Bible Verse of The Day – 9-30-15

Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Today, we want to encourage you!

So many of us have faced battles. We’ve walked through storms. We’ve made tough decisions.

Some of our choices and decisions have been good ones, while others might not have been so good. And maybe we’re reaping from some of those bad choices. It happens to all of us at some point in our lives.

And when it does happen, it can be devastating. And we can question God’s love for us in light of the things we might have said or done.

But here is hope for you. Here is truth that will set things straight and set your heart and mind at ease.

There is nothing that we can do that can separate us from the love of God.

It doesn’t matter how deep we’ve sunk. It doesn’t matter how terrible our choices have been or how bad our actions might seem.

God. Will. Never. Stop. Loving. Us.

His word promises this and He isn’t a man that can lie.

So rest today in knowing this. Repent from your choices and run into His arms, where He is waiting for you with them wide open.

Know today, that beyond anything else, you are loved beyond measure.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-29-15

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Giving is the answer to a lot of our problems today.

There are so many problems with finances in this world. People struggle every day.

We know from firsthand experience that as we give it comes back, just as God promises us it will.

We teach on giving, not so we can become rich, but so that you may receive all that God has for you.

So many people struggle with giving; there’s no doubt about this. We hear about the struggles and we see it all around us.

Why? Because it’s a normal instinct to want to keep what we work hard for. It’s normal to want to get ahead and put some away. But what we lack in knowing is that God’s word promises us that if we give to Him first, all these things will be taken care of.

What destroys people is a lack of knowing the important things that God wants to help us with; a lack of knowing God’s way of doing things, following them and then receiving His promises.

Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

Let us not be destroyed by rejecting the simple truths of God’s word. Let us take action and do what is right.

Give today and watch it come back, pressed down, shaken together and running over! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-15

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Sometimes we need to just pull back, sit tight and do nothing. I know this sounds easy, right? But waiting is not easy. We are still doing something.

Sometimes it is the hardest “nothing” to do, especially if we have determination to want to fix things. Waiting can drive us crazy.

But it takes discipline and obedience to wait.

There will be times that God will say “WAIT! I’ve got it and I want to do it for you”.

One day I sat in my garage. I was having a hot flash, and was trying to cool off. We were getting ready to sell our home and move. It wasn’t what we wanted to do, but we thought it was the logical thing to do.

We were willing and ready. We had sold most all of our furniture. Everything had been set in motion. We prayed, we cried, we talked about this very thing several times to make sure it was what we needed to do. The steps were taken and the decision had been made.

As I sat there cooling off, I heard God’s voice out of nowhere. I wasn’t thinking about much at this time. I heard these words, “Won’t you let me help you? I want to do this for you”.

My response to this was, “but we’ve already made arrangements. The house is on the market and we are locked into an agreement. The place where we will be moving to soon, we’ve also signed an agreement with those people.” All He said was, “they will understand. Talk to them.”

I went back into the house, knowing I had to talk to my husband about what I had just heard. I thought “he is going to think I’m nuts”. We had been over and over this. I mean, selling the house and moving was the logical thing to do.

So I quietly shared my conversation that I had out in the garage, telling him all about it. He calmly said to me, “OK, let’s call the realtors first thing tomorrow”.

Years later, we are still here. All we can say is, it was God!

For us it was our home, but for you it may be something else. God wants to help us all. There will be times when we need to take action and do the logical thing. But then there will be times where we just need to wait and trust Him.

Will we wait on Him?

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-26-15

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.

There are so many things that can occupy our thoughts.

We can spend so much time pondering and thinking about things; some good, and some not so good.

God wants us to spend our time thinking about, meditating on and pondering on the things that are good, virtuous, and pure.

As we do this, instead of thinking about all of the negative stuff in the world, it will help change our outlook on life and our view of our own situation.

It will also help boost our faith, as we feed on God’s words and cast off the words of the enemy.

