Bible Verse of The Day – 6-30-12

(Rev 21:6 NKJV)  And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.

Who’s thirsty today? Who wants life in their situation, in their home, in their Church, in their cell group, in their worship team, etc.?

It is free for us today.  As we thirst, and as we come to the Alpha and Omega, He will give it to us! Isn’t it good to know that as we come thirsty, our thirst will be quenched?

Have you ever been so thirsty that nothing you drink takes it away? You keep having to drink because nothing quenches that thirst.

The Alpha and Omega has given us the fountain of the waters of life to drink from and that is His Holy Son, Jesus Christ. Cry out to Him today, and drink.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-29-12

(Prov 10:4 NKJV)  He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Sometimes we expect God to just swoop in and fix all of our problems, bless us with overflowing finances and give us everything we want.

Sadly, there are many teachers these days that are more than happy to prophesy over people about abundant new beginnings for them, promising them that God is going to shower huge blessings over them.

God can and will do this for us, but He will also require something of us. Most of the time what He requires is good, old-fashioned hard work!

God does not want to see His people become slothful and lazy. He wants us to work for what we have. Our diligence in working hard will show Him our intentions and our willingness to obey His word.

If you’re looking for blessings from God today, ask Him what it is that He wants you to do. Sometimes all it takes is for us to show Him we’re serious and take the first step, and then He will take the next one for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-12

(2 Th 3:13 NKJV)  But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.

We want to encourage everyone today to continue to do what glorifies God in your lives.

Doing a good thing is OK, but doing a “God” thing is best. There are times when we can choose to do something that seems right and good, but it might not always be what God has chosen for us to do.

As His followers we always need to be alert and listening to hear what it is that He has for us to do. Sometimes it might seem like the littlest, most insignificant thing that we brush it off and ignore it, maybe even doubting that it was God speaking to us.

But it’s the subtle things that can make such a difference. It’s that “still, small voice” that prompts us and shows us the way so many times.

We just need to let God sharpen our discernment so we can hear Him clearly. Once we do this, He can truly begin to do a work in us and our lives will be a testimony to His goodness and His mercy.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-27-12

(Mark 9:29 NKJV)  So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

This was Jesus’ answer to the disciples when they asked Him why they could not cast the demon out of a man’s son.

In some situations fasting is required along with prayer. We must always seek God and ask Him what it will take. What do we do Lord?

Sometimes for me, I will be right in the middle of a conversation and someone could be asking me for advice and I have no clue as to what to tell them and I’ll say, “Lord what do you want me to tell them”, or “Lord how do I handle this?”

He is always faithful to give the answer. Follow Him and His steps. Don’t try to repeat things just because it might have worked before, whether it’s something you did or something your saw someone else do. Every situation is different and may require different attention.

If we are in a situation today and it seems like nothing is happening, we need to make sure that we are doing everything the way God would have us to do it. If we want Victory we have to follow His leading, His guidance, and we have to do it His way!

Yes, this is humbling because we never know what to do without God or how He may tell us to do it. Yay! That’s the way He wants it!!

So if you’re facing something and you’re not sure what to do, take the first step by asking God “what do I do Lord?”. And then wait and listen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-26-12

(Mat 11:28 NKJV)  “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

As a follow-up to yesterday’s verse, we want to reassure everyone that God is in control.

Jesus told us to come to Him so He can give us rest! This adds to His words that we shared about worrying. He wants us to rest in Him!

This doesn’t mean that when something comes along that requires work on our part that we just ignore it and wait for God to clean up the mess for us. But it does mean that as we are obedient to Him and we do what He requires of us, we don’t need to “sweat the small stuff”.

God’s rest is different than what man thinks of when it comes to rest. God’s rest gives us peace, comfort and joy. God’s rest takes away our worries and replaces them with security in His word and His promises.

So take God’s promises and the words of Jesus and implement them in your life, trusting Him. Put them into practice and learn how to live in His peace. It takes some effort on our part initially, but the effort is more than worth it when we finally understand this truth and begin to walk it out.

We pray God’s peace over each and every one of you today, in the name of Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-25-12

(Mat 6:27 NKJV)  “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

This is never an easy lesson to learn, but not a single one of us can add anything good to our lives by worrying.

Worrying will not change any situation. It will not add money to our budget. It will not save our lost friends, relatives, spouses, or children. It will not fix broken relationships, a broken down car or a leaky roof.

Here’s what worrying will do. It will add to our stress levels. It will increase our blood pressure. It will give us gray hair prematurely. It will cause us to gain weight. It will destroy our health, and so much more. Nothing about worrying is good for us.

Oh, and worrying shows us how much or how little we trust God with our situations and our problems.

We know that it’s not always easy not to worry. It comes very natural for many of us. But it is so much easier to trust God and let Him work things out for us. And don’t be fooled. Just because things aren’t turning out the way we thought they should, doesn’t mean that He isn’t in control.

Sometimes we just don’t see the big picture and what God is doing may look a little odd to us at first. But if we trust Him and let Him work it out, we will see that He knows what’s best for us and He knows what He’s doing!

