Bible Verse of The Day – 1-31-22

Genesis 12:1 (NKJV) 1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.

Go to a land that I will show you.

These are the only words that God offered Abram (Abraham) when He told him to leave his family and his father.

Abraham wasn’t given the benefit of even knowing where he was headed. He had to trust God 100% as he packed his belongings and left.

This is one of the best examples in the entirety of God’s word when it comes to trusting God solely based on His word.

It’s critical that we understand the weight of what God told Abraham, particularly the words, “a land that I will show you”.

Can we truly understand the faith that it took for Abraham to obey God in this?

Let’s put ourselves in Abraham’s shoes and see if we can even begin to figure out how we might respond to this kind of command from God.

Do we think that we would just jump right up and head out immediately, with no thought to what it really means for our lives? Or would we hesitate, understanding the depth of it all, understanding that we don’t even know where it is that we’re headed to?

It’s pretty safe to say that most of us would fall into the latter category, flinching terribly at what we’re being told to do.

This is a great litmus test for our faith in God. It’s a good gauge that can show us the true level of trust we have in Him, the God who created us and everything we see around us.

Let’s sincerely endeavor to press firmly in to Him, learning more of Him, so our faith and trust reach new levels, allowing us to make decisions and choices of great depth without anguishing greatly over them in the process.

None of us will ever get this perfect. But the time we spend in His word, and time spent communing with Him will help us greatly mature in these areas.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-29-22

Psalm 51:1 (NKJV) 1 Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions.

Sometimes all we want is another chance to make things right. An opportunity to fix what we did wrong.

We just want God to forget about the wrong thing we did; wipe it away like it never happened so we can start over again.

Isn’t that all we want when we know that we have done something wrong?

It’s hard to live with some of the choices we have made. Especially when we knew better and just fell to temptation.

But what’s incredible about God in His love and mercy toward us is His forgiveness.

On our end, though, we need to repent and sincerely mean it. And we need to make an honest effort to do better the next time around. Don’t go back to our wrongdoing.

That is what believers live for; to obey God and get it right.

We are never going to be perfect here on earth. But working to get it right and be the person God intends for us to be is our daily fight.

We will have good days and think, “wow, this is easy!”.  But even as a mature believer we will have hard days, where we will question and ask ourselves, “why did I just do that? I knew better”.

We have all been there from time to time. Thank God that because of His mercy and lovingkindness, He will blot out our transgressions.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-28-22

Psalm 119:93 (NKJV) 93 I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have given me life.

Our walk with God is a walk of faith. We put our faith in Him, and He changes our hearts, a little at a time. His desires become our desires.

He does this by teaching us His ways, His precepts.

Those precepts, if we allow them to, will penetrate us. And by doing so, they change the way we see, the way we think and the way we act.

They make us a new creation by way of transformation.

Putting our faith in Christ makes us a new creation by way of washing us clean of our sins. This is the redemptive work accomplished by the blood of Christ.

It is the subsequent adopting of God’s precepts in our lives that then begins a transformative work that alters our lifestyle as He uses those precepts (principles) to teach us His ways.

The cumulative effect of learning and adopting those precepts is what makes us who God wants us to become.

Why? Because as we allow God’s principles of truth to change our heart, we will begin to put the desires of God before our own desires. This is the bedrock (foundation) of growing and maturing as a believer.

Some may argue that precepts are nothing more than principles that are based on works. This is true only if those precepts are walked out in rote or as part of rituals.

But if we genuinely live them out in our lives because we understand their importance, and because we desire to please God, they will no longer be just works-based principles.

They will be like little pieces of roots that dig deeper and deeper into the earth, drawing our sustenance from God and His word, strengthening us so that not even the most brutal of life’s storms will be able to uproot us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-27-22

Mark 6:32 (NKJV) 32 So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.

Rest and quiet time are needed more than we realize.

The past few months for us have been crazy. We have been out straight physically and mentally.

During all of this, we have tried to reply to those that have written to check on us. But we might have missed someone along the way.

If we did, please accept our sincerest apologies. And thank you for checking in on us. We sincerely appreciate it.

We are beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel, and we are finally getting some good rest.

Knowing that it’s OK to rest has helped us to not feel guilty if we have needed to take a break.

You all have been so good to us, with your encouraging words, prayers and financial support. We are truly grateful for how God has provided for us through it all.

We want to say thank you, and also remind you to rest and break free at times as well.

Make this year the beginning of taking a rest from time to time, instead of pushing ourselves to the point of breaking. We need to remind ourselves to take a break to heal and rest from our hard work.

Break, depart, and get to a deserted place. It’s OK. It’s necessary!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-26-22

Galatians 5:9 (NKJV) 9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump.

These 7 words are very powerful, and they can apply to so many aspects of our lives.

Today we’ll be looking at them through the lens of God’s word, as believers, followers of Christ.

What is leaven? Leaven in this verse refers to yeast, as used in the making of bread.

Yeast is used to make bread rise. In beverages, it is used to cause fermentation in that drink.

Leaven permeates whatever it is used in.

Such is the case with sin, which is what leaven represents in the verse above. Paul was writing to warn the Galatians that even a little sin would permeate their walk with God and destroy it if left unchecked.

The Galatians had responded to the gospel of Christ enthusiastically, receiving it in faith, propelling them to grow as believers, walking out God’s word in their lives.

