Bible Verse of The Day – 11-30-20

2 Chronicles 32:7-8 (NKJV) 7 “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. 8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

We all have enemies.

Some of our enemies are natural, fleshly. Other enemies are spiritual.

Either way, the words spoken above by king Hezekiah are truly inspiring and encouraging for each and every one of us, as they were for the people of Judah when he originally spoke them.

Volatile times, times of trouble that make us unsure about what we’re seeing around us, can cause many of us to sway back and forth in our emotions. One minute we’re strong and bold, while the next minute we’re unsure of anything at all.

It’s important that we not let our emotions dictate how we feel. It’s important that we let the Spirit of God continue to lead us and guide our steps, keeping us tracking toward God and His strength, not away from Him, into fear.

When these words were spoken, the people of Judah were facing a natural enemy, the king of Assyria and all of his armies.

Today, we may be facing a health crisis, a financial crisis, a crisis in the country that we live in. There are so many different things we can face.

No matter what it is, though, God is ultimately in control. He is still on the throne. He is still omnipotent. And that is why we shouldn’t live in fear, or lose hope in dire times.

As were the people of Judah, let us be strengthened by the words of king Hezekiah, king of Judah!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-28-20

Exodus 33:14 (NKJV) 14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

The times are drawing near where we are beginning to see some things we had probably all hoped wouldn’t happen in our lifetime.

Corruption and perversion are on the rise more than ever. It’s blatant, and the worst part about it is that it’s openly allowed.

It’s not questioned by the authorities. It’s given permission by the very ones we thought would protect us from it.

We need to remember that no one can protect us but God.

We have to know this. We have to know that as believers our protection comes from Him and Him alone.

We need to be with Him, oh so closely, hearing His word to us. We can’t be listening to too much of the news and other stuff that is happening. It can cause us to be in deep distress.

The Lord spoke to me just last week. He said, I want you to rest. I said, “Lord I don’t feel like I am tired.” But God never goes back on His word or explains His answer to us. It’s up to us to stay focused and do what He says.

So, I took the day and tried so hard to rest. My mind was not having it. Everything on the news, everything on the Internet, and everything in the atmosphere was crazy. How does one shut down?

I then realized what my good and gracious Lord was telling me. Rest my head. Get away from all the talk, from all the problems, and just rest my mind.

When I finally got what it was He was telling me, I could actually feel the results of the fatigue that had built up. I was mentally exhausted.

What did I do to relax? I vacuumed my house! I did things that I didn’t have to think about. And I love vacuuming!!

For me it’s very rewarding, with no thinking involved.

So, if you are in deep stress today, maybe like me you don’t feel like you are, but God is saying, “bring it down a notch”.

Do something that doesn’t require you to have to think.

REST your mind.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-27-20

1 Peter 1:24-25 (NKJV) 24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

Life. It’s conceived, it exists for a season, and then it’s gone.

Peter quotes a scripture from Isaiah (40:6-8) to make his point about this.

The original scripture from Isaiah uses grass and flowers to draw a parallel between the brief life of grass (and flowers) and a human life.

We all know that human life is fragile and fleeting. But many times, we don’t grasp this truth as solidly as we should. For some reason we just can’t seem to fully wrap our heads around the harsh reality of it.

As we grow older, though, we usually start to comprehend it in a new way that makes it more real. Losing someone in our lives can also drive this home on a personal level.

What’s most important in this particular scripture, though, is the comparison that’s made between the quickly-passing life of humans and the eternal nature of God’s word, and the incredible power that God’s word has to change us.

You see, we can’t change the fact that life comes and it goes. We live and then we pass on into eternity. This never changes.

Our lives while we’re here on earth, though, can be changed by God’s word, which never passes away.

In fact, our lives can be changed dramatically by His word!

So, it’s important that we not focus on the temporary nature of life, but rather on the way that God can change us and use us for His glory, no matter where we come from or what we’ve been through.

Life is here today and gone tomorrow. God’s word is not. His word endures forever. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-26-20

Psalm 119:143 (NKJV) 143 Trouble and anguish have overtaken me, Yet Your commandments are my delights.

There are always going to be things that try and overtake us at certain stages in our journey. No matter who we are, we will face troubling times.

It’s so important that, as we go through them, we watch and we listen for God’s commandments. Because whether we want to believe it or not, He will be there with us, both in the good times and in the hard times.

Keep obeying His commandments.

One of the first things we tend to do is to pull back from God when things aren’t going right or going the way we think they should go.

