Bible Verse of The Day – 1-31-15

John 5:39,40 (NKJV) 39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

The scriptures are God’s words that point us to His Son, Jesus Christ; our Lord and Savior. But in order to find salvation and have eternal life, we have to do more than just read them. We have to come to Jesus.

How do we come to Jesus?

We come just as we are. We don’t need to do anything to change ourselves before we come to Him. As we come to Him and give our heart and our life to Him, He will change us, help us and give us eternal life.

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. When we believe in Him, repent of our sins and ask Him to save us, we will have eternal life.

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Come to Him today. Let Him help you.

Maybe we are saved and we’ve been a Christian for years, but our life doesn’t seem to be changing; it’s in constant turmoil. Jesus wants us to also come to Him and talk to Him about these things, so that He may be able to help us make the changes we need to make and take the steps that will get us free from the things that are holding us down.

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV) 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-30-15

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) 18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride is something we all wrestle with in one way or another.

Some types of pride can be easy to spot. But other types can be more subtle and harder to pinpoint.

Either way, contrary to what the world teaches us, pride isn’t good and can destroy us if we don’t recognize it and deal with it.

This isn’t meant to beat anyone down for being prideful. Like we already mentioned, we all wrestle with it to some degree at some point in our lives.

But sometimes we need a gentle reminder to cause us to check ourselves and see where we’re really at.

Pride is sneaky and can creep up on us without us really seeing it for what it is until it’s too late. And sometimes we do see it, but don’t think it’s a big deal.

But it is a big deal! No matter how small it may seem, we need to see it and take care of it.

Pride really does lead to destruction. We’ve seen it and we’ve experienced it firsthand.

Sincerely, genuinely ask God to show us where pride might be rooted in us. And then ask Him to uproot it and get rid of it.

We might not like how it feels at first, but letting God take it voluntarily hurts a lot less than letting it stay and then destroying us sometime down the road.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-29-15

Luke 10:19 (NKJV) 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

What is our enemy, the devil, trying to do to us? Is he trying to take our job, our finances, our home, our spouse? Or is he trying break up our family?

Is he trying to scare us into not making our next move?

Are we a smoker or an alcoholic and we’re having trouble quitting? Are we addicted to porn and just can’t seem to break free of it?

Oh, he’s a liar and he tries to tell us we are not strong enough, or that we don’t have what it takes, we’re not good enough, or smart enough. He even tries to make us believe there is NO deliverance and no healing for us.

Whatever it may be today, we need to shut him up with the promises of God’s word, and walk in the authority that Christ gave us. We need to trample on him and his stupidity, in the name of Jesus Christ!

Not everyone can walk in this authority. Only those who are God’s children, those who trust in Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior, the Son of the living God, our Messiah!

We need to stop buying the lies that we are the tail and not the head. For God has given us what it takes to be the HEAD!!

Deuteronomy 28:13 (NKJV) 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.

Now if we heed this verse, we will notice that there is an IF. There is a condition that needs to be met. If we heed and observe His commandments, we will be the head, and we will be above and not beneath.

There are 3 things we need to do to be the head, to be above, and to walk in God’s authority.

1. Put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
2. Heed or pay close attention to His commandments, by reading and praying.
3. Carefully observe them and walk in the authority that Christ gave us.

Take one day at a time, break loose from the chains and move FORWARD!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-28-15

Psalm 107:20 (NKJV) 20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.

God’s word brings healing, and deliverance from destruction.

When we are living in His word, we will find that is when we are at our strongest.

His word feeds us, nourishes us and brings strength and wisdom in all that we do.

Take His Word to heart today. It will change our lives if we let it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-27-15

Psalm 32:7 (NKJV)7 You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.

What is the first thing we tend to do when we do something wrong and we know there will be repercussions from it? From the very beginning of man’s existence, right up until today, when we do something wrong our first reaction is to run and hide.

Genesis 3:8 (NKJV) 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

They knew they had disobeyed God, and their reaction was to hide from Him.

How many of us have done things wrong and are still running and hiding from God?

We can run but we can’t hide. He sees the things we do right and the things we do wrong. Our so-called little hidden secrets are out in the open with Him, whether we like it or not.

Don’t be desensitized into thinking that it’s OK to continue in these things that are against God’s word, just because other Christians or other people do it and seem to get away with it. We are responsible for our own actions and we will have to answer for them.

Let’s make a decision in our hearts today to stop running and hiding from God. Instead hide in Him! Face the problem and let God help us change it.

In Him there is deliverance!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-26-15

John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

You will have tribulations. Not exactly the kind of words we like to hear, are they?

Those words aren’t what we would call encouraging. But wait!

Jesus followed those words up with some encouraging words of hope that should give us comfort.

“Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”.

These days we might not use the expression “be of good cheer” very often, but we might say “take heart” or “cheer up”.

Jesus wanted us to know that despite the trials and tribulations that come our way, we don’t have to be down or depressed about them. He has overcome the world and conquered everything about it, including death and the grave.

Sometimes the things we go through can make us feel like our heart is being ripped out. We’re human and we hurt because of the trials we face.

Some days we may feel like crying, and that’s OK! During these past two years we have gone through some terrible trials. And there were days when we would lay on the floor and cry. We knew we had tough decisions to make and we wanted to make the choice that would please God, not man.

Some days we would wrestle with these choices and decisions and it seemed like the end of that dark time would never come. But we had faith in our God and we trusted Him. And eventually the breakthrough came, and the trials slowly came to an end.

