Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-13

(James 5:16 NKJV)  Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

We need each other. No matter how we look at it, we need each other. We were designed to need each other.

There are some of us that don’t like to bother others and we want to handle things ourselves. There are some things we can handle on our own. But, there may come a situation when it is just too much and we need to reach out to others and ask for help.

Why did God create us this way? Was it so we could take advantage of people or be relying on others all the time? No, that isn’t why. There should be no taking advantage of anyone at any time. But a healthy balance in getting help is what God intended. God tells us to confess to each other so that we can get healing.

When we are facing a hard time, or going through things, reaching out for help causes us to humble ourselves and get the prayer we need for our troubles.

When we confess to others, it also helps us to see ourselves in the state we are in, causing us to be accountable for our actions. This is all good and will help us to get through our situation, as we obey God and not try to do it all on our own, but with the help of others and God’s leading.

Let us help our brothers and sisters in need today and let us see the need in ourselves and get the help we need at times.

Healing starts when we confess.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-27-13

(2 Kings 5:10-11 NKJV)  And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” {11} But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’

Today we’d like to talk to you about expectations.

We all have certain expectations when it comes to God. We have things we desire for Him to do. The funny part is that, most times, the expectations we have aren’t in line with what God wants for us or how He wants to bless us or provide for us.

In the example above, Naaman wanted to be healed of leprosy. He had expectations, first of all to be healed, and second, how he should be healed. When Elisha ordered him to wash in the Jordan River seven times, Naaman became furious and left. Why? Because the way he was going to be healed didn’t meet his expectations.

What are our expectations when it comes to God? Do we have everything all planned out for Him when it comes to how He is to remedy our situations or our condition?

Or are we open to His spirit and willing to let Him speak to us and show us how He wants to work on our behalf.

Think about that. It might make the difference between getting our prayers answered or not.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-26-13

(Matthew 17:20-21 NKJV)  So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. {21} “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

With faith the size of a mustard seed…

How big is a mustard seed? Mustard seeds are the small round seeds of various mustard plants. They’re not big at all. As a matter of fact they are very tiny. The seeds are usually about 1 or 2 mm in diameter, according to Wikipedia.

In the verses above Jesus said if that we have faith the size of a mustard seed we can move that very MOUNTAIN that stands between us and our victory! Now, we need to understand that there are some things that we must pray and fast for if we want to see results.

If there are things in our lives today that we want to see happen, and we know we have the faith for them, but there is nothing happening, we need to ask God why.

What is it that we need to do to see the results that we know He can bring?  Some situations require prayer and fasting. If that is the case, let us stop at nothing to go after the victory we’re asking God for.

Have faith today and move those mountains. If we need to, let us pray and fast and get the results that we know God can and will give us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-25-13

(Hebrews 11:8 NKJV)  By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

This is the summation of our walk with God; By Faith.

As we are children and we grow up, we are taught that we need to meticulously plan our every move. We need to plan for our future. We need to map everything out.

And while there is some truth to this, it leaves God out of the picture; eliminates “the faith factor”.

We, as God’s people, need to learn to live and move by faith. We need to learn to trust God so much that we can learn to walk in the kind of faith that Abraham had.

God told Abraham to go, but didn’t tell him where to go. Abraham obeyed, leaving behind all that was familiar to him. Was he perfect in his obedience? No. But he did obey and he did leave his homeland and venture out into the unknown.

There is a balance that we all need to work toward attaining. We need to be responsible, but we also need to trust God and have a level of faith that will carry us through whatever comes our way.

Trust God. Put Him first and everything else will follow.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-23-13

(Psalm 28:7 NKJV)  The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

Rejoice today…lift up our voices with songs straight from our hearts!

Put doubt and unbelief under our feet! Don’t pay attention to the negative things that others have to say about our situation. Only hear God and what He has to say.

Stand believing  trusting Him and His word!!

It’s a good day for those who choose the Lord!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-22-13

(Luke 5:4-6 NKJV)  When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” {5} But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” {6} And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.

Whenever Jesus spoke, His words had truth in them. In fact, His words didn’t just contain truth. They were truth.

