Bible Verse of The Day – 4-29-17

John 20:30-31 (NKJV) 30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

The disciples walked with Jesus, talked with Jesus and ate with Jesus. They heard Him teach and they saw the things He did. They shared all the things they saw with their own eyes and all the things they did with Him, to help us know who He is.

Today, if you do not know who Jesus Christ is, get to know Him through reading God’s word. He will touch our hearts personally with His word of truth. Take it in and believe that we may have life and life more abundantly.

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-17

John 10:18 (NKJV) 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

In this verse, Jesus is speaking about the fact that He will be laying down His life. He specifically says He will do it willingly. He also said that no one can take it from Him. He did what he did of His own accord.

As followers of Christ, we have His example to follow in our day to day lives.

We won’t usually be required to lay our lives down in the literal sense, whereby we cease to exist. But we should be willing to lay our lives down for others in many other ways.

God has blessed each and every one of us in many, many ways. We all have skills, talents and abilities that he has given us. We need to make sure that we are using those skills, abilities and talents to be a blessing to others around us.

All of us know someone who could use our help or assistance in some way. Maybe it’s something small. Maybe it’s something major. Either way, we are accountable to our Father and we need to make sure we’re handling our blessings properly.

Many reading this have been blessed financially. If that’s the case, those finances should also be used to help others, as God leads and directs. Many times it’s easy to spend our money on things that we don’t really need. Because we are barraged with advertisements and social media, we feel like we’re missing out on things if we don’t run out and buy them.

But, as with our skills and talents, we need to be willing to obey God’s voice and use the finances He has blessed us with to bless others who might be in need. It’s always easy to think that “someone else will do it”. But we need to remember that we are that someone else.

And as we follow Jesus and grow in our walk with Him, we should find it easier and easier to lay our lives down for others.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-27-17

1 Corinthians 12:12 (NKJV) 12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.

Each of us, as members of the body of Christ, has a different function.

The human body has many parts. They all function together, in unity, to accomplish a purpose; to keep us alive and healthy.

And so as the human body functions as many parts, working together in unity, so must the body of Christ function together in unity, as one, to keep the body alive.

We’ve taught on this topic in the past with regard to denominations. But today we want to touch base on it from a slightly different point of view.

It’s imperative that we understand who we are in Christ. And it’s important that we are secure in that, so the enemy doesn’t sway us or discourage us from being who God has made us to be.

Each of us has gifts and callings that have been given by God. And each of those gifts and callings is unique to us. It’s part of who God made us to be. I can’t operate in your gift. You can’t operate in mine. And nobody else can operate in yours or mine. It’s just the way it is.

There is great danger in trying to make others fit into our mold, just as there is great danger in others trying to make us fit into their mold. Yes, there are many things we will work in unity toward, with a common goal and objective; advancing and enlarging the kingdom of God.

But the second we start trying to make others walk in our gift and tread on the path God has set before us, we are on the road to trouble. And the second others start trying to make us walk in their gift and follow the path that God has set before them, we are in trouble.

If the heart tells the lungs it doesn’t need them, the body will die. If the liver tells the kidneys that they are no good because they are not like it, the body will begin to die. If the spleen tells the stomach that it needs to function the same way it does, somebody is in big trouble.

There is no place for exclusivity or elitism in the body of Christ. It’s time to put an end to looking down our noses at each other because of differences in how God made us and is using us.

We are one in Christ. His blood was shed for each and every one of us. And as we learn to accept each other and move together as one, we will defeat the enemy and bring victory to the earth in the form of God’s kingdom.

And we will do it in the way God has ordained, not by dividing the body.

Mark 3:24 (NKJV) 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

We love each and every one of you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-26-17

Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) 6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change…

Life and everything about it is always changing. Things don’t stay the same for very long.

It doesn’t matter if it’s family situations, jobs, politics, finances, or anything else that affects our lives. It all changes at some point, and will continue to do so as long as we live.

Sometimes those changes are minor and we barely notice them. Other times the changes can be drastic, and they can really hit us hard. Sometimes they might make us feel like we’re about to get knocked off our feet.

But we want to encourage you and reassure you today that no matter what comes our way, no matter how unstable life might make us feel sometimes, there is one Constant that will never change, ever.

God never changes. He said so Himself. He is the Rock that will never fail or falter, no matter how bad things might look.

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

So how do we have this stability? How do we feel secure in the midst of an ever-changing world?

Jesus summed it up quite nicely when He told us to not only hear His sayings, but to do them!

And when we do that, we are building our houses (our lives) upon the rock.

Matthew 7:24-25 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-17

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

How many times do we feel we are not good enough or we are not worth anything at all? How many times do we feel that we could never do what others do? That we are never going to be anything important in life.

Well, today God wants you to know that you have already done wonderful things in your life. That you have already taken steps that maybe no one knows but Him. And those steps that you took you took when you were scared.

You had no idea what you were doing but felt with everything in you that you needed to do it, and you trusted Him with the rest.

God sees you through perfect, loving eyes and you are wonderful to Him! You are more than a conqueror through Him!

God bless you and keep going!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-24-17

Matthew 6:14 (NKJV) 14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you“.

Have you ever been betrayed by someone?