God has good things for us. He doesn’t want us to spend our time focused on things that aren’t fruitful!

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

So let’s ditch the negative stuff and focus on the things and the thoughts of God and His word.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-25-14

Ephesians 6:10 (NKJV) 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Every week we receive emails, and sometimes phone calls, from people who are struggling or going through trials and tough times.

And although we are pastors, and we teach God’s word and encourage people on a daily basis, we are not immune to some of those same trials. We all face things from time to time that try to knock us down and keep us from moving forward with God.

It’s because we have also gone through trials that we have learned how to press in to God and be strong in Him when our own strength seems spent. It’s because we have gone through hard times in many different ways that we can empathize with all of you and relate to where you’re at, and offer counsel based on our own experiences.

And it’s because we have walked through these hard times and come through them victoriously that we can tell all of you to be strong in Him and in His might.

You see, when we have been knocked down and our face is in the dirt, it’s then that we need to realize that God is the one who gives us what we need to push through and keep going.

Our own strength is limited and will run out after a while. But His strength will never fail us. He will never abandon us or leave us to wither and die.

It’s when we’re at our weakest that we need to look up and reach out to Him and grab hold of Him with everything in us, and draw our strength from Him.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness”…

It’s when we’re at our weakest that His strength shines, if we let it!

So we encourage you, no matter where you’re at right now, in this moment, to hold fast to your faith, and never let go.

Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV) 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Maybe we can’t do this. At least not on our own. But we can do it with God’s help, if we don’t let go of our faith.

Let’s hold fast to our faith!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-24-15

Matthew 6:25-27 (NKJV) 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Say No to the “worries”!

OK, tell my head that. I know how it is. I can wake up, and before I even put my feet on the floor my head starts in. It can be a very hard thing to overcome.

How do we shut down the mind?

Worrying does us no good. My dad said to me the other day, “worrying doesn’t help anything or anyone.”

We don’t get answers when we worry. We don’t solve problems when we worry. We don’t change things by worrying. All it is is a big FAT distraction that paralyzes us and prevents us from doing the very thing we need to be doing.

Worrying is exhausting and can cause us to become sick. it can ruin relationships and do a lot of damage.

So today is a new day. For those that have a worrying head, we are going to do something different.

We are going to look beyond our situation today and not even give it a thought. Nope, when the “worries” pop into our heads, we are going to turn our thoughts to God and say, “you told me not to worry, so I’m going to listen to you today. I’m going to trust that YOU’VE got this”.

Then we are going to move on and continue our day, doing what we know needs to get done and thanking Him for taking care of it.

Continue to repeat these steps every time the “worries” come.

After awhile it does get easier; we get stronger, things change more quickly and answers come sooner. It becomes part of us and we live a “worry-less” life!

Just what God intended for us!

EnJOY your day!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-23-15

James 4:14 (NKJV) 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Life is precious and fragile.

God has put each of us here for a purpose. One that’s unique to us. And He has created each one of us uniquely, to fulfill that purpose while we’re here on earth.

We can get sidetracked with so many things in the world. We face struggles and trials. We get knocked down and, with God’s help, we get back up again. There are times when those trials and struggles can try to choke the life out of us.

It can be hard sometimes to keep our focus on where it needs to be. Because when we’re in the midst of the storm, all we can think of is how we’re going to come out of it safely and with everything still intact.

But during those storms, that’s when we need to adjust our focus and make sure our eyes are on God, our refuge and sustainer, not on the obstacle in front of us.

Most of the time we’re so busy trying to hold onto the things that we think we’re in jeopardy of losing, we forget to hold onto God. But if we hold onto God and trust Him with our situation, He will protect us and bring us through safely.

It may not always mean that we get to keep our possessions that we were fighting so hard to hold onto, but in the end, those possessions are just “stuff”. When we’ve lived our lives and we take our last breath, that stuff will get left behind anyway.

