Bible Verse of The Day – 9-30-16

Psalm 100:5 (NKJV) 5 For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

Maybe you are having a hard week, or today is just not going very well for you. Maybe you feel like throwing in the towel and just giving up. Maybe these thoughts and words have already come out of your mouth or they are at the end of your tongue.

We want you to take every bit of strength in you and change what you are about to say or what you are thinking of doing.

Instead of saying, I give up, say, “For the LORD is GOOD!!”

You can try to run from your struggle today. Or You can walk away and come out of this battle better and stronger than ever before.

Your hardship, your pain, your tears can be turned into JOY when you follow Christ. When you have His favor. When you PRESS in and don’t give up.

Psalm 30:5 (NKJV) 5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

God’s favor is for life. LIFE!

He has your back, for He is GOOD and JOY comes in the morning!

We are believing and praying things are going to change for you as you begin to step out and change the way you think and speak about it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-29-16

1 Corinthians 7:3 (NKJV) 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

Lack of affection can cause big problems in a marriage.

Some people may not require  a lot or even a little affection, so for them it may be a struggle when it comes to showing affection to their spouse. They have to learn and understand that others do need it, and therefore have to make more of an attempt to be affectionate, whether they’re in the mood or not.

Others may require a lot and so they have to be careful not to overdo it with those who don’t need or want so much. They have to learn to respect the other and temper their emotions.

It’s a balancing act on both sides.

The important part is that we are willing to learn and not just overlook it, whether we are the one that needs it or the one that doesn’t need as much. We should never look at affection as being only a small part of a marriage.

Affection can be that very thing that holds a marriage together when the storms around us are beating us down.

Keep your marriage strong by letting affection have it’s proper place.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-16

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Today we’re going to clear up a huge misconception that’s been propagated in the body of Christ for a very long time. We don’t know how or when this half-truth began getting spread around, but it’s time for it to be laid to rest right now.

Most of us have heard it said that “God will never give us more than we can handle”. This is often quoted when someone is going through a trial or tough time. The idea is that we will never go through anything that we can’t bear or anything strong enough to break us.

First, let’s talk about the misconception and the real meaning of this verse. We have been told that this verse means that God will never put us through a test, trial or tough time that we can’t hold up under the weight of.

But if we look at this verse in its proper context, we will see that it never says that. Not at all. It says that God will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. Nowhere does it mention being under the weight of a trial or a tough time. It also says that when temptation comes, God will provide a way out.

Second, if we never go through anything that’s more than we can bear or handle, we have no need for God. Not His strength, His wisdom or His peace. So if our lives were all nice and comfortable, with no tough times, most of us would simply cruise right through them and push God aside because we wouldn’t see any need for Him in the day to day stuff.

So as we’re being tossed on the waves of the rough waters of life, and we feel like we can’t handle any more, it’s time for us to stop trying to handle it all and start casting our cares upon Him. It takes humility to admit that we need help, but once we get past being humbled, then He can intervene on our behalf.

1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

So, remember that He offers us help during those tough times that we face and He’s always there for us. We just need to reach out and accept that help.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-27-16

Genesis 17:17 (NKJV) 17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

This is something to be excited about! Abraham having a child at the age of 100 and Sarah at 90. That is truly amazing!

When God tells us what He wants to do with us or for us, it can sometimes blow our minds and maybe even cause us to burst out laughing. Not in a bad way or in a mocking way, but just in a WOW way, bringing great JOY to us.

Sometimes it is so exciting that we want to help move it along more quickly, and we get feeling like maybe we need to do something to help. Or we get feeling anxious or fearful that it may never happen, so we try to make sure it does.

Just a little reminder; God is faithful! He knows what needs to happen before it comes to pass.

Some of us may need to be corrected in some areas.

Some of us may need our circumstances to change before our answer can come.

Some of us may need to let go of certain things, maybe even friends or relationships, etc., before God can complete His work in our situation.

Some of us may need to get our priorities in order first, before He can make His move.

And all of these things can take time to happen.

God knows what needs to be done. He has the timing and the plan in His hands. Instead of trying to make it happen on our own, we need to be prayerful, watchful and follow His steps, every day. Don’t worry or think about when and how it’s going to happen. Just let it come to pass.

As we trust Him and do this we will see Him move on our behalf.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-26-16

1 John 2:1 (NKJV) 2 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Each day that we get up, we make decisions. We make choices. We say things. We think things. We do things. And with God’s word in us, it helps us to stay on the right track and do those things that are right. When we do what is right, we know it because it just feels right!

Have we ever felt terrible for doing something right? Did we think, “Oh man, I just did the right thing and boy I feel awful inside”? Not usually. When we do things right, we know it! We need to always keep doing what is right.

It’s the same when we do things wrong. We will know it. We will feel it. It’s then that we have to ask for forgiveness and for God’s help to try to fix it.

Doing things wrong happens to each one of us at one time or another. It’s part of being human.

I remember going to church as a child. To me, my Pastor seemed like the perfect man. I was young and didn’t know any better.

Then, when I was older, one day my Pastor said something to me that hurt me really badly. It cut me deep.

I struggled with this because I didn’t understand how he could do that. He was supposed to be perfect, right?

