Bible Verse of The Day – 6-30-18

Psalm 100:4 (NKJV) 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

Praise the Lord for He is good! Amen.

Ever feel like you are on top of the world, like you are in one of those seasons of your life where you are just so thankful for everything?

Or maybe you just realize how blessed you are. You look around and you see how far God has brought you.

How about when we are helping someone that is going through a lot and we realize, “WOW, and I thought I had it bad.”

Sometimes we can get so caught up in all our work and the busyness around us that we don’t stop to notice or enjoy the blessings in our lives.

While we were taking a walk today, we were talking and enjoying the time together outside. I was thinking about how blessed we are to be able to walk, talk, enjoy the outdoors and to have each other to share it with. Look how many blessings there are even in just taking a walk.

There are huge blessings all around us. It’s important that we take a few moments and embrace God and what He is doing in our lives. Thank Him and give Him praise!

We all have wonderful things in our lives that we can be thankful for. We just have to take the time to see them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-29-18

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

God created it! It was His design and His creation.

We don’t need to explore or entertain any other scientific ideas. We don’t need scientific proof. It is what it is right from the beginning. This world is God’s creation! If we want answers, we need to go to Him. Amen.

It’s a very beautiful creation at that. Some days as I work from my home, I sit outside in my back yard and just listen and look around. And I am always in awe of what I hear and see; amazing sights and sounds.

I wonder sometimes, if our job and our work wasn’t in the picture, would we be praising God more often than the norm?

I don’t like to take anything for granted, because I know that when God was creating this world, He was thinking of us.

So, enjoy what is around us. It is not there by mistake. It was done on purpose for each one of us!! Make it personal. God was thinking of you when He created the Heaven and the Earth!

He loves you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-18

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

When I was a young adult and I was first introduced to the truth of salvation in Christ, it didn’t take me long to know that I needed Christ and I needed forgiveness for my sins.

But there was this nagging little thing inside of me that kept me from doing something about it. I thought that I had to clean myself up first, and then I could approach God and ask Him to make me His.

That kept me from doing what I knew I needed to do for quite some time. I stayed lost and unforgiven until one day I just pushed it all aside and ran to God.

This is more common than most of us realize. Even believers tend to wrestle with this sometimes. We make a bad choice, or a series of them, and we think we have to hide from God, afraid of what He thinks or what He will say if we approach Him.

But here’s what we need to remember. Jesus didn’t come and die for the righteous. He came and died for the lost… the sinner.

Mark 2:17 (NKJV) 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Let’s be honest here. We don’t take one of our children who is well and healthy to the doctor. We take the one who is sick and in need of help.

So it is with us. We can’t hide ourselves away from God because we have done something wrong, committed sins that we think are too big for God to cleanse us from and forgive us for.

You see, once we go to Him, confess our sin and ask Him to forgive us, He forgives us. It’s that simple. There is no specific prayer we need to pray. There is no ritual we need to follow. There is not even a specific person we need to talk to about it.

We go directly to God and pour it out to Him. And do you know what happens when we do this? He forgives us. And that sin that we confessed to Him? He casts it far away from us. How far?

Psalm 103:12 (NKJV) 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Stop trying to clean yourself up before you go to God. Come as you are. Let Him do the cleanup. He is much better at it than we are.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-27-18

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Nowadays, everything is so fast paced. If we want a coffee or beverage we can go to the drive-through, and just like that our thirst is quenched. The same if we are hungry. Everything is instant.

Transferring money from one bank account to another is instant. We get ahold of people through text messages. We really don’t have to wait for anything. It’s all right there at our finger tips.

This has created a society of impatience. We don’t want to wait. Not even for the things that God has for us. We get into such a fast paced mode that if God takes too long, forget it, we will do it ourselves. Instead of waiting for our answer from God, we will go get it somewhere else.

A lot of leaders today are falling right into this kind of practice. They want everything now, with an attitude that says, “Why do we have to wait on God, we can manufacture it and the people will love it?”. Why? Because it is what they want too.

This is so dangerous. It’s so fake, artificial, and counterfeit. It won’t last long and it wont take long before we realize it doesn’t work.

Jesus says, my sheep hear my voice and follow.

John 10:27 (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

We can make all the excuses for participating in this type of behavior in our walk with God. But if we fall for it, we are responsible for how things turn out.

God knows whether we are truly seeking Him for His answer by avoiding all the fake, fancy, and pretty stuff and sticking with Him.

Those that wait on Him will renew their strength.

It’s our choice whether or not we mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, and we walk and not faint.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-26-18

Acts 13:22 (NKJV) 22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’

God said that David was a man after His own heart. This is a big deal!

Many may look at David and think that he was a spiritual superhero, a near-perfect man, a man with few or no flaws. Nothing could be further from the truth.

David was a man after God’s own heart. He loved God immensely and would do whatever God asked him to do. But David was also very human, with many flaws and shortcomings.

As a man after God’s heart, he longed to please God and do the right thing. But David made some very poor choices in his lifetime.

He had an adulterous affair and then had the husband of his mistress killed in battle. And if we were to read more about David, we would see that his sins wreaked havoc with his family and with the kingdom of Israel for years to come, trickling down to other generations.

But one thing stays very clear when we look at David’s life. He never strayed from his God. And he never followed or worshiped foreign gods or worthless idols.

Are we like David? Are we a man or woman after God’s own heart? Are we loyal to God through thick and thin? Do we hold fast to Him no matter what comes our way?

Or do we wander and stray from Him, following whatever or whomever blows in with the winds?

Our hearts say a lot about us. What’s in our heart eventually comes out. This makes it very important to surrender our hearts to God and let Him take the wheel, guiding us in the direction He wants us to go.