No, God doesn’t mind if we have earthly possessions. But if letting go of them is what’s required in order to hold onto God and survive the storm, then so be it. Let’s let go and stay alive!

Trust Him, people of God. For He is our source, not the things that we sometimes hold so tightly to.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-22-15

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Most of us have heard this verse and have heard it taught on many times. And rightly so, since it’s very important.

Let’s take an even deeper look at it in today’s devotional, that will hopefully shed some new light on how important it really is to understand this one and apply it to our lives.

You see, putting God first should never be considered optional. In reality it is optional, because He gives us a free will and the ability to choose. But if we want to see our life change and be walking on the path that God has for us, we can no longer consider it to be such.

As we seek God, and I mean really pursue Him, it will ultimately change everything about our outlook on life. We will begin to see things differently. And the things that we used to think were so important will start to fade into the background as He shapes and molds us.

We will learn how to be content, no matter the situation. We will learn when to be silent when we always thought we had to speak and say our piece. We will learn that putting others first isn’t such a bad idea, as we learn to show others God through our actions. Having the last word won’t be as important as it used to be.

Our perspective will change.

And as our perspective changes, we will have a new understanding of things that once baffled or confounded us. Because now we are seeing them through the eyes of the Holy Spirit, and not our own natural eyes.

So let’s let God give us a new perspective. And see how quickly things begin to look different to us. And In this, all things will be added to us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-21-15

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Every day we make choices. Some of them are pretty easy to make, while others require considerable effort, thought and prayer.

The best choices are always made with wisdom. Choices and decisions that are made in haste, or without wisdom, will always lead to trouble.

But even when it comes to wisdom, there is a choice to make.

There is earthly wisdom and wisdom that comes from God. They can be vastly different. And earthly wisdom may not always coincide with the wisdom God gives.

You see, God’s wisdom will sometimes fly in the face of man’s wisdom. God’s wisdom sees things through spiritual eyes and eyes of faith, whereas man’s wisdom sees things only in the natural, and through eyes of intellect and logic.

It’s imperative that we learn the difference and learn to recognize God’s wisdom when making important decisions and choices.

So how do we get God’s wisdom and discern it from man’s wisdom?

Proverbs 2:6 (NKJV) 6 For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; and it will be given to him.

God’s wisdom is found in His word and it is shown to us through knowing His word and through the Holy Spirit.

So if we’re lacking God’s wisdom, we need to seek it. His word tells us to ask of Him and it will be given. And he gives it liberally and without reproach!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-19-15

Psalm 95:3 (NKJV) 3 For the Lord is the great God, And the great King above all gods.

God is above all things. He is great and mighty!

He will prevail over all things. Nothing that happens here on the earth catches Him off guard or takes Him by surprise.

Because of this, we have hope in Him and His promises.

No matter what we face in our lives, we can have hope because He is great and mighty. He is steadfast.. our solid rock.

He is our fortress, a safe place of refuge.

If you’re facing a trial or tribulation today, don’t give in to the temptation to run and hide or to give up your faith.

Stand firm. Do your best to look beyond your circumstance and look to Him for your answers. It’s not always easy, but we can have victory if we trust Him.

For He is the great God!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-18-15

Matthew 26:41(NKJV) 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Our flesh is weak!

That is why we fall into temptation at times. We can say we will never do it again, but we can’t make any promises. We can try our hardest, but if we don’t do what it takes to fix the problem it will rise again and again.

How does one take care of the problem? It’s called crucifying the flesh. This allows the spirit to lead.

Galatians 5:24(NKJV) 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

What does crucify mean? To put to death: to destroy the power of.

So, those things that we love to do that are not good for us? We need to allow Christ to destroy or take away our passion and desire for them.

We do this by watching and being alert to the things that try to pull on us. Then we ask God for help, to turn from them.

Watch, pray and WIN!

God has good things for us as we avoid the temptation of the flesh.