But, it’s important to recognize and remember hard times may be used by God to get us to where we need to be in our walk.

Don’t believe the hype talk that we hear so much of. Believe the real talk. God is God in our lives as much as we follow His commandments (His word and His precepts) and allow Him to be God.

He is with us in the storm, and I would add that He is with us in the calm. He is with us in the low times. He is with us in the high times. He is with us in the sad and sorrowful moments of our life, He is with us in the upbeat and exciting times for sure.

Delight in His commandments as David did and watch how He turns sorrow into joy!

Esther 9:22 (NKJV) 22 as the days on which the Jews had rest from their enemies, as the month which was turned from sorrow to joy for them, and from mourning to a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and joy, of sending presents to one another and gifts to the poor.

God is good! He will turn our sorrow to joy. Our mourning to a holiday.

Delight in His commandments no matter what. Don’t turn our backs on Him. Stay steadfast and keep doing what He has told us to do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-25-20

John 15:4 (NKJV) 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

Abide in Me and I in you.

How many times have we read this and we just blew right by that first sentence and kept going without giving it a second thought?

That’s not good!

That first sentence is a major component of our walk with God. In fact, the word “abide” actually has a very deep meaning in this verse.

So, let’s take a look.

Abide: continue, stay, remain, persist, hold on.

Now look at how it’s used in this verse.

Jesus said that if we abide in Him, He will abide in us.

There are two implications here.

Most of us will instinctively think of it as meaning that we need to stay close to Him or stick by Him. And this is true. When we abide (stick with, stay close to) Him, He will stick with us.

Maybe even more important, though, is this; if we are truly a believer (a follower of Christ), if we have embraced Him (put our faith in Him) and our heart has truly changed, (which it should do if our faith in Him is genuine) we will not depart from Him.

If we believe, we will abide (stick with, stay close to). If we do not believe, we will not abide.

This isn’t very often taught. Mostly because it is overlooked, as I mentioned at the beginning of this devotional. But sometimes it isn’t taught because it is a hard teaching; one that’s not easy to speak nor easy to hear and receive.

But truth is truth. And truth needs to be spoken, even when it is hard to swallow. Truth, after all, will set us free if we embrace it.

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-24-20

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV) 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Be kind to one another. Know that, as His child, God is watching us interact with others.

It’s so easy at times to find fault around us and grow cold toward people because of their actions, or maybe because of their personality.

We can completely overlook the good qualities and focus more on the negative if we are not careful.

Maybe we learned this as we were growing up.

Or maybe it’s just our personality type that causes us to see the bad things more readily than the good. Maybe we even like finding things wrong because it gives us a feeling of satisfaction.

We need to make the effort to find good things about others and not be afraid to share it with them.

A short while back, we had to make a trip out of town. While we were away, we found a coffee shop in the area where we stopped in for a bit and got some work done on our laptops.

We had never been there before. But we noticed how nice the people working there were to the customers, how clean the shop was and that the atmosphere there was exceptionally peaceful.

When we went to leave, we stopped and said, “thank you.”  And we told the people how nice it was there and what a good job they are doing.

They were so happy and thankful to hear that.

It takes effort to stop and say something kind. Many times we just don’t take the time to do it. But it’s never too late to make it a habit.

People will never stop us from speaking if we have a kind word to say regarding them. No. It makes their day.

Hold our tongue when it comes to gossiping, or negative talk, but let that tongue go when it comes to encouraging and being kind to others.

God will guide our words; when to hold them and when to let them go.

Job 6:24 (NKJV) 24 “Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; Cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

Oh, how powerful kind words are. They will melt the hardened heart and open their eyes to see that God is good.

Let us, God’s children, be the spreader of kindness to others and make their day!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-23-20

2 Chronicles 15:8 (NKJV) 8 And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and removed the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which he had taken in the mountains of Ephraim; and he restored the altar of the Lord that was before the vestibule of the Lord.

I am not what I would consider to be prophetic. At least not on a regular basis.

Today, however, I want to speak in a prophetic sense.

Over my many years of reading, studying and digesting the word of God, I have seen a lot that has given me insights and understanding regarding to the things we see happening around us in the natural.

The Holy Spirit has taught me how to watch, and to discern events and to recognize or perceive what’s going on beyond what we see with our natural eyes. I’m not special. He will do this for anyone willing to spend the time walking closely with Him.

The scripture above deals with something prophetic beyond the nation of Judah. The words spoken by Azariah, the son of Oded, caused Asa to get serious and make major changes in that nation.

