand that darkness cannot overcome light. And in that regard, we should not fear darkness.

But most importantly, we need to understand that believers should also not walk in darkness, or have fellowship with it.

As a child of God, we are not to associate ourselves with the things of darkness. We are to turn from the ways of evil and not be a part of them. This doesn’t mean that we should shun people who are not believers simply because they might do something that we don’t agree with.

It means that we need to discern darkness and see it for what it is, and steer clear of it in our lives.

Yes, this may mean that we will sometimes not keep company with some people. But most importantly it, means that we need to refrain from participating in things that God shows us to be contrary to His word or His desires for us.

Sometimes they may be “little” things, while other times they may be major. But as we draw closer to God and we learn His ways, we will begin to better understand the differences between light and darkness and discerning the two will become easier and easier.

So if you’re not sure or you’re in doubt about anything in your life, whether it might be pleasing to God or not, ask Him and listen for His answer.

He is faithful to hear us and to answer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-27-14

Genesis 50:20 (NKJV) 20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

We all go through bad things.

Sometimes they’re minor and sometimes they’re major and life-changing.

Life can throw us some pretty hefty changes. Some of these changes can be due to choices or decisions we’ve made. Others can be things that happen that are completely out of our control.

Either way, they can sometimes turn our world upside down!

When life does throw these kinds of things at us and we feel like the rug has been pulled from under our feet, it can be very easy to throw ourselves a pity party, or maybe even throw a little temper tantrum, and feel really, really bad for ourselves.

Or, we can trust God, do our best to keep our head up, and keep moving forward, thanking God for each new day. Because in the end, regardless of whether this change was the result of our own bad choices or evil done to us by someone else, if we trust God and let Him work it all out, some really good things can come out of it all.

Joseph was sold into slavery by his very own brothers. They intended it for evil.

But God had other plans and turned it into something that would save the lives of hundreds of thousands, or maybe even millions of people.

So whatever we’re going through today, right now, let’s trust God to turn it into something good.

We just need to be patient, wait on His timing and follow His leading.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-26-14

Numbers 22:28(NKJV)28 Then the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?”

If God wants to speak to any of us, He will find a way.

We can spend a lot of our time trying to figure things out and we can get so preoccupied with it, that we can miss the help that He sends our way because it’s not what or how we expected it to be.

Part of helping us is bringing the right people around us, at the right time. He also uses circumstances to help us learn certain things. And maybe, at times, we don’t like the person He may be using or we don’t like the circumstances He has us in, and we try hard to get out of it or lose the person that should be helping us.

There are many different ways He will show us things. As we see in this verse, He used a donkey. He opened its mouth and the donkey spoke what was needed to be said. Who would have thought that a donkey would speak?

Be open and willing to let God speak to us in any way that He chooses. We can’t be picky or we may miss out on the help that we need, or miss the solution to our problem.

He is a faithful God and nothing is impossible for Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-25-14

John 3:17 (NKJV) 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Jesus, the Messiah.

He came to earth and walked among us. Immanuel, God with us, came not to condemn us, but to save us from our sin.

It is through His life, death and resurrection that God offers us freedom from sin and death.

It is through His life, death and resurrection that God builds a bridge to close the gap between sinful man and a holy God.

So as we celebrate His birth today, do so knowing that Jesus, the Christ, was the ultimate expression of love and forgiveness. No greater love was known before, nor has greater love existed since.

And on this Christmas day, we pray God’s peace and His mightiest blessings over you and your loved ones.

And may God’s joy fill your home.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-24-14

Colossians 3:23 (NKJV) 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.

I learned a lesson today.

I saw myself and I didn’t like what I saw.

I saw that I was doing something that needed to be done, but I was doing it less than as if I was doing it for Him, my God and Lord.

So many times we think of this verse and we apply it to work-related things. You know, making sure that we’re doing our jobs to the absolute best of our ability, so that we reflect God in a positive light that brings Him glory.

But today I was in the store, picking up some things that we needed. I had agreed to go along and help, even though it wasn’t what I would have preferred to be doing.

Now that may sound good, but the problem is that I ended up with an attitude.

Everywhere we went it was crazy busy. People rushing everywhere, buying last-minute stuff before Christmas.

It wasn’t the people or the busyness that got to me and caused me to become irritated. It was the thought of all of these people spending money because they felt pressured to do so, by commercialism and slick marketing by retailers.

Somehow I let this eat away at me until I became sullen and very quiet… maybe even somber. And, sadly, I let it show on my face and in my attitude.