God knew my heart and thoughts. He brought correction and comfort to me. He spoke healing words to my broken heart.

He said, “man is man. Man will disappoint you at times. Man will hurt you at times. Man is not perfect and he/she will make mistakes. But I am here. I will never leave you nor forsake you. Don’t put your trust in man, but in Me”.

You see I was looking at my Pastor the wrong way. I thought he could never do anything wrong.

Listen. We all mess up at times, no matter who we are. That goes for all of us. We should be ever so grateful that when we do, there is forgiveness for us.

There is healing, there is deliverance, and there is life through the precious name of Jesus Christ. He is an advocate for all who put their trust in Him!

Man is man, but God is GOD. Hold on to Him tightly. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-23-16

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (NKJV) 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

We live in troubled times.

We talk about this fairly frequently. Why? Because it’s part of all of our daily lives. We see so much happening around us that points to end times… the last days.

We know beyond a doubt that it’s getting close. Very close, in fact. Many, many Biblical prophecies have been fulfilled and we see signs everywhere; Increasing natural disasters, non-stop wars, escalating terrorism, heightening racial tensions across the globe, a rapid decline of morality and increase in self-centeredness. And so many other things.

Yes, generations before this one have also dealt with these things, but it has escalated rapidly during the last 15 years and has now become a massive global problem. There is no nation that is immune to any of this.

And so what do we do about it? How does this affect us in our daily lives?

We love God first and foremost. We put Him first in everything.

And then we love those around us with His love. We continue to be the salt and the light that He has called us to be.

And we keep looking up. We keep our eyes focused on Him. We can’t get caught up in hype. We can’t get so focused on the events around us that we lose track of who we are in Christ.

And we hold onto God’s peace. No matter how bad it gets, or how terrible things look, we hold fast to Him. For He is our source of hope and strength.

And we don’t try to figure out when it will happen. Yes, there are signs all around us. But we need to remember that God’s timetable is never the same as ours. And Jesus Himself said that nobody will know the day or time in advance.

Matthew 24:36 (NKJV) 36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

So, in the meantime, we just need to keep doing what Jesus told us to do; loving those around us, making disciples of all nations and loving God with all our hearts.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-22-16

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The ways of the world remind me of sandpaper. They rub on us, trying to wear us down a little at a time. And if we’re not careful, before we know it we’re blending right in with everyone else.

Or think of it like when a bug hits the windshield on your car. At first it’s just one blotch. But then you turn on your windshield wipers and it gets spread all over the place, making it hard to see.

Sin does that to us too. It makes it hard for us to see clearly. It’s little at first. But that little spot can grow if we don’t remove it completely. If we try to cover it over or we make only a feeble effort to overcome it, it will only grow and become worse.

And then it gets hard to see anything clearly. Right and wrong begin to blend together. Black and white become gray.

But there’s a cure for this. God has promised us that we will never be tempted with more than we can bear. And in doing so, He will always provide a way out.

Many times we tend to complicate things and make it seem like avoiding sin is some kind of intricate process. But in reality, it usually involves us saying no and letting God strengthen us so we can turn from it and walk away.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

So we challenge you today. Don’t let sin become like that bug on the windshield, smeared and smudged until you can no longer see clearly. Let God clean it off thoroughly. Let Him guide your steps.

Let Him show you the way out. And when He shows you, be sure to follow it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-21-13

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

Before we say anything, we should listen to what people are saying first. That’s right; be swift to hear and slow to speak.

Listening will help us hear what is taking place. Listening will show us what is going on in the heart of man. Because what is in the heart will come out through their words.

Matthew 15:18 (NKJV) 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.

When people speak and we are listening, we will then hear what is going on and we can address the root of it, as we also listen and wait on the Holy Spirit to help us bring guidance and direction.

We need to listen if we want to be of some help to anyone.

Be swift to hear and then act accordingly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-20-16

Proverbs 24:33-3 (NKJV) 33 A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest; 34 So shall your poverty come like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.

Apathy & complacency. Those two words were dropped into my spirit as I pondered on some things during the past day or two.

Many believers wrestle with apathy. Apathy and complacency go hand in hand. This terrible duo can lead to the failure and ultimate destruction of a believer’s spiritual wellbeing.

What do we mean by that? Let’s talk about it for a minute or two.

First, let’s define those two words that are partners in quiet, subtle destruction.

Complacency: a feeling of being satisfied with how things are and not wanting to try to make them better

Apathy: the feeling of not having much emotion or interest

As believers, we should always be looking up and looking forward. Our eyes need to be fixed on God and our hearts need to be intent on drawing closer to Him and strengthening our relationship with Him.

This requires time and effort on our part!

When we become complacent and satisfied with how things are, we can become apathetic. We no longer have any interest in pursuing God or growing that relationship. We just want the status quo because it’s easy that way.

And as time goes by, if we’re not moving forward, we begin to slowly regress and then we start to slip backwards. We may not see that we’re slipping backwards. Or maybe we do see it, but don’t want to admit it or acknowledge it. But it’s happening nonetheless.

So let’s ask God to show us if we’ve become complacent and/or apathetic. And listen earnestly and honestly for His reply. He wants us to stay hot and on fire for Him, not lukewarm or smoldering.
