Bible Verse of The Day – 9-30-17

Numbers 22:27 (NKJV) 27 And when the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord, she lay down under Balaam; so Balaam’s anger was aroused, and he struck the donkey with his staff.

Sometimes God will use some pretty unconventional ways of getting our attention and speaking to us.

And at times He will use people, that we may not necessarily like or prefer, to get a message across to us or to teach us something.

It’s not uncommon for us to discount certain people or ignore God’s messages to us when they come via these less-than-preferred messengers. But that’s a costly mistake that can hurt us badly if we don’t make corrections and listen to what they have to say.

Balaam was on His way to a place that God had told Him not to go unless He specifically ordered him to do so. God’s anger was aroused toward Balaam and He placed a large angel in his path to block him from proceeding.

When the donkey he was riding saw the angel and refused to go further, Balaam stuck the donkey three different times, until God actually opened the mouth of the donkey to rebuke him.

We can be pretty sure that a donkey was the last thing that Balaam expected to hear talking to him and rebuking him.

But if God chooses to speak through a donkey, He will do so. And it’s not up to us to decide whether we will listen or not, just because we don’t like the messenger.

Yes, it’s important that we very carefully weigh the words that are spoken to us. But if someone comes to us with true words of God, it will benefit us greatly if we put aside our preferences as to the delivery method and pay attention to what is being said to us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-29-17

Ephesians 5:1 (NKJV) 1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

Have we ever watched our children as they grew up, or even now as they are growing up, and sometimes catch them acting the same way we do in certain situations?

They may even have our same mannerisms. That’s right, they act like our little minis.

Why? Because they are imitating what they see us do. Sometimes it’s a good thing. We get all excited and feeling good on the inside. And we think “Aw, look at little Johnny. He’s just like me”.

Then other times, it’s not so good when they are acting the way we do. They may even get in trouble for doing what they are doing, even though we were the ones that taught them to do it that way.

Being God’s children, we should all strive to act like Him. We don’t have to worry when we imitate Him. Everything He does is good, just and RIGHTEOUS!

We can go all out and act like our Heavenly Daddy and it will just trickle down into our children’s lives as well.

Following our earthly fathers may get us into some trouble. Be safe, be sure and imitate the One who is perfect in all He does; Our Heavenly Father!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-17

Matthew 6:3-4 (NKJV) 3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

Doing something nice for someone, something out of the ordinary, always makes us automatically want to share it with others. It makes a good topic for conversation and it just gives us a good feeling. But there is something that we will need to be watchful for when we share.

For instance, are we sharing so we feel better about ourselves? Or to gloat about what we did? Are we sharing to try to get people to like us, look up to us or even accept us?

Any of these reasons can get us off track and away from the purpose behind doing what we are doing.

God may occasionally use our story, our testimony and charitable deeds to help others in their situation. Sometimes it is a wonderful and humbling time, even for us to reflect on as we share them and are reminded of His goodness.

The importance of waiting for Him to show us if and when He wants us to share them will help us share when it is most effective, and it touches people deeply.

Keeping our experiences and our good deeds secretly between us, the person we may have helped, and God is hard to do and takes discipline. But it is very rewarding.

Remember the next time we go about doing something good… don’t be so quick to tell everyone. Hold onto it. Don’t seek the praise and rewards from man.

Instead, thank God for the opportunity and share our excitement with Him, and He will reward us openly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-27-17

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Wait. It’s a word that none of us likes to hear!

We have become a world of people who never want to wait for anything. We want something, and we want it now.

Microwave ovens, drive-through windows at banks, restaurants and pharmacies means faster service. We have become accustomed to getting what we want, when we want it.

But not with God. God wants us to learn to wait on Him. Not just for the sake of waiting, but so that He can prepare us for what He’s doing or going to do.

We tend to make a lot of demands, even with God. We pray and ask Him for something. Or we might not even bother asking. Instead, we just tell Him or demand something of Him.

And He replies with silence. Or so it might seem to us. Is He really silent, or is He telling us to wait?

It’s important for us to know and remember that if we aren’t hearing from God, we shouldn’t make any moves, except for whatever the last thing was that He told us to do. Otherwise, we simply need to wait on Him to show us what’s next.

It’s funny that the verse above says that those who wait on the Lord won’t grow weary and they won’t faint.

