Bible Verse of The Day – 3-31-17

1 Samuel 2:2 (NKJV) 2 “No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.

Some Churches have become more about money than about how many souls we can reach. There is more focus on how many members we have than on God’s purpose and plan for that area. The music has become more like a modern rock concert than a time of worship and adoration toward God.

It’s not hard to figure out why the attendance numbers in churches have dropped. These types of things that have become established in the church will not help anyone. People come to the church to find answers, learn the truth, get help and find guidance to help them get on the right path.

None of these things will help with that.

This is about selfish ambition, greed, and pride. And it has become a big problem. How do we fix this?

We turn back to our first LOVE and allow Him to set our priorities straight.

When hearts get off the right track, it can mess things up big time. It takes some work and time to get it back on track again. It doesn’t mean everything will be back to where it was before. We may have lost some good things along the way. But, we can’t give up.

Today, the church as a whole needs prayer. It starts with praying for our leaders, our Pastors. If our leaders need help, they need to act responsibly and take time away to get with God. Let Him direct them to good Godly counsel that can help them through it. It’s not good to keep trying to steer the ship when the rudder is broken. Pull off and get it fixed.

Our heart cries out for the body of Christ today, especially for those that are sitting under a struggling leader. Pray that God will help us get back on track, back to the simplicity of His purpose and plan for the church.

Money can’t buy love. Fame can’t bring us peace, and entertainment is not the JOY that brings us the strength we need each day.

We need God’s simplicity back in the church today. He is our ROCK and our foundation!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-30-17

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Prayer is something very unique. God doesn’t have a mold that our prayers have to fit into. We can communicate with Him in our own personal way, which makes it very powerful and personal for each of us.

Some people think prayer involves asking God for something over and over again until we get it. Here’s what the Word says about this:

James 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Many people misinterpret “fervent” as meaning repetitive. But fervent actually means passionate or very intense. It has nothing to do with repetition.

In the following verse, Jesus mentions repetitive prayers:

Matthew 6:7 (NLT) 7 “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.

Jesus Himself said this. But to be clear, He wasn’t necessarily telling us to never pray about something more than once. He was letting us know that repetition for the sake of repetition isn’t necessary or effective when it comes to answered prayers.

Philippians 4:6, referenced at the beginning of this message, tells us that we are to make our requests known in prayer and supplication, thanking God for the answers.

Supplication refers to being humble, not demanding or bossy with our requests. Yes, we can approach the throne boldly to make our requests known. But that doesn’t give us the right to make demands in arrogant or self-centered ways.

And, lastly, here’s what James says:.

James 5:15 (NKJV) 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

So our prayers should be spoken with faith, trusting God to answer them.

And we need to understand that prayer isn’t just talking to God so He will change His mind or move in a specific direction for us. It’s about moving things in the spirit world.

Because of the authority we have in the name of Jesus, we need to also be rebuking evil spirits, commanding them to leave in certain situations, as well as binding the enemy and loosing the things of God, such as healing, a sound mind, deliverance, etc.

Matthew 16:19 (NKJV) 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

These things all work together in our prayer life to bring about God’s will and purpose here on earth.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-29-17

Mark 12:30 (NLT) 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’

There are lots of things we can love.

Our spouse, fiance, career, children, church, ministry, etc. And all of these are good things that we should love.

But sometimes our love for something can become a weakness if we don’t keep our priorities straight.

Sometimes we can love things that aren’t so good. Maybe things like alcohol, lust, drugs, anger, etc. And loving these kinds of things can destroy us, physically, emotionally and spiritually if we don’t see them for what they are and eliminate them.

Anything that we love, if it comes before our love for God, can rise up and hurt us at some point in our lives.

Yes, even our love for our spouse, our children, our work or our “ministry” can hurt us.

If we love alcohol, it can and will destroy us. If we love lust, it can and will destroy us. If we love any kind of sin, it will ultimately rise up and destroy us if we don’t surrender it to God and let Him deliver us from it.

But even our love for our spouse or our children can damage us badly, or even destroy us, if we don’t put it in its proper place in our lives.

We always need to love God first. He needs to take precedence over absolutely everything else in our lives. He needs to come first. Everything and everybody else needs to come after God.

When we put anything else before God, we are always setting ourselves up to be hurt or to fail. Because when something is higher on our list of priorities than God is, that thing will ultimately hurt us in one way or another.

It is so very important that we keep our priorities in order and keep God where He belongs, at the top of that list!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-17

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

When we have Jesus we don’t want to be involved in things that He speaks against.

We feel it when we attempt to do something that is wrong, and this causes us to turn from it because of our love for Him.

We know when we participate in or do something that is dark because of the conviction we feel when we do it.

Sometimes mistakes happen and we realize afterwards that what we did was wrong, and we wish we hadn’t done it. That is what repentance is for. We can go to Him and ask for forgiveness, and He will forgive us.

Some people may think “well, I have done something really terrible, and I knew better”. Well, we probably did know better. But just knowing something doesn’t do much. Our actions and our knowledge have to come together, and sometimes they don’t. And when that happens we do  just the opposite of what we KNOW we are supposed to do.

If there is a desire in us to continue to do the things that we know deep down are wrong, then there is a very good chance that we have not surrendered completely to Him.

