Bible Verse of The Day – 2-29-16

Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) 12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

Sometimes our heads have a hard time getting out of the way and letting God lead us.

There are ways that just make sense to us. Our intellect says we should do certain things a certain way. It just seems right.

But when we let God’s spirit talk to us, and we heed His instructions, we end up doing things that just don’t make a lot of sense to our minds.

And if we choose to follow our heads, instead of following God’s leading, it can lead to some disastrous results.

It’s so very important that we follow God’s leading, instead of diving into something head first that will end up harming us.

And when we follow God’s way, instead of ours, we will have peace with the choices that we make, even when it might not seem right to our logical understanding.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-27-16

1 John 4:9 (NKJV) 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

There is life, beautiful life, for those that live and walk with Christ!

Every day is worth jumping up out of bed to learn of what door or doors He will open or close today. What will our eyes see through Him today? What will our heart feel through Him today?

God sent His ONLY Son for you and for me, to give us LIFE and life more abundantly!! Are we living abundant life through Him?

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The devil would love to steal the life Jesus has for us, by convincing us we can do it all on our own.

If we are doing everything on our own, and only call on Jesus when we are in a trial, that is not living through Him. That is us, living out our life from the little bit of knowledge and understanding we have learned throughout our years. By doing this, we will get OUR own results and miss out on life through Christ.

Living through Christ means He is the leader, the door opener, the door closer, the advice giver, the one we are accountable to in all that we do, every day.

The LOVE of God has been manifested through His Son. Enjoy His presence in our daily walk, resting in Him. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-26-16

Ephesians 5:6 (NKJV) 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Empty words. There are a lot of them floating around in the air these days.

Sadly, many of the empty words are coming from so-called church leaders.

No, this isn’t a church bashing message. But it is a message to call attention to some of the “teachings” being propagated today.

As followers of Christ, we need to be ever so vigilant to discern and guard ourselves against empty words. We need to let God’s spirit show us which words are truth and which words are empty and deceitful.

Everybody likes to feel good. We like to be encouraged. We like to hear happy things that lift us up.

But we also need truth, even when it isn’t so pleasant to hear. We need to know when we’re doing wrong, just as much as when we’re doing right. So there’s a balance in all of this.

So we encourage you to be wary of words and teachings that never address sin. Be cautious when all you hear is good and uplifting words that never speak of consequences for our choices.

We need to know when we’re doing wrong and making poor choices, so we can let God help us correct it.

1 John 2:1 (NKJV) 2 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

And when He shows us, we have forgiveness, free for the asking.

This is the encouraging word that God offers us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-25-16

Matthew 6:15 (NKJV) 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Yesterday, I ran into someone I hadn’t seen in a very long time. We were very close friends at one time in our lives. Some hurtful things took place and we became distant.

When I saw this person for the first time, face to face after many years, it was very uncomfortable for me. But the more we talked the easier it became.

When people hurt us, it takes some time for healing to happen. But there comes a time when we may run into that person again and we have to put it behind us and let it go.

That means holding nothing against them. When we see them we don’t associate them with what they did wrong.

God forgives. He does not remember. He doesn’t see our face and connect it with our mistakes. He simply forgives us as we ask Him to. And we need to do the same for those that make mistakes against us.

Forgive.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-24-16

2 Chronicles 32:7 (NKJV) 7 “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him.

Be strong and courageous!

We’re all facing something that’s daunting or intimidating. It could be a job interview, a financial crisis, a health problem, marital problems.

It doesn’t really matter what or who it is. The thought of it makes us flinch or shrink back a bit.

But we’re here today to tell you not to shrink back, and not to be afraid or dismayed. Why? Because we have the multitude of God on our side.

1 John 4:4 (NKJV) 4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

As a member of the body of Christ, we never walk alone. We have the Spirit of God as our Guide, living within us.

We have each other, fellow believers, to pray for us, encourage us and support us when we’re down.

And best of all, we have a Heavenly Father who owns the universe and everything beyond.

So let’s be bold, be strong and be courageous, in the name of Jesus, and face our adversities with confidence and strength, knowing that the God of the universe is on our side.