Why? Because they won’t be wasting their time, efforts and energy pursuing things that God hasn’t told them to pursue. And they won’t be pursuing those things He has told them to pursue using methods and means that He hasn’t given to them to use.

So, it pays to wait on God, no matter how hard it might seem to our impatient, spoiled flesh.

Sometimes our flesh just needs to be told to sit still… and wait.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-26-17

Romans 1:20 (NKJV) 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…

Sometimes the enemy will try to get us to doubt God. And if we entertain those thoughts, he may eventually get us to begin to doubt that God even exists.

And there are those who doubt that God exists at all. They have never believed and they never intend to believe.

But as we look around, creation gives us enough evidence that He not only exists, but that He is incredible!

The things we see with our eyes are more than sufficient to show us God’s existence. The sky, the stars, the moon, the planets, human life, animal life and so much more. It’s all a huge testimony to God’s power and might.

God’s word says we are without excuse if we doubt Him. Although we can’t see Him, we can see what He has made. And if we can see what was made, we have to know that there is a Maker.

Some people might make requests or demands of God, to prove Himself to them. Some might ask Him to prove Himself through a miracle. But most of those very same people would discount a miracle and try to explain it away, and then ask God to do something else to prove Himself.

It’s an endless cycle. And God says we are without excuse.

Look around. Stop doubting. Stop asking for proof. He is who He says He is!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-25-17

Deuteronomy 8:2 (NKJV) 2 And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

Have you ever felt like you keep facing the same obstacles over and over again? It happens to all of us at one time or another.

And as we face those same things over and over again, we stand and ask why. Why do we have to go through this yet again?

Usually it’s because we didn’t get it right the first time. So we have to do it again. And if we don’t get it right the second time, we will face it again. And so on.

God did this with the Israelites when they left Egypt. The journey they had to make should have taken them no more than two weeks or so. But they wandered in the wilderness for forty years!

They kept going around that same mountain again, and again. And every time they did, they failed the test.

God wanted to teach them and show them why. But they failed miserably. And so they paid the price for their disobedience, by dying in the desert and never getting to enter into the land of promise that God had told them about.

It’s important that we don’t fall into the same trap. We need to get God’s wisdom and discernment and make sure we take the right steps as He leads us.

Do we keep struggling with financial problems? Maybe we’re mishandling our money.

How about relationships? Are we constantly in crisis mode with our relationships? We’re probably choosing the wrong people to hang with, entering into a relationship with the wrong person, or failing to correct the things that are wrong in the relationship.

This can apply to just about every area of our lives. Wherever we repeatedly make poor choices, we will face the same struggles over and over again.

This is why it’s so important that we draw near to God and build our relationship with Him, so we can hear Him clearly and heed His promptings and warnings.

And when we follow Him closely, we will find that we will stop facing the same hurdles over and over again. And His peace will wash over us like cool water on a hot day.

Bible Verse of The Day – What is Presumption? (Part 1) – 9-24-17

Greetings in the name of Jesus!

God is surely on the move and preparing the hearts of His people for what He has in store for us.

During these last several weeks we have felt a strong push to bring the daily teachings and the videos up a notch, to cover new ground and dig a bit deeper than before. And you have all responded to it!

So, on that note, we have another new video for you today that covers a previous topic even deeper than before.

What is Presumption?

We taught a bit on presumption in the last few weeks. But today’s video breaks it down and defines it more precisely, so we will all have the understanding and discernment to recognize it and discern it properly.

Click here to watch the video now.

Presumption parades itself as faith, but it is far from it. It is a counterfeit that has a deep root in pride.

Click here to watch the video now.

So, we hope you will take a few minutes to watch the video and let God speak to your heart, and that you will gain a new understanding when it comes to presumption.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-23-17

1 Samuel 17:33 (NKJV) 33 And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.”

The right people around us at the right time will make a huge difference in doing the right things, so we can get the job done.

When God brings us help, we need to take it. We don’t need to try and figure it all out. We need to take the help He gives us and work with it.

Sometimes we miss what God is doing because we don’t like the ones He brings around us to help us out. But, those very ones have exactly what we need.

David was the man for the job. God had chosen him. But Saul took one look at him and said “what? You are too young!”.

