Bible Verse of The Day – 11-29-14

Psalm 139:14 (NKJV) 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.

The human body is a complete marvel in all of its intricacies.

Even just the fact that we can control our limbs, hands, feet, fingers and toes by merely wanting to do so is completely awe-inspiring.

Each day that we live, we take so much of what we can do for granted.

We see, hear and smell. We walk, run and do all kinds of other physical activities.

And yet we barely give it a thought. We just do it and never realize that every action that we take or thought that we think is a miracle of God’s workmanship.

Did you know that the second we are conceived in the womb, our fingerprints, our DNA, our sex and our blood type are determined in a split second?

Have you ever thought about some of the functions of our bodies, beyond the obvious stuff?

Did you know that our eyebrows keep sweat from getting into our eyes? And our fingernails are there to protect our fingertips? And our toes help us balance?

There are so many things that we never think of, but yet it’s all part of the miraculous, creative power of God.

As you read this today, stop for a moment and think about some of the things you do each and every day that require the awesome creativity of God at work in your life.

It’s pretty awe-inspiring, isn’t it?

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-28-14

Genesis 6:5(NKJV) 5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Understanding what God says about the condition of our hearts, without Christ, will help us all to see why Christ came to save us and why we need Him working daily in our lives.

If we look closely at what is happening all around this world, the good and the bad, we will see that it stems from one common denominator, that is the heart condition of man, whether or not He has Christ.

Genesis 6:6 (NKJV) 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. It is the condition the heart is in that causes the person to do what they do, whether they do a good deed or a bad deed. That is why Christ says, we will know them by their fruit. Matthew 7:20 (NKJV) 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

If we see someone, whether a leader, a friend or family member, etc., doing things wrong, if we want to see them change, we need to pray for God to change their heart. That is where everything stems from.

God says in Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV)9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

Knowing this simple truth about the condition of the heart will help us to stay focused today, understanding the real problem behind people’s actions.

Let’s join together and pray for God to change the heart of man, that they will repent and receive Christ as their Lord today. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-27-14

1 Thessalonians 5:15-18 (NKJV) 15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Give thanks in everything.

Think about those words. And no, this isn’t a message geared toward giving thanks because it’s the Thanksgiving Holiday in the USA, although it would seem fitting.

Instead, let’s take a quick look at something else about these verses that many of us have probably never seen before.

As I was reading through this, God showed me the first sentence, “see that no one renders evil for evil”, and then He showed me the beginning of that last sentence, “in everything give thanks”.

And He showed me that the key to doing that first part, not rendering evil for evil, is actually found in doing the second part, giving thanks in everything.

You see, if someone does evil to us, our first reaction in the flesh is figuring out how we can get back at that person.

But if we use God’s wisdom, and we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, we won’t be caught up in revenge. Instead, we will give thanks for our blessings and let God sort out the rest.

No, it won’t always be easy. And there will be times when we might miss the mark and say or do something that’s not righteous. But as we grow and mature as a believer, we will  get this, and those times when we lose it and lash out should become less and less frequent.

So today, if someone mistreats us or does us wrong, let’s stop and remember what God has commanded us to do. Give thanks in everything!

BIble Verse of The Day – 11-26-14

1 Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV) 24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

Everything that we do, say or think is going to either move us ahead, move us back or keep us standing still.

Whenever we open our mouth and say something good or do something good, it moves us forward in this race we run.

Whenever we say or do things wrong or make wrong decisions, it either moves us back or keeps us in the same place, for however long it takes us to do the right thing or make the adjustments that need to be made.

That’s the race we all run.

Some of us move ahead fast in some areas. But then there are those areas that we don’t want to fix things or change ourselves. Those are areas that push us back or keep us standing still.

If we want to get ahead and obtain that prize, we have to work on those areas where we don’t want to change.

We can’t be stubborn and ignore it. We have to face it, admit it and fix it. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-25-14

Genesis 2 (NKJV) 18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

A HELPER is the key word here today. Webster dictionary defines a helper as: someone who helps another person with a job or task.

Men, you need to let your wives be that helper that God made them to be. And wives, you need to help your man.

Talking and listening to each other about every little thing or big thing is important in a marriage. It’s in those little conversations that we can pick up on a lot of things that we might otherwise miss.

There may be times when we think we shouldn’t tell our spouse something because we want to protect them. But by doing that, we are hiding things from them and that may come back to bite us, even though we had good intentions.

Men, are you struggling today in some areas? Then take some time and talk to your wife. Don’t hide it, or keep it from her.