2 Chronicles 15:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Now the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded. 2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

The words tore at the heart of Asa to the point where he was severely convicted and he made immediate changes to correct what was wrong.

Asa recognized that Judah had forsaken God. They had pushed Him aside in favor of whatever pleased them, including worshiping false gods and idols.

So, Asa led the nation in repenting and setting things right before God, putting Him back in His rightful place in their nation and in their lives.

2 Chronicles 15:12 (NKJV) 12 Then they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

Brothers and sisters in Christ, it’s time for us to do the same. It’s time to tear down the idols; to remove them from our lives and from our nation.

Pastor Ellie and I live in the USA. But this can easily apply to any nation.

Here in the USA we are currently in a situation that is threatening our very republic. But there is upheaval around the globe as I am writing this, as evil forces work to push a global agenda that not only frowns on our faith, but will actively work to remove our rights to live out our faith.

Yes, we are approaching end times. We are seeing it play out before our very eyes.

But we should never, ever lay down and let the enemy trample over us.

Just as Israel did so many times in the Old Testament, we all need to remove the idols from our lives and repent before Him, seeking His counsel and His forgiveness.

We need to put Him first again, where He rightfully belongs.

The time is now.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-22-20 – The Big Picture

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings!

We pray that you are walking more closely with God today than you were last week or last month!

We have another new video out today, “The Big Picture”.

In today’s video, we discuss and teach about making sure we’re always looking at the big picture when it comes to learning from God’s word.

Too many mistakes can be made if we only use “scripture snippets” or small pieces of verses taken out of context.

The video is short and to the point and it was fun to record.

We hope you‘ll take a few minutes to watch it.

Enjoy your day!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-21-20

1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV) 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light…

We are a chosen people, Lord, and we are crying out to You with a sincere heart in wanting to walk in Your light.

We are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Your own special people. You called us out of darkness.

Being fake and phony about our walk with You only hurts us and others that we associate with.

If they think we are a believer, and then they see us doing things that unbelievers do…well, that just makes people question You and the legitimacy of Who we say we have faith in.

We are sorry if we have just been going through the motions; If we have learned the Church lingo but deep down we have not changed our lifestyle, our words, actions or our addictions.

We have lived a fake walk up to now.

We have not fooled You and we don’t fool others who are watching. They can tell by our ways who and what we follow. Having a bible in one hand and living a worldly lifestyle in the other won’t cut it any longer.

Today, we sincerely cry out to You, God; forgive us. We want all of You and Your teachings/statutes to touch our hearts and change us so that we may walk in your ways each day.

That we may share love, and not hate. That we may not gossip, but turn away from those conversations that may lead us otherwise. That we may not be negative, but instead, speak life into situations and into peoples’ lives.

Help us, God, to be Who You say we are; Your own special people. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-20-20

2 Chronicles 6:14 (NKJV) 14 and he said: “Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven or on earth like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.

If we spend time in the word, and we pay attention, we will notice a very common thread that runs through it from start to finish when it relates to God’s covenant with His people and the mercy He bestows upon them.

That thread is there from start to finish. And once we see it, we will never be able to “not see it” again. It will become so obvious that we will smack our foreheads and say, “wow! How did I not see that before?”.

God started showing me this thread years ago. And it has stuck with me since then, becoming more and more prominent and obvious in everything that I read and study.

By now you’re probably saying, “enough already! Tell me what that thread is!”.

So, here it is, this ultra-important thing that I’m referring to.

God keeps His covenant and mercy with those who walk before Him with all their hearts.

Now, this is a delicate, touchy subject, so it needs to be looked at carefully.

God’s mercy in this verse refers to loyalty, not His willingness to forgive sin. And it is used in conjunction with the word “covenant” (contract, pact, promise, pledge) which also connotates loyalty.

So, we need to make sure that we look at this from a loyalty point of view, not a forgiveness or redemption point of view.

Now that we have established that, we can look at the meat and potatoes of this, so to speak.

“With those who walk before Him with all their hearts” is the key to all of this. And this thread runs through His word, from start to finish.

It is critical to our walk with Him in every aspect.

Over and over again I have seen this concept spoken of and reaffirmed throughout scripture, through the Old Testament and the New Testament.

It even applies to us seeking God and finding Him.

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

So, in the end, it all comes down to this; we get out what we put in. We are blessed by God (rewarded) based on how we “bless” Him. His level of “loyalty” to us is based on the level of loyalty that we show to God.

Again, this is not to be confused with His redemptive mercy.

But as we get understanding in this area, we will never look at our walk with God the same way again.