Betrayal is definitely painful. And we probably all experience it to some degree, at some point in our lives.

How do we handle betrayal? What do we do so that we don’t get bogged down by the hurt that we feel when someone betrays us?

When someone has betrayed us, it’s not uncommon for our first reaction to be wanting to get revenge, feeling extreme anger or even wanting to hurt that person like they just hurt us.

But, the first thing we really need to do is make a decision to forgive the person or people who betrayed us. This can sometimes be very difficult to accept and to do. But it’s necessary for us to do this. Otherwise we become a prisoner of our hurt feelings and our anger.

And if we hold onto those feelings and that anger for too long, it can turn into bitterness. And bitterness can eat us up from the inside out, if we’re not careful. Bitterness is kind of like poison that we’ve swallowed. We can’t really see it, but it’s on the inside of us, destroying us a little at a time.

Once we make the decision to forgive, then we need to begin walking it out, one day at a time. It takes time for it to come to fruition. As we give the hurt to God, He will help us begin to heal from the wounds that were inflicted by the other person.

And instead of us focusing on the hurt or the betrayal, we need to begin focusing on God and our walk with Him. As we do this, and as we draw near to Him, He will heal our heart and make us whole again.

It takes time. It won’t happen all at once, or immediately, but it will happen if we do our part and let God do His.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-17

Isaiah 35:3 (NKJV) 3 Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees.

When things happen that we have no control over, we can’t keep trying to act like we are in control. We need to let God have it. Lay it down at His feet and let Him take it.

To continue to try and fix something that is not ours to fix will simply drain us and take away all the strength we need for the things that He does have for us to deal with.

Are we wondering today why we are so tired and our strength has been stripped from us? We have to learn to ask God for help and stop trying to do everything on our own.

Strength will come when we ask God to help us and then let go of that thing we thought was ours to carry.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-17

Matthew 11:29 (NKJV) 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Sometimes our minds are our worst enemy. We think about things that might happen and then our thoughts run away from us. And this causes us to worry about things that we have no control over.

Sometimes we can get caught up in our emotions. It’s easy to do. Unfortunately, that’s the worst thing we can do.

God created us to have emotions! It’s part of His design. But He doesn’t want us to let our emotions control us. And He doesn’t want us to live based on our emotions. If we do live that way, our lives will be like a rollercoaster, up one day and down the next, based on how we feel.

God wants us to learn to rely 100% on Him for everything we need each and every day. It takes time for us to learn this. It’s a lifelong learning process!

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

That’s why it’s critical that we spend time in His word. Because as it gets into us, we learn to rely on it and pull it up from within our spirit when we need it.

The Holy Spirit is faithful to remind us of the things we have studied and learned from His word, so it’s important that we know the Word and let it become a part of who we are.

Take one day at a time. Spend time in His word. Let it become a part of who we are. And as we grow and learn to depend on Him, our emotions will no longer control our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-17

John 14:13 (NKJV) 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Are we asking or are we just waiting? If we are asking then the answer is here, or it’s in the works as we believe.

If we are just waiting to see what God will do and we haven’t asked Him for whatever it is that we may need or want, then it is what it is. Nothing is happening. We can’t blame it on God if we don’t follow directions.

We may say, “well, I don’t want to ask Him because there are many people who are worse off than I am. They need the help more than we do”. So does this mean that God must only have a small inventory, a limited supply?

It’s up to us to follow commands, not make them.

This is not a prosperity teaching. This is about learning how to ask God to help get us out of what we got ourselves into. And it’s about being relieved from bondage; the things that hold us down and keep us from entering into all that God wants from us and for us. We have to get free from those things that put distance between us and God.

You see, if we have bondage then we are not able to walk out the plan that God has for us to its fullest. We may do a little here and a little there, as time allows but never as fully as we could if we weren’t in bondage to other things.

Bondage to anything spells captivity. That thing takes up the time that would otherwise be available for us to do the things God may have for us to do, even if all He asks us to do is to sit at His feet and rest. If God wants us to take the time to do it, we have to be able to say, “yes God, I am here”.

Some of us today are not in a place to be able to do this. But, that doesn’t mean it has to stay this way. It just means we need to fix it, by asking God for help.

God wants all of us, not just a little piece of us. He wants us to be free to move when He asks us to. He wants our minds to be clear and rested, not stressed and overwhelmed.

If we are stuck owing everyone something, like our time, our money, and our energy, then we have not made ourselves available for Him. We are slaves to our own plan.

It’s time to start asking God to help us get completely free of the things that we are in bondage to.

The first step is to understand that God expects us to come to HIM for help and ask. We ask through the precious name of His perfect Son, Jesus Christ.

It’s important that, before we ask, we get His understanding and knowledge on what will be good for us to ask for. Sometimes we may already know. But if for some reason we don’t, we shouldn’t just start rambling things off that we think we need.

Let Him guide us in our prayers. Let it be serious and focused. And take notes. Pay attention to every detail, and be expectant.

Remember, it is God’s will to help us. It is His will to give to us as we ask. We don’t ask so that we may prosper in our own way, or for selfish reasons.

Our goal should be that He can have MORE of us and be glorified through us.

That’s why we ask. Amen.
