Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-20

1 Samuel 17:37 (NKJV) 37 Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”

What is very important to notice here is that David did not see any difference in the size or fierceness of the enemy he faced. He knew that the Lord would deliver him, no matter what, whether it was the paw of a lion, the paw of a bear, or a huge giant.

They all looked the same in his eyes. They were going down, with the Lord on His side!

What paw or giant do we face today? A financial crisis, a marriage crisis, a rebellious child, an addiction to lust or drugs, etc.? Do we face health problems, or are we maybe dealing with bullies?

The Lord will deliver us from the thing that stands in front of us as we put our trust in Him and we don’t back down.

David saw what God could do, and He knew there wasn’t anything that He couldn’t deliver him from.

Remember the things God has delivered us from, and don’t think He won’t do it again.

He doesn’t just deliver us once and tell us we’ve reached our quota. No. God is faithful whenever we call His name.

Psalm 34:17 (NKJV) 17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-30-20

Psalm 27:13 (NKJV) 13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

The goodness of God. If we were to think and ponder on our lives, we would have to admit that it’s the goodness of God that keeps us going.

It’s the grace and mercy of God that have rescued us from ourselves.

It’s the hand of God on our lives that has pulled us from the pits of darkness; depression, suicide, debauchery, loneliness, lying, stealing, adultery, homosexuality, drunkenness, addictions and so much more.

He has rescued us all from something.

Maybe some of us have testimonies that are more dramatic than others.

Maybe some of us have led seemingly-ordinary lives with no major crises or anything terribly traumatic.

Either way, though, the goodness of God has played a major part in shaping our lives and bringing us to where we are right now, at this very moment in time.

Knowing that should cause each of us to ponder on God’s goodness and thank Him, not only for what He’s done for us, but most importantly for who He is.

For without Him, we would all be living lives that would be drastically different than they are now.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-29-20

1 Kings 3:9 (NKJV) 9 Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

A servant’s heart needs to be an understanding heart.

To have an understanding heart we have to be willing to listen to God and to others. We have to listen a lot and not be selective, but pay attention to what is being said.

If we only listen to those things that tickle our ears or sound pretty, then we really aren’t going to get much out of it.

If we only listen to those people that agree with us on everything, then we will never learn or be challenged to research or dig in and find the truth in certain subjects.

We should be able to listen to people, whether we agree with them or not.

It doesn’t mean we automatically take what they are saying as truth. But we listen and discern. This will help us to get understanding and see where they are coming from.

We’ve got to have patience and listen if we want our understanding to be at its best.

If we want to help others or get help for ourselves, we have to be willing to listen. We can’t be the one that likes to run away when we hear anything other than what we want to hear.

We are not runners. We stand on the truth, and we help others at times to stand too.

Even though there will be many times in our lives when we don’t agree with people, we should, as children of God, be able to have a civilized conversation with them.

We shouldn’t be rude, arrogant, impatient or lacking compassion.

We should, in fact, be the opposite, showing sincerity of heart and wanting to understand.

That doesn’t mean we can’t stand up for ourselves at times if we don’t agree with what we are hearing.

It just means that we need to hear them out and let the Holy Spirit lead us, so we can be as wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove.

Matthew 10:16 (NKJV) 16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-28-20

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV) 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

Want to know what one of the biggest problems is with humanity when it comes to our walk with God?

It’s waiting for God to do what He needs to do in order to accomplish His end goals.

Oh, how we squirm, object, holler and throw tantrums when we have to wait on Him!

But if we learn to wait on Him, after a while we will see that He works it all out, and it’s beautiful in the end.

How He does this can’t always be explained. He just does it.

It’s not the “how” that’s important. It’s the doing. And God’s specialty is doing.

Oh, and for His timing? It’s never, ever wrong.

Be still. Wait. And trust.

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-26-20

Psalm 91:1 (NKJV) 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

We have to have a place where we can go and get away from all the noise. A place where we can be alone with the Most High God.

Some people never get there. Because of this, the noise will keep them doing nothing. It will keep them going in circles.

God’s children need to be focused and aware of their surroundings.

We don’t just casually move through each day. We move through each day with purpose.

Where does this purpose come from?

It comes from being in the secret place of the Most High. In the presence of the Lord is where we will get our purpose, direction, and understanding.

What is that purpose? It’s the purpose to worship and praise God. The purpose to put Him first. The purpose to pray. The purpose to love others, and the purpose to give.

Someone may say, “well, that’s a lot of purposing”. Yes, it is!  But remember Who lives in us. He gives us what we need, so we can do what we need to do.

God is faithful.

Isaiah 50:7 (NKJV) 7 “For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.

Get away from the noise. Find Him in that secret place and get purpose back in our walk. Set ourselves like a flint and go.

Don’t look back.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-25-20

2 Corinthians 13:14 (NKJV) 14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

Today is the day we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

It is a sacred celebration whereby we give honor to the One who saved us from our sins when we put our faith in Him.

We may celebrate it with varying levels of fanfare, or maybe even in different ways. And the day itself is not what we celebrate, but our Savior, Jesus, who gave His all for us.

So, we urge you to enjoy the day. Take joy in what it means, what it signifies and how Jesus has saved you, changed you and made your life worth living, no matter what you have faced or might be facing now.

We love you all.

And may grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion (fellowship) of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

Enjoy your day!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-24-20

John 10:14-15 (NKJV) 14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

Jesus refers to Himself as the Good Shepherd!

He reminds us that He knows His sheep, which are those who have put their faith and trust in Him.

But He also says He is known by His own. In other words, His children (sheep) know Him. That’s you and I.