And even if we make some poor choices along the way, if we stay steadfast in our love for God, He will call us a man or woman after His own heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-25-18

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

God has told us that His strength is made perfect in weakness. Praise God…it’s made perfect!

He can turn our weakness around with His strength.

We need to recognize our weaknesses first, and instead of waiting to go to God until we get them right or fixed, we need to run to Him with them immediately.

Most times, our very weakness will keep us from going to Him. But it’s because of our weakness that we should go to Him.

We may try over and over again to make things right. It could take us some time and we may still never get it right, only to end up right where we started again.

Weakness can’t fix weakness. But strength can fix it and get rid of it for good!

God has the strength we need to fix the weakness within us. And His strength is made perfect in our weakness. We’ve got the weakness, and we need His strength to fix it completely and get rid of it for good.

Go to Him, talk to Him about our weakness. Lay it all out and get His strength working in us.

Getting rid of the weaknesses in us may take some time. God will work on us and in us.

Don’t give up or get discouraged if we don’t feel change right away. Have faith in God and what His word says.

Be patient and keep following His steps. His strength will eventually become evident where we were once weak.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-23-18

John 4:23 (NKJV) 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

God loves our worship. He loves our praise. He loves to hear our voices come to Him.

There are times when we go to our Father in despair or feeling hopeless because of our situations. There are times when things aren’t going so well and we are really feeling the pressure.

Do we continue to worship and praise God or do we let it throw us off and we cry the whole time about ourselves and what we need?

The Lord is not saying to wait until everything is good before we worship Him. He is saying that the hour is NOW.

This is just a little reminder today. Don’t let our troubles keep us from worshiping God. No matter what season we are facing in our life, keep worshiping, keep praising, and keep thanking Him.

Even if we can’t see the finished product, be strong and stay focused, worshiping Him for Who He is.

We just need to put ourselves aside, and with all sincerity, give Him His time. Amen.

Genesis 24:26 (NKJV) 26 Then the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-22-18

John 12:37 (NKJV) 37 But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him…

The problem here was not that they didn’t have enough signs. There were other underlying issues.

People don’t always want to see things for what they are. There’s something that takes place when we do. For one, we need to admit we were wrong and two, there is usually a change that needs to come along with it.

No one can make anyone see things if a person is not willing to see it. And no one can change a person if they are not willing to change. They have to be willing to see with their own eyes and to change in their own heart and mind.

In the scripture above, Jesus gave them an opportunity through many signs, to see Who He was and believe in Him. Why didn’t they believe? Because of their will.

We can teach, we can train, and we can go out of our way to make sure we do all that we need to do to help people. But what it comes down to is if their will is not in it, and they are not willing to see, listen and take action, nothing is going to happen.

They just aren’t willing. And we may never know why. We just need to do our part and move on.

Sometimes we don’t want to change because we are not willing. Other times it’s because we like what we hear and see around us.

John 12:43 (NKJV) 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

Some of us love the praise of men more. How sad is that?

We care more about what people may say or think about us than what God has to say. And because of this, we let them control our thinking, our actions and all that we do.

Man did not influence Jesus. Nor did they pressure Him into doing anything or have control over Him.

John 5:41 (NKJV) 41 “I do not receive honor from men.

Man could not move Jesus. Jesus was moved by His Father only.

Is our will lining up with God’s will for us today? Or is it lining up with man’s will for us, because we love the praise from their lips?

Know this; that man is fickle and as soon as we say no or disagree with them, they will turn their backs on us like they never knew us. God will stick with us through thick and thin!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-21-18

1 Samuel 7:3 (NKJV) 3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”

Many have drifted away from God. Maybe it’s someone you know. Maybe it’s you.

Foreign gods can come in many forms. They don’t even have to have specific names, or even specific religious rituals to follow.

They just need to be able to take our attention off of the one true God long enough to cause us to put Him on the back burner for a while. Or maybe we move Him down our list of priorities, to somewhere lower than at the top.

There are many kinds of “Ashtoreths”, false goddesses, that we keep images of in our hearts and our homes; Money, fame, social status, self-vanity, sports stars, movie and musical celebrities, and so many more. They each hold a special little piece of our hearts.

Those pieces of our hearts are places where God is not allowed. Oh, He can look. But He can’t touch.

Many of us are facing our very own “Philistines” in our lives. We are standing in front of giants that taunt us and mock us, laughing out loud and daring us to step forward and just try to slay them, knowing that our false gods have weakened us and caused us to become spiritually impotent.

Our hearts can no longer afford to be divided between God and “Ashtoreth”. The division only makes us weak and feeble, unable to conquer a single foe, let alone a menacing giant.

It’s time for us to return to God with our whole heart. It’s time for us to put away the foreign gods and the “Ashtoreths”, and get serious with God. We need to serve and obey Him alone. When we do this, He will deliver us from the hand of the Philistines in due time.

Menacing giants or victory? Ashtoreth or God? It’s up to us; we choose.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-20-18

John 11:35 (NKJV) 35 Jesus wept.

Jesus has a heart for people. He isn’t Someone that walked around here on earth and ignored the things He felt. He truly cared and still does. When we hurt, He hurts as well. When we suffer, He suffers with us.

We want you to know today that Jesus cares about you. When we are hurting, sad, depressed or even when we are happy, He cares about our well-being.

Sometimes we may think there is no one in this world that understands us or what it is we are going through. We may seclude ourselves and hide away, trying to keep to ourselves. But Jesus does know, without us saying a word.

So, in our loneliness we need to go to Him. He will understand. He will give us our answers and help us deal with whatever we’re going through.

Someone very close to me is going through a very hard place in their life. They did bring it on themselves by choices that they made. But even in that, Jesus will help them through as they go to Him and surrender themselves into His hands, and let Him lead them out of that hard place.

2 Corinthians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair…

He cries too. Let Him help you today.