Christ cannot do a complete work in us until we completely surrender. We can’t pick and choose what we surrender and what we hold on to. Those things that we choose to hold onto will continue to pull us back into darkness.

We need to give it all to Him.

Give those things to Him today and let Him help us to turn completely from them, that we may walk in the light.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-17

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NKJV) 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

What is the key in giving? That we give cheerfully.

We give of our time, we give of our money, we give love and we give encouragement, etc.

We share God’s truth through our words and mostly through our actions. This is all part of giving.

Giving is the right thing to do.

Christ gave His life for me and for you. He gave to us the most precious gift anyone could ever give to us. He gave us eternal life. That means we live forever.

Oh what a JOY!

Make giving a priority in our lives. Ask God to show us where, when and what to give. He is faithful to take care of us as we sow these seeds of cheerful giving!

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

God bless you!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-17

2 Timothy 2:22 (NKJV) 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

As we read this, we might tend to focus on the first few words; Flee youthful lusts. And that is definitely what we are being encouraged to do.

But if we look more closely, we are also shown how to accomplish this, by spending time with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

A pure heart is so important in everything we do. Our heart is where we keep everything. It’s where everything that we think, say and do comes from. What’s in our heart tells us a lot about who we really are.

God has instructed us to spend time with those who seek Him out of a pure heart, with no hidden motives or agendas and with no deceit. He knows that as we spend time with these kinds of people, that time together will benefit us and help us to steer clear of those youthful lusts He warned us about.

And as we grow, we will also be able to help those around us to do the same thing. The time spent together will be mutually beneficial. And we can all grow stronger together in our walk with God.

So even though we need to reach out to those in need and those who don’t know God, and offer His love to them, we also need to be sure that we are spending time with men and women of God who have a pure heart.

Those with a pure heart will never lead others astray.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-24-17

Psalm 55:22 (NKJV) 22 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

One day as I was on my knees praying, I was heavyhearted with so many things. I heard the Lord say to me in this very gentle, but yet firm voice, “you are not the Savior, you know”. I replied back to Him, “Oh Lord, of course I’m not. You are!”. “Well”, the Lord said, “your actions show differently”.

Suddenly I realized what was happening. I had gotten so busy and concerned about the things I was seeing and hearing, that I neglected to take the time I needed to stop and pray about them. Instead, I carried them.

More things kept coming and piling up. It was getting so heavy on me it began to affect me physically. I was getting tired, moody, and I started to get an attitude. That happens when you are carrying a heavy load and you don’t get God’s help.

You see, when we pray and we give the things we are concerned about to God, He takes them, leaving us lighter and free.

Yep. So if you are feeling this way, let me say to you what I heard the Lord say to me; You are not the Savior you know.

Give those things that you are carrying to the Lord. Tell Him about it and leave it there. He will deal with them accordingly as we trust Him with them. He knows what it will take to fix them.

We were not made to carry them, but to cast them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-23-17

Acts 3:6 (NKJV) 6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

The name of Jesus is no ordinary name.

Once we understand what the name of Jesus can do we will never look at things quite the same way again.

The name of Jesus sets men and women free!

The name of Jesus can overcome sin and death. It heals people of sickness. It can set people free from addictions. It can free the captive from bondage.

You see, the name of Jesus can even drive demons away, even if they don’t want to be driven away.

Acts 16:18 (NKJV) 18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour.

So, if we are followers of Christ, we have a mighty weapon at our disposal, to help us defeat the enemy in our lives and in the lives of others who are in need of help.

The name of Jesus has the power to transform us. But only if we let it.

So if we are struggling with something today, and we can’t seem to overcome it, we need to call on the name of Jesus and have faith that he can deliver us!

We may not always understand this, but that’s where faith comes in. Sometimes we just need to step out of the boat, obey the call of Jesus and walk on the water.

Matthew 14:29 (NKJV) 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

It is then that we will see the power of the name of Jesus in action on our behalf.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-17

Matthew 13:15 (NKJV) 15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’

Healing comes when we allow God to open our eyes and ears to hear and see the truth. Is the truth always easy to swallow? No. Sometimes the truth can hurt when it goes down.

But once it’s in us and we let it work deep inside of us, it can bring wonderful changes if we take the steps we need to take.

What condition is our heart in today? Has it grown dull? Is it hard, cold, and angry? How about our ears? Can they still hear that still small voice of God? Or have things we’ve been through these past days, months, or years taken their toll on our walk with God?

How about our eyes? Have we stopped looking and seeking for God’s answers and completely given up all hope, maybe because we are just so tired of it all?

Let down that wall my friend, and let God open the eyes of our heart towards Him once again. He will bring true healing and understanding. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-21-17

Philippians 2:3 (NKJV) 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Having the right intentions when doing things for others is the key in being a blessing and shining God’s light. Our motives have to be for the right reasons.

If we help someone out, do it because we really want to, not because we want to get something out of it. We shouldn’t do it because we feel pressured into it, but because we honestly and truly want to help them, with no strings attached.

Be careful when helping others that we don’t get stuck constantly being the one to pull them out of their troubles. God may use us for a season and then pull us away.

This isn’t to be mean or hurtful in any way. But seasons come and go, and sometimes the season for helping one person or situation may end so that the season for another may begin.

Having the right heart and discernment in what we do stems from knowing God, and getting close to Him.