Women, always be ready to help your man. Whether they come to you on their own, or if you see something going wrong, and you know they need help, talk with them. Share your concerns with them. There’s no need to yell, nag or tear them down. But speak out of wisdom, love and compassion.

Work together as a couple and make the changes that need to be made. Don’t leave it all up to one person to fix it.

It takes a man and woman helping each other to have a good, strong marriage. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-24-14

2 John 1:7 (NKJV) 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

There are many deceivers in the world.

We don’t have to look far to find them. They’re on TV. They’re on the Internet. They’re in magazines. They write books.

They’re in churches. Many will speak words that sound very close to the truth. But they have lying tongues and a deceptive message that ultimately lures people away from the truth.

We encourage you to listen closely and use God’s discernment to anyone who claims to speak the word of God.

Galatians 1:8 (NKJV) 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

This is not a “glom and doom” message, so please don’t take it as that. Neither are we accusing a particular person. We just want to be sure that everyone dissects what they hear and see very carefully.

God’s word is our measuring stick, so be sure to take what you hear and compare it to God’s word. If it lines up with His word, take it and digest it. It is good!

If it doesn’t line up with His word, dispose of it and leave it behind.

The good news is that God gives us His spirit to help us discern good from evil!

With His help, we will prosper and bring forth good fruit by the words that we hear.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-22-14

Deuteronomy 3: 22 You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you.

Who is causing problems for us today? Are we feeling like every time we do something, someone has something negative to say about what we have accomplished or the way that we accomplished it?

Are we feeling fearful about what others are trying to do to us or what they think about us?

It’s time to stop fearing and start trusting.

We need to keep doing what we know is right and keep looking to God to take care of the rest. He will fight for us.

Rest in Him today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-21-14

John 13:35 (NKJV) 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

We are to love one another.

Jesus commanded us to do so. We are to show the love of God to those around us, believer and non-believer.

Love disarms evil. It melts hardened hearts. It brings unity where there was division. And it draws people to God, instead of repelling them and pushing them away.

Proverbs 10:12 (NKJV) 12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins.

Love crosses international borders. It crosses cultural barriers. And love doesn’t see a person’s race or skin color.

We were all created equal by God Himself. It doesn’t mater where we’re from or what ethnicity we are. God expects us to love one another.

Skin color is just that; color.

It doesn’t, and shouldn’t, make us who we are. It should not dictate our preferences for friends, social status or political allegiance.

The color of our skin should not be something that we look at apart from the word of God. We are to love each other without ever looking at the color of someone’s skin.

Do you have racial prejudice inside you? Even just a tiny bit? Does the color of a person’s skin cause you to think of them a certain way, or do you simply see them through the eyes of God and love them?

This is a hard question and a very tough topic. But God wants it addressed.

So we ask you to let God examine your heart and show you if it is truly unbiased or if you’re harboring any kind of racism in it?

Love one another, regardless of the color of one’s skin.

By this the world will know that you are His disciples, if you have love for one another.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-20-14

Deuteronomy 4:9 (NKJV) 9 Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren…

Is the busyness of life trying to steal from us our time to share with our children the truth of God’s word and the things He does for us today?

Kids need to hear about God, and they need to be shown how to pray, how to ask God for help, for healing and to thank Him for the answers.

It is so very important that we teach them.

God is amazing and He is exciting to learn about! The things He has done for us are better than anything any superhero can ever do and He’s REAL!

It’s sad to think that kids are being taught so much about fake super heroes but have been taught very little about the most AMAZING hero of all…Almighty God.

Don’t leave it up to Sunday School teachers to teach our children. Keep God’s word growing in ourselves and in the hearts of our children every day. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-19-14

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.

Did you know that God delights in us?

He does!

The verse above shows us that He delights in our way, as we follow the steps he has set our feet on.

Despite what some people might teach or think, it doesn’t take a lot to please God. He simply wants us to walk in the steps He has ordered for us.

If we do this, we are pleasing Him.

It’s not nearly as complicated as we sometimes make it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-18-14

Lamentations 3:25 (NKJV) 25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.

We need to teach ourselves to seek God and wait on Him for direction and answers every day. It may not be what we are used to doing, but It is the way to get good Godly results. It will cause our situations to change and we will be the head and not the tail.

Deuteronomy 28:13 (NKJV) 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.

Observing the things God shows us to do in any given situation can be an exciting way to live!

Many times when God has given us directions or has shown us what needs to be done, usually it is not what we would ever have thought of on our own.

Trust Him, stay open minded and know that He is faithful to help us in all areas of our lives! Amen.