I get amused when I see someone who was with Jesus try to disagree with Him or something He had said. They never fared very well when they did this.

Jesus spoke and the world and everything in it had to listen. He was, after all, there when the worlds were formed, working with God the Father and the Holy Spirit, to create all that we see.

So many people are searching for truth…believers and unbelievers alike.

I want to tell you today that if you are a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, STOP looking for truth. You have already found Him!

He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the only way to the Father. All things were made through Him.

So stop searching, lay yourself at His feet and rest, knowing that you need to look no further.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-21-13

(1 Samuel 17:45 NKJV)  Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Let me ask this question today, what giant is standing in our way?

There are many things that like to get in our way, causing us to not get the victory that we so deserve at times.

If we just sit back and let it happen then it’s only our own fault if we are still where we have always been. It’s going to take us standing up and not backing down, doing what David did and facing the giant, in the name of the Lord.

It’s in the “name of the Lord” that we will win this battle.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-20-13

(Exodus 14:21 NKJV)  Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.

It’s always good to go back and read various passages of scripture again, just to keep them fresh in our minds and make sure we have them accurately planted in our mind and spirit.

Reading this passage again always reminds me that when God parted the Red Sea, He did so overnight, not instantly. Moses stretched his hand over the sea and God caused a strong east wind to blow. Parting the sea actually happened over several hours, not in a few seconds!

So despite what some movies might try to portray, the people of Israel had to wait all night long for God’s hand to rescue them from the Egyptian army, which was waiting close by.

They didn’t get sudden deliverance. They had to wait on God!!

Oh, how we all wish God would swoop down from heaven and rescue us all from our problems, dilemmas, trials and tribulations. I will admit that this would surely be nice.

But if God was always right there to rescue us from the situations we get ourselves into, how much would we learn and how many times would we get ourselves right back into the same messes over and over again?

We can definitely say that over the years we have learned that waiting on God to deliver us is, most times, the best thing for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-19-13

(Zechariah 9:12 NKJV)  Return to the stronghold, You prisoners of hope. Even today I declare That I will restore double to you.

Did you know that you and I are prisoners of hope?

Think about it. Everything we desire depends on having hope.

Our faith in God is built on hope… hope in His word, hope in His eternal life and hope in His salvation for us.

Without hope we have absolutely nothing to hold onto.

So we hold onto hope, because in it lays the very foundation of our faith.

(Heb 10:23 NKJV)  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

So no matter what you’re facing, hold onto your hope. No matter how hard the waves beat against you, hold onto your hope. And no matter how dark it seems to get, hold onto your hope.

He is our hope and He who has promised is faithful.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-18-13

(Revelation 21:6 NKJV)  And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.

Are we thirsty for God today?

He is the Alpha and the Omega! Do we want all of Him today? God is calling us by name and saying “I will freely give to YOU who thirsts”.

There are days when life itself tries to bring us down and suck every drop of joy out of us. But God, in all His might and power, is calling out to us to come and fill up with MORE of Him, more Peace, more LOVE and more joy!

Don’t dry up. Drink from His cup today…He is faithful!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-13

(2 Peter 1:5-7 NKJV)  But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, {6} to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, {7} to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.

Knowledge is a beautiful thing if handled correctly. It helps us to know what to do, how to handle situations that come our way and what we need to say at times. Taking the knowledge that God gives us and waiting on Him to show us what to do with it will cause us to learn self control, which is vital to the body of Christ.

We can have a great deal of knowledge, but if we can not deliver it the way God wants us to, or in His timing, it can and will hurt others, including ourselves.

When God gives us knowledge for our situation, or anyone else’s situation, the next step is to pray and wait on Him to show us what to do with it.That will build up that self control muscle.

Have you ever prayed for something or someone, and you knew that God gave you the answer, yet when you acted on what you felt God showed you it didn’t work, or it was not received by the person you shared it with?

This can happen if we are out of God’s timing when sharing knowledge He has given us.

Having self control over the things we receive from God will help us be more productive and see better results as we wait on Him. Let us build up that self control muscle today by waiting on His timing.