If we don’t know Him in the place where we are right now, we’d better move toward getting to know Him.

We’d better be asking Him, “What move do we need to make to get there?”.

Everyone is different.

Some need to understand that they have turned away from Him through different changes and situations that have taken place in their life.

Some have never been close. They gave their life to Christ the Good Shepherd, but have never allowed His Spirit, to change them, teach them, or draw them closer and deeper to their Savior.

Some may have started changing immediately after they put their faith in Him, but got bored, lost interest, and dried up. Now, they found a new something that has taken the place of Christ.

There are many other reasons. These are just a few.

He says He laid down His life for us. Everything He was, He gave up for us. Nothing will ever compare to that.

What will we lay down for Him?

Will we at least desire and make an effort to know Him?

It’s all up to us.

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Bible Verse of the Day – 12-23-20

Job 28:20 (NKJV) 20 “From where then does wisdom come? And where is the place of understanding?

God’s word tells us over and over again how important wisdom and understanding are. Godly wisdom and spiritual understanding go hand in hand. And, if we let them, they will guide our steps, making sure we don’t get off track.

We teach pretty frequently on getting wisdom and understanding because God has shown us the importance of both of these things over the years.

With them, we flourish. Without them, we wither and die, or spend our lives floundering, going from one crisis to another.

The book of Proverbs speaks repeatedly about this, telling us to get wisdom, get understanding.

But here in the book of Job we see some of the most clear-cut, precise information given about what this really means.

As Job endured his ailments brought on by satan, he pondered on many things. His discourses were quite interesting as he pondered on many aspects of life and even expressed his anger and frustration with God for not preventing the affliction that he was experiencing.

Here in chapter 28, he spoke at length about wisdom and understanding, then finally he referred to God and summed it up with this:

Job 28:28 (NKJV) 28 And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.’ ”

Many people don’t fully understand the phrase, “the fear of the Lord”. Some would even say that God is not to be feared because He is love. But God’s word, in multiple places, says otherwise.

Job’s summary says it directly, though, stating that “the fear of the Lord is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding”.

When we fear God, we have wisdom. We have reached a point where we see the merits and the truth of what His word says about fearing Him.

And departing from evil is understanding. Because once we have godly understanding (understanding inspired by and given by God), we will no longer want to participate in evil. We will have, in fact, learned to run far from evil, running instead, toward God.

If you’d like to learn more about “the fear of the Lord”, you may want to watch a video we created last year. You can watch that video by clicking here.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-22-20

1 Samuel 16:1 (NKJV) 1 Now the Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.”

When God brings a change to a situation, we need to move with it.

He’s merciful and compassionate and gives us time to mourn over the loss or sacrifice, but the time comes when we need to get up and move forward.

I believe God is saying to someone today, get up, fill your horn with oil and go.

Saul’s day as king was done. He had been rejected because he disobeyed God. But God had already provided for a new king. His name was David.

Samuel was being sent to Jesse, David’s father, to anoint David as the next king.

There came David, a shepherd, to be anointed as king.

Just as God had seen the disobedience in Saul, and took action to provide the next king (a man after His own heart), He will also provide for us in advance for the things that need to change.

1 Samuel 13:14 (NKJV) 14 But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.”

Samuel mourned for Saul. But God said, let’s move on, I have provision. Let’s go get him.

Are we still holding on to things and mourning over them when we should be moving on?

I’m talking about jobs, friends, relationships, positions or success, etc

We don’t live life in the past. We live life today and into our tomorrows.

Good memories are nice to have, wonderful to remember, look at and reminisce over.

We can hold them dear to our hearts. But we must know that they are now memories. They are of the past, and we need to move on into the future, the new day with new things that God will usher in.

So, what will we do?

Will we stop mourning over what was, and enter into what is? Will we move forward toward what God has made provision for in a big way?

He will fill the emptiness. He will bring comfort. And He will heal as we go forward.

Let’s move on today, even if it is only one little step forward. Even that little step is forward motion.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-21-20

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

This is a very well-known quote from Jesus that is frequently used when people are discussing freedom. It is used to convey a message of hope, promising freedom from addictions, freedom from oppression, freedom from depression, etc.

And this is all true. Jesus can set us free from all of those things and so much more!

In one of our recent videos, “The Click”, we talked about this from a couple of different angles.

We talked first about getting understanding from God, and the fact that many times it’s like something “just clicks” and we begin to understand things that we previously had no understanding in.

Then we went on to discuss the importance of being willing to embrace truth if we truly want to be set free.

In fact, we cannot be set free by truth unless we are willing to embrace it. And here’s why.

Truth is truth. No matter how many different ways we try to look at it or spin it, that doesn’t stop it from being truth.

And truth is something that can be hard for many of us to face, because it forces us to look at ourselves and face who we really are. Other times it can force us to face the reality of a situation.

Sometimes that can really hurt.

Nonetheless, truth is still truth. And it’s only the embracing of that truth that will allow us to be set free from the things that bind us and hold us as slaves to them.

Are we facing truth today that we’re maybe not willing to face head-on? Are we standing face to face with ourselves or a situation, and we just want to run away and hope it doesn’t follow us?

It’s time to stop running. Time to turn and face it. Time to let truth speak to us, and then to embrace and follow that truth so we can be set free once and for all from the things that have haunted us, imprisoned us, taunted us and kept us in chains for so long.

We need to stand before God today, right now, and let Him show us the truth, and let Him set us free as we embrace that truth without fear, trusting that God will be merciful and graceful to us.

Lay it down before Him today. Amen.

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
