Bible Verse of The Day – 3-31-21

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Part of learning to walk by faith is learning to allow God to transform us by way of renewing our minds.

Well, what does that mean?

In a nutshell, it means that as we press in to God and learn of Him, the way we think and reason will be fundamentally changed.

As we grow into a mature believer, our thought processes will change.

We will no longer think solely by logic or intellect. We will begin to learn to think by way of the Holy Spirit.

Wait. What?

Yep! We will learn to allow the Spirit of God to guide our thoughts in a way that actually defies typical human reasoning.

As we do this, we will begin to see all other facets of our lives also be transformed.

And as that happens, our lives as a whole will change because we will no longer have the same set of values.

By this, I mean that what we see as important will change drastically over time. What we used to value highly will no longer hold as large a place in our hearts. In fact, some things that we used to think were terribly important will now mean very little to us.

But here’s the funny part about that.

As we genuinely place God higher and higher in our hearts, putting Him above all else, He will begin to give us some of those very things that we forfeited in order to allow Him to have that higher place in our lives.

Then, all we need to do is make sure we continue to keep Him there.

1 Kings 3:11-13 (NKJV) 11 Then God said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you. 13 And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-30-21

1 Kings 3:3 (NKJV) 3 And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places.

We need to beware of the “excepts” in our own lives.

We may love the Lord and keep a lot of His commandments, but when there is an, except this or except that, we need to pay attention and deal with it immediately. We need to get to the root of it.

We need to work extra hard to keep those “excepts” out of our walk. Because it’s those very things that have a grip on us and many times keeps distance between us and God.

In Solomon’s day these ”high places” or elevated hilltops were off limits to God’s people. The pagans believed the closer they were to heaven, the greater the chance their prayer and sacrifices would reach their gods.

We need to remember Who our God is, and that we can reach Him at any time and from anywhere.

If we are in the valley or on the mountain, if we are in a hard place or in a happy place, our God will hear our cry and the praises from our lips.

Get rid of the “except” part of our walk, those things that bring distance between us and God, and move forward with Him in a more powerful, tight-knit, and fulfilling relationship than ever before. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-29-21

Matthew 22:36-38 (NKJV) 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment.

God’s word is alive. We’ve talked about that many times in the past.

On that note, this scripture above is one that I’ve read many, many times. Yet, in the fact that God’s word is very much alive, despite me reading it many times before, this time it spoke to me very loudly about something that I hadn’t really paid much attention to in the past.

And it was this; the great (greatest) commandment.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind.

This, in essence, is the foundation of our entire walk with God.

If we can get this right, everything else about our relationship with the Creator will be in proper order, and it will help that relationship to grow and flourish.

So, it’s important that we keep our priorities right in our walk with Him, being sure to always put Him first in everything we do, no matter how big or how small it may seem to us.

This is something that has had a huge impact on our own lives over the years, as God has taught us this most basic, but often-overlooked, principal and truth.

As we have learned it and put it into practice in a sincere, genuine, wholehearted way, He has shown Himself to us in ways that we could never have imagined.

And He will do the very same for you, too, as you walk this truth out in your own lives.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-21 – The Foundation

https://youtu.be/AaMzwgJlAJ0Greetings in the name of Jesus!

There is no magic formula or secret key to having a strong walk with God.

There is, however a foundational truth that will put us squarely on the path to that kind of relationship with our Creator.

In today’s video, The Foundation, we teach about this and share insights that will help you better understand why some flourish and grow, while others struggle endlessly to move beyond where they are and move toward becoming mature believers with strong faith in God.

This video is fun and informative, so we hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-21

Job 6:24 (NKJV) 24 “Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; Cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

Sometimes we don’t like to hold our tongue. It takes discipline. It takes knowing we don’t always have to get in the last word. It takes humbling ourselves and quietly walking away.

We all have moments when we are not going to keep silent. We just want to say what we have built up inside. This could cause problems if we all just walked around saying whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted.

God knows the timing of speaking things and when our words will be effective. Let Him teach us and guide our words that they may bring life, joy, wisdom and encouragement to those around us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-21

John 1:26 (NKJV) 26 John answered them, saying, “I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know.

“There stands One among you whom you do not know”.

At the time that John the Baptist proclaimed the coming of the Messiah, he told the people that He was, in fact, already standing among them.

Jesus had come and was among the people from time to time. But they failed to recognize Him. It was John’s calling and duty to make Him known to everyone who would listen.

In those days, it’s easy to see why Jesus could walk among them and not be seen for who He was. Without prophetic insight, or a direct word from God, it would not be easy to recognize One who looked just like the rest of them and quietly mixed in with the crowds.

How is it for us today? Do we fail to recognize Him, even when He is in the midst of us?