I didn’t live up to God’s standards. I didn’t do what I was doing as though I was doing it for Him, even though it was just shopping.

Lesson learned, though, on my part. So I’m passing this along with the hopes that you can learn from my mistakes and not fall into the same trap I fell into.

Whatever you do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-23-14

Revelation 2:3 (NKJV) 3 and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary.

We want to encourage you today to keep going.

Keep moving forward by doing the right thing, no matter how much pressure or intimidation there is. Stay strong and persevere.

You are a blessing to all those around you, even if they don’t realize it and at times make wise remarks against you.

Let the joy of the Lord be upon you and God’s light shine through you.

Let the Holy Spirit guide your words and your actions, in spite of how you may be treated or how people may look at you.

Mark 16:15 (NKJV) 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Do not grow weary. Keep pressing in with love and compassion. Keep praying for the weak, for the suffering, and keep reaching out, speaking God’s truth. God is faithful to turn things around in His timing.

You’re doing a great job!!

Bible Verse of The Day Mobile App

Hello everyone!

We want to thank you for taking the time to read this. We truly appreciate it 🙂

For those of you who have been reading our daily messages for a while, you know that we don’t very often post “extra” messages, so we will keep this short and to the point!

During the past few years, God has blessed us with a readership of over 12,000 people who receive our teachings by email and Facebook each day. We also have many of you who read our messages on our blog.

Additionally, many more people read our messages in a mobile app. This may come as a surprise to those of you who have been reading our daily messages in a mobile app, but that app is not ours.

Apparently the developer of that particular app decided to use our daily messages to provide content for their app. We only found about it completely by accident one day when someone called us to thank us for “sending Bible verses each day to their phone”.

We also recently learned that that particular app is no longer available for download. So there is no longer a way for new readers to get our Bible Verse of The Day messages on their smartphones. But we’ll talk about that more in a minute.

We have so many of you across the globe who receive our daily messages and it is extremely humbling for both of us to receive emails and phone calls from people with prayer requests or testimonies of God’s goodness.

Pastor Ellie and I have been praying and seeking God as to how He would want us to expand this outreach and we both feel that it’s time for us to have a high-quality mobile app of our own developed, to help us reach even more people across the globe.

Having this done involves a considerable expense, and in order to raise the funds needed to have this new app created, we have started a Go Fund Me campaign.

We’d like to ask you to share this with everyone you know, by posting it on Facebook, Twitter, your personal blog or by passing this blog post along to others that you know, and consider helping us take this next step on our journey.

We’re excited to see this project get started and we have some great ideas for our new app that we know everyone will love.

The Go Fund Me campaign can be viewed by Clicking Here.

We appreciate any and all help and support we get. Thank you in advance.

Sincerely in Christ,

Pastor Curt & Pastor Ellie

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-22-14

John 6:63 (NKJV) 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Where there is death, God’s Spirit brings new life.

Where there is ignorance, God’s Spirit brings understanding.

Where there is hatred, God’s Spirit brings love.

Where there is darkness, God’s Spirit brings light.

Where there is strife and discord, the Spirit of God brings peace and contentment.

We can do absolutely nothing long-lasting by the flesh. We can try. And we can have great intentions. And sometimes we can even see temporary results from fleshly endeavors. But nothing of the flesh lasts forever.

Only God’s Spirit can bring true change where it is needed.

There are a lot of people and movements in the world today, trying to bring about positive changes. Some of them have genuinely good motives.

But because the change that comes is born of man, and not of God’s Spirit, hearts will not be genuinely changed. And because hearts aren’t genuinely changed, the good that is accomplished won’t last.

People of God, we need to be pressing in to God and seeking Him in everything that we do, so that what we do will please Him and have a lasting impact.

God’s Spirit brings life. Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-20-14

Leviticus 19:31 (NKJV) 31 ‘Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

Have you read your horoscope recently?

How about a fortune teller or a palm reader? Have you visited one lately?

Maybe you’ve called the Psychic hotline to have someone give you insight into your future.

If you have done any of these, or anything similar, stop what you’re doing right now, and repent.

Every single one of the things listed above are contrary to the word of God. God abhors them and tells us that they defile us.

Did we get that? They Defile us!

We implore you today, right now, to leave those types of things alone. Walk away from them and never go back.

Additionally, if we have partaken in any of them, we need to renounce anything that they may have spoken over us, in the name of Jesus. And then we need to repent and ask God to forgive us for our lack of discernment.

And then, never, ever partake of any of these things again.

Amen