Romans 8:31 (NKJV) 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-23-16

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV) 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

It’s a wonderful blessing to have a Savior that we can go to and share our cares with.

There are times when we try to talk to friends or family, etc., about our cares, and they simply don’t get it or they don’t understand how we feel. Sometimes they may not even let us finish what we want to say before they start to give us their opinion or tell us what we need to do or not do.

Jesus will listen. He cares about what we have to say. He wants to know how we feel about things and He wants to help us in a way that is good for us. He listens and He understands.

If we are carrying a heavy load today, we need to take some time, quiet time, get with Jesus and cast our cares upon Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-22-16

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Word of God.

It’s our instruction manual for life. It’s God’s words of life to us. It lives and breathes. It gives us life.

It corrects us when we’re wrong. It encourages us when we’re down. It shows us the path of life.

It’s our food. It sustains us. It brings healing to sick bodies and broken spirits.

It’s a light in a dark world. It’s never-changing and forever true.

God’s word is essential for us to live and breathe as a follower of Christ.

We need to ingest it. We need to live by it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-20-16

Romans 6:10-11 (NKJV) 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus died once, for all. What does it mean when it says “for all”? For each one of us. He died for you and for me.

The death that He died paid the price for our sins. He didn’t need to die a thousand deaths. He didn’t need to die a million deaths. He died once, for all.

That death was sufficient. There was nothing else needed. He paid the ultimate price, as a gift to mankind.

The rest is up to us. It’s up to us to reach out and take that gift. And it’s up to us to let God show us how to leave our old, sinful self buried with Christ and to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, alive in Christ.

No, we can’t live our lives perfectly, as Jesus did. But we can let God teach us how to put Him first and let Him order our steps.

And as we take each step with Him, we will draw closer and closer to Him each day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-19-16

Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

This verse has become the words that Pastor Ellie and I have learned to live by.

This walk of faith is challenging. Some days it seems like nothing can go wrong. Other days it seems like everything goes wrong. Not that everything actually does go wrong. But it can seem that way if we look at it incorrectly.

That’s not to say that God isn’t faithful or that His promises aren’t true. It’s more to say that sometimes our heads get in the way. And when our heads get in the way, our hearts can’t see what God is doing.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Learning to walk by faith and not by sight is a never-ending learning process. Some days we run like Gazelles! Other days we trip and fall. We scrape our knees and look to our Daddy to pick us up and brush the dirt off.

There are times when we see so clearly. And then there are days when there is a lot of fog to cut through.

But, here’s the truth in all of this.

God is on the throne. His promises are true! And when we face things in life that we don’t understand, it’s OK!

The important thing is that we look to Him for our answers. And when those answers come, we need to take Him at His word, even if it doesn’t make sense to our mind and our intellect.

We teach on this frequently. Why? Because it’s a profound truth that every single one of us needs to learn. We not only need to learn it, but we need to live by it!

So when things come along that you don’t understand, or if something doesn’t work out quite the way you had hoped it would, don’t fret. Don’t give up. And don’t turn away from God.

On the contrary. Run toward Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-18-16

1 Corinthians 13: 1-3 (NKJV) 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

It is because of love that God sent His only begotten Son to take our place on that cross. Because of our sin, we should have been the ones to endure what Jesus went through. The pain and suffering should have been ours.

He shouldn’t have had to do it. He was perfect and knew no sin.

But because of such beautiful love, He did it! He did it for each one of us personally.

Can we take such an example as this and let it move us? Let it teach us and speak to our very being, that we too may walk in such love.

It’s not going to be easy. It will take one step, one day, and sometimes one minute at a time, as we learn to push back all the other feelings that try to pull on us, and all the other ways of doing things that may come to mind.

It will take putting ourselves aside and doing things different than what we are used to. It will take A LOT. But remember what it required of Jesus and what He went through to show us the WAY. It was more than what we could ever endure.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV) 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Ask Jesus to help us walk in such love. A love that is so strong it will cause people to see nothing but His precious Son, Jesus Christ, moving through us.