Do many of today’s churches become so caught up in their programs, plans and activities that they leave Jesus standing outside, peering in through the windows, waiting to be invited in?

Do we as individuals keep Him shut out as we scurry around with our busy lives, and then wonder why “He doesn’t show up” when we want Him for something?

These are important things to ponder on and seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit about.

It’s easy to say that we have Jesus living actively in our lives. It’s yet another thing to actually be doing it.

Let’s make sure that we have truly opened the door to Him and let Him in.

Revelation 3:20 (NKJV) 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-21

Proverbs 4:25 (NKJV) 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you.

Today we are going to talk about focusing.

This is the season to keep focused. There will be things pulling on us at times and they will try to pull us off track and get us distracted, doing other things that are not necessarily what we need to be doing right now.

Distractions come in many ways and at different times.

The enemy loves to use this to slow us down. But we are not going to let him do this.

It’s time we say, “no more distractions!”, and focus on what God wants us to be doing.

Put that right foot in front of the other and move forward. Every time we stay focused, we get ahead and we advance God’s Kingdom.

This is going to take listening, discerning and walking away from things that we may enjoy doing at times, just to keep on target and stay focused.

Get ready to say no, to silence the phone, to get weird looks and attitudes from others. Because when we stand strong and we’re focused, there will be some darts thrown our way.

Focus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-24-21

John 1:11-12 (NKJV) 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

God came to earth as a man, in the form of Jesus Christ, the Son.

He came down to the very earth that He created (the first use of “His own”), to the people He called His own (the second use of “His own”, the Jewish people), only to be rejected by them.

We may look at this and be shocked.

How could anyone reject the very One who made them? Wouldn’t that crush Him?

But here’s the thing; God knew in advance what would happen. He knew that He would be rejected. He knew His people were a stiff-necked people.

So, what did He do?

He went to those who would receive Him and embrace Him, and He offered them life; new life in Him.

To those who received Him and believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.

He gave them (us) the opportunity for forgiveness, redemption from their sins and the hope of eternal life.

God is never caught off guard. He is never without understanding. And He is never without foresight or understanding.

We may sometimes think of this as God’s alternate plan; a plan to make up for the failure of His first plan. But God knew all along that He would eventually reach out to the gentiles.

He didn’t pick us as a second people, aside or in addition to His “original people”. Instead, He grafted us into the vine, making us his very own (Romans 11:17-24).

For this we need to be careful to be thankful, that He saw fit to include us as His own and graft us into the vine, that because we receive Him and believe in Him, we have the right to be called children of God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-23-21

2 Samuel 22:7 (NKJV) 7 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry entered His ears.

The Lord heard David’s voice.

Do we cry out to Him? Do we talk to Him? And do we ask for His help?

David did. Why? Because David knew that what he faced was bigger than him.

2 Samuel 22:18 (NKJV) 18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me; For they were too strong for me.

Admitting that what stands before us is bigger than us is crucial.

Could it be that we don’t cry out and get help because we think we’ve got this? We want to keep the reigns in our own hands? We keep pushing to take care of it on our own.

When the enemy is way too strong for us, do we let it keep on beating us down because we refuse to ask for help?

David cried out, and if we read on, we will see that he is reflecting on how God helped him through so much!!

What is our problem? Is it that we don’t cry out? Is it that we don’t want to ask for help because then we may have to accept the fact we actually need help?

Could it be pride that keeps us from getting the help we need and pride that keeps us in the struggle and the war we are in today?

David knew, time after time, that as he cried out to His Father, help would come. And David was strengthened by God’s hand each time. Not in a prideful way, but he was strengthened in his faith toward his Father, knowing He would be there somehow, in some way, to rescue him.

We need to let God help. But before He can, we have to realize that what we face is too big for us.

And then we have to open up and cry out for help, believing He will be our refuge and our fortress!!

Psalm 91:2 (NKJV) 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-21

Psalm 119:130 (NKJV) 130 The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

God’s word is the single most important thing that we can partake of as a child of God.

His word feeds us, gives us wisdom, offers counsel, gives us understanding and does so much more for us as we take it in and apply it to our lives.

This simple scripture above sums it up perfectly, telling us that the entrance of His word gives light.

What this means is that it brings light to our minds and our spirits, allowing even the simple to understand things that would otherwise be incomprehensible to us.

This is why it’s so important for each and every one of us to spend time in His word. Whether we are a new believer or we have been a believer for many decades, we all need a daily infusion of His word.

It brings light into the darkness, truth that prevails over lies, freedom where there is bondage.

Here’s the key to all of this; we need to read it.

We need to determine within ourselves to set time aside each and every day to read it, take it in and let it speak to us by His Spirit.

This one thing will move us closer and closer to God, as we apply what we read to our hearts and to our daily lives as we walk them out here on earth.

We will never, ever be sorry for time spent in His word.