God came through, as He always does. And, not surprisingly, the way He came through was nothing like what we had pictured or thought of in our own minds.

And He will come through for you, too. This time of trouble that you’re facing isn’t forever. Seasons come and go, and so will this trial go in due season.

So take heart, cheer up and trust in God. He is faithful and more than able to do what needs to be done for you in your situation.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-24-15

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We can ask God for wisdom today and He gives it to us liberally and without reproach, meaning He gives it freely; it doesn’t cost us anything. The only thing we have to do is acknowledge the fact that we need it, and ask Him for it.

It’s sad that He is so willing to offer it to us, but yet we don’t think at times to ask. It could save us a lot of problems, if we would just ask.

Some of us have a hard time asking God for anything, for whatever reason. Maybe we don’t want to ask Him because we feel that we have everything we need and we know their are others who are worse off, and we feel funny asking God for certain things.

It’s good that we are compassionate, caring and put others before ourselves; that’s a good quality to have. But there comes a time when we have to ask God for things for ourselves as well, and not feel guilty about it or feel like we are being ungrateful or greedy, etc.

God wants us to ask Him for things and not be shy about it. Take a step today and ask God for the things we need; maybe it’s wisdom today, but maybe tomorrow it’s something else. It doesn’t have to be a need, it could be a desire. Either way, ask Him.

Matthew 7:8 (NKJV) 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-23-15

Romans 8:1 (NKJV) 8 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

No condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

We hear this preached and taught a lot. And it is a true word.

Unfortunately, most of the time that we hear it taught, we only hear the first half of it, and not the second half. The second half is what makes the first half complete!

This is a hard thing to teach because we have had it drilled into us for so long with just the first half. But God’s word is His word, and it can’t be taken in part or by what makes us feel good.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the spirit!

Our faith needs to have action behind it! It is our faith that saves us, but it is our action that proves that we have faith.

As we put our hope and trust in Christ, our actions need to follow suit and the ways of the flesh need to be laid aside. We need to learn to live and walk by the Spirit.

This doesn’t happen overnight. God is merciful and His grace is sufficient as we hash this out in our daily lives. We stumble and fall many times and we might sometimes even question if we’re really saved.

But if we persevere and press in to God, He will light our path and guide our steps. And in time, if we don’t give up, we will see ourselves changing. And when that happens, we will no longer walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Don’t give up! Stick with it and let God guide you. In time, it will all come together.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-22-15

John 14:23(NKJV) 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

We can tell God we love Him as much as we want, but if we don’t show Him by following through and walking His word out, then it is all simply words with no actions. It says in James 1:22 (NKJV) 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Are we being deceived today by thinking everything is fine and dandy in our walk with Christ? Do we continue to listen to the word, but not do anything about it? Do we fail to let it change us or our situation?

When we fall in love with Jesus it will cause us to want to keep His word. Will we be perfect at it? No. But we can’t let that stop us from trying until we get it right.

None of us are perfect at it, but the important thing is we keep on trying.

We know that Jesus loves us no matter what, but He wants to make His home in us.

Keep His word today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-21-15

James 1:2-3 (NKJV) 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. If we are going through a trial right now, let’s be honest; it’s probably not feeling very JOYFUL is it?

JOY is probably the last thing we are thinking about. It’s more like “how will we get through this time?  How will it end up? What will we lose? Will it be something we’ve worked so hard to keep? Will we be able to make up for the loss, etc.?”.

When going through a trial, most times we feel more scared than joyful. Our first reaction is almost always to fret.

In order to change that reaction, we have to know what the word of God says and then we have to hold it dear to our hearts every time fear starts to come in.

Let’s stop fretting and start having the faith we need to get through this trial. Starting right now we are going to remind ourselves that everything under Heaven belongs to God, according to Job 41:11 (NKJV) 11 Who has preceded Me, that I should pay him? Everything under heaven is Mine.

It all belongs to God. We don’t need to get upset, or be anxious about it, but trust that however it turns out will be the way He wants it to be. There is no one like our ROCK, our FORTRESS, our DELIVERER. He is our STRENGTH!!

Psalm 18:2 (NKJV) 2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Remind ourselves that God has the final say in all matters. Everything belongs to Him. Put our trust in Him today and wait on Him.

The trial we are in today will not last forever and when we come out of it, we will have produced patience, and patience is good!

James 1:4 (NKJV) 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-20-15

Galatians 3:28 (NKJV) 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

There is neither Jew nor Greek.

This is straight from the word of God. This is not something made up by man centuries after Christ walked the earth.

So let’s move forward 2,000 years and apply this to us today.

There is neither Baptist, nor Catholic, nor Lutheran, nor Methodist, nor Episcopalian, nor Assemblies of God, nor Church of God, nor any other denomination you could name.

There are followers of Christ. The end.

I’m going to risk stepping on some toes today, but sometimes things need to be said. Our toes will heal if we let them.

As children of God, we need to learn to set aside and tear down the boundaries and walls that man has created with denominations. Denominations are not of God. They are 100% manmade.

This doesn’t mean that you have to leave your denominational church. But it does mean that we need to lay aside denominational thinking and stop letting these manmade walls divide us as believers.

We also need to lay aside some of the things that are passed down to us from our denominations that cause us to look down on others, judging them without cause.

Remember, our goal should be to bring people to Christ, not just to our church or our denomination!

As we bring people to Christ, He works in their hearts and He does a work in their lives. In the end, we need to make sure we’re pointing people to The Way, The Truth and The Life.

Reach out to someone today, and offer them Jesus!