We should never turn our noses up or ignore the help God brings us. And we shouldn’t resist the way He wants to do things or the people He wants to use.

For instance, Saul thought David was too small and didn’t have the experience to battle Goliath and win. But David had what it would take.

God knew that they needed David to get the job done because David’s heart was in the right place. David rebuffed Saul and told him that he trusted in God to deliver him in this battle.

1 Samuel 17:37 (NKJV) 37 Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”

Most times it is a heart thing. And God knows the heart of man.

Let Him bring in the help. Stop trying to think that just because we may have faced similar things in the past that we’ve got this on our own.

The right people at the right time will have a huge impact on getting the job done. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-22-17

1 Peter 4:10 (NKJV) 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

What a fulfilling feeling when we can take the gifts God has blessed us with and use them to help and love on others.

Don’t be shy and hide it. Don’t tuck it away. Walk in it and let it shine! Let the God-given gift work in you and come out.

Some people don’t really know what their gift is.

If that’s you, let’s take a moment and look at the things we do; the areas we are strong in and happy when we are doing them. For instance, with me, I love to help people and see them through their problems. I love to see people happy and smiling. I am always concerned about others. They grip my heart when they share their stories.

What is my gift? It would be helping others; the gift of helps.

For Pastor Curt, he loves to share his knowledge with others. It might be related to computers or some other kind of technology. It might be related to bass fishing when he’s taking others out on the water to catch fish. Or, more obviously, it might be related to God’s word and His plans for people. So, what is his gift? It would be the gift of teaching.

What are you passionate about? What is the one thing you do, that when you are doing it, makes you feel strong, happy, and confident?

That is your gifted area. It’s not hard to figure out or see the areas we are gifted in once we know what to look for or how to spot them. We just have to take the time to look.

Don’t hide it. Walk in it. Let God show you where you can let it shine.

God wants us to minister to one another with our gifts. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-21-17

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The thief comes for one reason; to destroy us.

Jesus, on the other hand, came to give us abundant life.

There is a stark contrast between the two. But sometimes we can get things a bit mixed up. Sometimes we can get things a bit backwards, especially when it comes to things that happen to us.

Sometimes we can point our finger at God and blame Him for things that He had nothing to do with. Sometimes we even give God “credit” for the bad things that happen to us, and think that maybe He did them to teach us a lesson or bring about a change in us.

But we need to always remember that God is a God of love, light, righteousness and holiness. He is perfect in every way. And everything that comes from Him is good.

James 1:17 (NKJV) 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Now, sometimes God will use the things that happen to us and the things that we go through, to teach us, shape us, strengthen us and mold us into who He wants us to be. But that doesn’t mean that He brought those things on us.

We need to remember that there is only one individual who seeks to destroy and devour us; the enemy.

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV) 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

We also need to be reminded that some of the things that happen to us are by our own hands. Decisions and choices that we make can be far-reaching and have lasting consequences. So, we need to be careful not to blame God or believe that He did these things to us.

God doesn’t give people cancer. He doesn’t cause us to have heart attacks, diabetes, etc. But He can show us and teach us some valuable things if they do happen to us.

Remember; God is perfect and every good and perfect thing comes from Him.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-20-17

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

When God asks us to do something, are we willing to do it? That’s a good question that we will all need to answer at one time or another.

Do we have stipulations that we present to God? Do we say “God, I will do that if you do it this way.”?

Knowing who God is will help us greatly when it comes to doing what He asks us to do. We need to understand that God wants the very best for us. Once we know this, wouldn’t we be more willing to let Him own us completely?

How do we let God own us? We train our brain to listen to our heart.

But, why would we want our brain to listen to our heart, if our heart can’t think like our brain can?

Well, if we have given our heart to Christ, He will move on us and speak to us through our heart. If we want to do what He is asking us to do, we have to be listening to the heart. The heart will speak loud and clear. But our mind must submit and follow, and not try to lead.

The brain tends to lead us by logic and intellect. It will make us think that we shouldn’t do anything that we can’t figure out or understand logically.

In comparison, if our heart is being led by the Spirit of God, it will help us to discern what is right and what is not, even if we might not necessarily understand it all.

If Christ is treasured in our hearts, He will bring us a renewed and transformed mind, and the two will bring victory over any situation! Amen.

Matthew 6:21 (NKJV) 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