Trust Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-23-12

(Psa 118:8 NKJV)  It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man.

Earlier this morning as I was praying I saw hands; Jesus’ hands. In those hands, I saw myself. He was holding me in His hands. This is what God wants for me and for you. If only we could allow Him to hold our lives in His hands, how much better off would we be right now?

We can sit in a chair without even looking at it, without even checking it out. We just know it’s there and we don’t even hesitate to sit down. But yet, we struggle with putting all of our life in God’s hand. Why is this?

Well, I can only speak from my own experience and the way I feel and see things in my own life. But I truly believe that there are things in me that I just have a hard time trusting God for, or letting Him take care of without me knowing. I’m being honest, straight from the heart here…why else would I not let God hold all of me in His hands.

Today let us make a decision; let us be honest with ourselves. Today, take a good look at why we will trust a chair to hold us, but not God.

God is Good, He is Faithful, He is Perfect and Great. Mighty is HE!

Trust HIM!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-22-12

(Mat 6:19-21 NKJV)  “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; {20} “but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. {21} “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Where are our hearts? What do we treasure?

The answers to these two questions can tell us a lot about ourselves and where we are at in our walk with God.

What makes us happy and puts a smile on our faces will be dictated by what we value the most. Is it a shiny new car, a big house with lots of extra rooms, a new wardrobe, a new job or a raise on our current job?

Or is it seeing someone receive a breakthrough in their life, helping someone through a tough time, giving someone money when they’re in a tough financial situation or helping someone to have strength when they feel like they just can’t take another thing happening to them?

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not terrible to enjoy stuff. Believe me… I enjoy stuff too. But we need to make sure that God and His desires for us come before that stuff. We need to take pleasure in the things that give God pleasure.

When we press into God and begin to get His heart, then we will start to see the things that make us happy begin to change.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-21-12

(Mark 16:17-18 NKJV)  “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; {18} “they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Jesus left us with a command to cast out demons, heal the sick, and much more.

We have been given power and authority in the name of Jesus. We are not weak or powerless, unless we choose to be. As believers and followers of Christ, we have what we need to live a strong, bold, victorious life. But we have to know and understand that fact and then choose to walk in it!

Let me reiterate that once more: We are not weak and powerless unless we choose to be!

As believers we need to learn to walk in the authority that we have been given. It’s the key to shaking off that feeling of always carrying a heavy burden, hopelessness, powerlessness, etc.

So how do we do this? We recognize the things that are coming against us by the discernment given to us in the Holy Spirit and then we tell these things to leave our lives, in the name of Jesus.

Demons would tremble when Jesus came into their territory. They would beg Him not to cast them out. Why? Because they knew that when He spoke, they had to obey… because He had authority over them.

We have this same authority. It was given to us when we became a follower of Christ. We need to use it boldly! We need to take charge of our homes and our lives, in Jesus’ name.

Don’t walk in oppression and powerlessness any longer. Rise up and take charge of your life in Jesus’ name!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-20-12

(Psa 51:10 NKJV)  Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Oh, a CLEAN heart.

Think of how beautiful and clean God is. Nothing about Him is bad or wrong; He is perfect in every way. Wow, how I long to just have one minute go by where everything I do is right within that minute.

Sometimes it seems so hard to do and say the right thing even in just a short period of time. It can be so discouraging at times. It makes me feel so awful and weak at times.

But I know that God is doing a work within all of us and it doesn’t happen overnight. Sometimes it takes time for things to get changed and other times it happens quickly. Cleaning the heart is one of the biggest and longest processes there is; everything comes from our hearts.

(Prov 22:15 NKJV)  Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

Understand that we are God’s children and if we want this stuff driven far from us, we must let Him correct us, teach us, mold us and train us.

The heart is what we need to focus on. The love of God will help us clean things up and get things right if we go to Him, and those that He leads us to, to get counsel and advice from.

It’s a process and it can take some time, so don’t get discouraged…but be encouraged as we embrace God’s correction for us!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-19-12

(Prov 22:6 NKJV)  Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

If we are a parent, we have a responsibility to train up our children in the way they should go. That means teaching them about the Word of God.

Therefore, we should know what the word of God says and reinforce it in their lives. That doesn’t mean to give up and stop teaching them when they are (or think they are) old enough to tell us what to do.

Number one, they should never tell us what to do in our own home or anywhere else. Number two, they should have respect for our home and obey the rules that we set in our home, no matter how old they are.

No child should tell us what to do in our own home or mess up the atmosphere there. It’s not allowed! Something will dominate your home; either God’s Spirit or the devil’s. Which one is it for you?

Take some time and give your home and your children a good evaluation and then take the necessary steps that need to be taken to make sure things are in order.

If you need to change things up, don’t wait. Do it now. If you need to take a stand in some areas, don’t wait. Do it now. Sometimes things get ugly before it get’s pretty and the longer you wait, the worse it gets.

Get God’s wisdom on how to clean up, if need be, and move forward.