But outsiders who claimed to know Christ in His fulness had begun to teach the Galatians a false doctrine.

And that doctrine was eating away at their faith walk, causing them to stumble and abandon the truth.

Sin does the very same thing. Most times it sneaks in a little, tiny piece at a time. It is subtle; seemingly harmless. But its bite is lethal, slowly leading us to death if we don’t acknowledge it and deal with it.

Let’s root out the leaven (sin, ungodly influences or false teachings), before it’s too late and the whole lump (our walk with God) is permeated by it, killing it slowly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-25-22

Galatians 3:26-28 (NKJV) 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

We are all sons of God through our faith in Christ. This is so awesome! Just the phrase, “sons of God”, makes my heart leap.

And none of us are any more a son than another.

We are His sons and we are loved and cared for by Him all the same. His love towards you is the same as His love towards me.

What a wonderful thing to be called; His sons!

He doesn’t look at us any other way. He does not have any favorites. WE are all His “favorite”!

It does not matter where we have been or come from. It doesn’t matter about the things we have done before. We have given ourselves to Him. It is all forgotten as we repent and put our faith in HIs Son, Jesus Christ.

We have put on Christ.

We have much to rejoice about today! Together we stand as one in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-24-22

John 17:15-17 (NKJV) 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

Jesus came to us from another world.

Not another planet, but another world; the heavens, where He was with His Father since the beginning.

John 1:1-3 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Because Jesus was not of this world, as He stated in verse 16, at the beginning of this devotional, we are also not of this world if we belong to Him.

As believers, we inherit the heavenly characteristics of Jesus’ lineage.

This does not make us equal to Him. It does, however, mean that we share in part of His mission and His purpose in life; to share the love and light of God with a lost and dying world.

As part of that heavenly assignment, it’s important to realize that we are not of this world. We do not belong to this world, its ways or those who live out those ways.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

We are to live and walk differently. We do not live or walk by the flesh, but by the Spirit of God. It is this that sets us apart from the world. And as we mature in Christ, we will begin to live differently, wanting to please God and glorify Him in our daily lives.

We are not here to despise those who walk according to the flesh, or to look down on them, but to shine God’s light for them to see. It is this light that is meant to draw them to God, as it shines through us in our everyday lives.

Let us work diligently each day to grow and mature in Christ, endeavoring to let God’s light shine more brightly to those around us, that we may show that we are truly not of this world but of the world that is unseen.

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the mighty name of Jesus!

Have you ever had to wait on God for something?

We all have. And it’s not usually our favorite part of our walk with God.

In today’s video, “When, God, When?”, we teach about the importance of waiting on God, and how learning to wait on Him properly helps Him move on our behalf.

We hope you enjoy it and that it brings some understanding to this aspect of walking with God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-22-22

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

We are in unknown territory. We don’t know what to expect. Phew… it’s challenging. It is causing us to trust God in a whole new way.

As you may know, we recently moved. And it was a big move!

Most of our old routines are gone. We are starting from scratch, you could say.

Even where I would pray in the morning has changed.

Everything we were so used to is gone. Nothing is in its usual place, if you know what we mean.

It’s not anything that any one person can help with. It hits everyone differently. But one thing we have in common is that change is change!

If it is change that God has brought, we either go with it or we stop moving forward.

God will bring change to us in different ways at different times. Some changes aren’t that hard and we enjoy them. We welcome then with open arms.

Some are changes that will cause us to feel like we cannot do it. Those changes will make us or break us. We will either go the full distances or faint on the way.

But, on this journey I have learned not to faint or be ashamed if you feel you can’t do it on your own, because those are the moments we make a very difficult choice; a choice to let go of what we know and lean on Him.

He will give us things at times that are impossible for us in our human strength to do or to bear.

But He does not want us to do it on our own. In fact, we can’t do it on our own.

What are you doing today that requires you to have God’s strength, wisdom, and joy to fulfill His plan in your life?

Don’t get down on yourself because you don’t have what it takes. Reach out for His hand. He planned it, He has the answers.

Isaiah 40:28 (NKJV) 28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-21-22

Isaiah 46:8-10 (NKJV) 8 “Remember this, and show yourselves men; Recall to mind, O you transgressors. 9 Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’

God’s sovereignty is above all else. There is nothing and nobody like Him, anywhere.

He rules and reigns over the earth and the galaxies that are even too far away to be seen by our eyes.

These verses were issued as a reminder of who God is.

In verse 10, the phrase, “show yourselves men”, literally means, “be men, take courage”.

This says a lot to us, reminiscent of the words in Joshua 1:9, where God said to “be strong and of good courage”.

God is speaking to us as we walk through this current season of incredible evil that we’re witnessing.

He is reminding us that we have nothing to fear. He is God. There is none like Him. He declares the end from the beginning, even those things that are not yet done.

His counsel will stand, and He will do all He has determined to do.

Tyranny will not win. Evil will not prevail, regardless of what we’re seeing with our natural eyes.

There is no one who can touch our God. His word stands true even in the midst of chaos, darkness and whatever else the enemy and his allies try to put together and throw at us.

The rest is up to us.

Will we trust Him in the face of adversity? Will we stand firm in our faith, not backing down when that same faith is tested, even under extreme duress?

This is not the season to run, nor to hide.

God is God. Trust Him.
