Bible Verse of The Day – 3-31-15

Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV) 10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Fear. It’s a word that doesn’t get used too much these days, especially when it comes to God. It’s almost become politically incorrect to do such a thing.

But God isn’t concerned with political correctness. And neither are we. We need to speak God’s word, regardless of what’s popular.

You see, the fear of God is healthy. The word says that fearing God is the beginning of wisdom.

The fear of God will lead us to consider our choices and make them wisely. The fear of God will cause us to stop and think about what we do before we do it. And it’s not so much that we fear that God will smite us or strike us down if we do something wrong.

It’s more of a fact that we want to make choices that please Him. And when we do that, we won’t end up getting ourselves into big messes time after time.

In reality, there are two kinds of fear. The fear of man and the fear of God. If we fear man, we will be driven by choices that please the people around us, which will ultimately disappoint God.

On the other hand, if we fear God, instead of fearing man, we won’t worry about what people think of us and the choices we make will be sound, pleasing God and leading us down the path He has set before us.

So today is the day we need to choose. Who will we fear?

God, or Man?

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-30-15

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

We all have our weaknesses and our frailties. None of us is without them.

Perfection escapes us and leaves us lacking in many areas. And this lack creates the need for depending on someone else to help us in those areas of weakness.

And this is where God’s grace comes in. Because we are imperfect, we make mistakes. Poor choices and bad decisions can cause us to fall into sin, needing forgiveness and mercy from God, our Maker.

And His grace is abundant! In fact, He tells us that His grace is sufficient, which means that it is more than enough.

Having weaknesses isn’t something to be ashamed of. It’s how we’re made. We are human, therefore we are frail. And it’s this frailty that shows us our need for God, to strengthen us in those weak areas and give us what we need to stand strong and excel where we have previously failed.

Needing God is not something to be embarrassed about. There’s not a human being who has ever lived, or will ever live who doesn’t need Him. We just need to understand and appreciate the fact that we do need Him and then give Him the glory and thanks for being our strength where we have a weakness.

So let’s stop pretending to be so strong all the time. It’s OK to drop the facade and get real with Him. He knows our weaknesses anyway, so admitting them and asking Him for help will just make things less complicated and help us get through the trials and tough times that much more quickly.

His grace is sufficient.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-15

Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There are so many things that can try to keep us from our Creator.

Distractions, troubles, trials, other people and even our own stubbornness can pull us away from Him, if we let them.

The key to staying close to Him is to be adamant about not letting anyone or anything come between us. Ultimately, we decide what direction our relationship with Him goes.

That sounds like a pretty hefty order, to keep distractions out of our way and prevent them from separating us from God. But, if we take a stand and staunchly defend that relationship, there is nothing that can defeat us in our quest to press in and stay close to God.

So, today, whether you’re facing a trial in your life, you’ve got people pulling on you and trying to sway you, or if you’ve somehow let yourself grow cold, don’t give in!

Push forward, determine in your heart that nothing will come between you and God, and resist the devil in his attempts to derail your eternal destiny.

You Will Win This Battle!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-15

James 5:16 (NKJV)16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

God created us, His body, to help each other.

He knew that we couldn’t make it on our own, so He not only gave us His Spirit, The Helper, but he told us to help each other and lean on each other.

Being a follower of Christ is about more than just laying claim to a Savior and going to church on Sunday!

Jesus told us that we are to love each other as He loved us.

John 15:17 (NKJV) 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

As we learn to love each other and pray for each other, we will learn that our own wants and needs aren’t always as big a deal as we might think they are. And it’s not that our needs aren’t important, but sometimes we need to learn to put ourselves second, and others first.

This can be difficult at first, but as we let God grow us, stretch us and mature us, we’ll find it easier and easier to do.

Pray for one another.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-15

1 Peter 2:20 (NKJV) 20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.

Have we ever had to experience suffering for something we did not deserve? We knew it was unfair but we had to take it and not say a word about it.

It’s not easy to keep still or to keep the right attitude when dealing with that type of behavior or persecution aimed against us. That is a very hard thing to deal with and it takes great strength and discipline. God understands that and He will help us through it.

Isaiah 40:29 (NKJV) 29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

The suffering we go through and how we handle ourselves while going through it shows God how much we love Him, when we choose not to fight or argue, but rather to do the right thing, by being patient and letting God handle it in His time and way.

Let Him give us the strength we need to endure it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-15

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Being still is probably a pretty hard thing for most of us to do, especially if we’re in a pressure situation or going through a trial.

One of the first things that many people want to do when trouble comes is to put on their running shoes and get as far away from trouble as possible. It’s a natural reaction for the flesh to want to avoid anything that might hurt a little.

But God wants us to stay put, sit still and trust Him.

There will be a lot of things that will come our way during our lifetimes. Some of them might be pretty dark and uncomfortable. Some of them might even scare us into thinking that it’s not worth going on.

It doesn’t matter what happens or what we’re facing, God is bigger than that obstacle, trial or situation. He holds the answer to every question we have, the solution to every problem we face and the provision for every need we may come up against.

So as hard as it can be to stay put and be still, that  is exactly what we need to do so we can hear Him and get His  answer for our dilemma.

No, that doesn’t mean that we just lay down and expect God to do everything for us. But it does  mean that we need to be vigilant, diligent and using discernment sharpened by the Spirit of God in order to hear what God is saying and then to follow through and do it.

So it’s time for us to reach down and untie our shoe laces, take those running shoes off and find a place to sit and listen for God’s direction and instruction.

He is able to do more than we could ever think or imagine. And with His help, there is nothing that we can’t overcome.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-24-15

Revelation 22:8-9 (NKJV) 8 Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. 9 Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

“See that you do not do that.”

Words of extreme wisdom from the mouth of one of God’s angels.

John was face to face with an angel of God. In his presence, John fell on his face and was about to worship him. But the angel cautioned him not to do such a thing.

“Worship God”, he said.

How good we would all do to heed these words. Worship God!

Sadly, far too many people have put God in second place, behind angels or behind their pastor, or behind some other leader.

In the words of the angel of God, “See that you do not do that”.

People of God, we all need to check ourselves and make sure we worship only God. We should not worship our pastor, angels, popular Christian leaders, musicians, movie stars or anyone else.

God alone deserves our worship and adoration.

Worship God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-23-15

Psalm 133:1 (NKJV) 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Yesterday, while we were out picking up some groceries, we met up with another Pastor in the store. We have met him in passing a few times, but never to really talk with.

We stood in the aisle of the grocery store yesterday and introduced ourselves and talked for a little while.

Even though we were from different denominations, one of the things we had in common was that we serve Jesus Christ.

Before we left, we asked him if there was anything we could be praying for him for. We exchanged cards, agreed to pray for each other, and if we needed anything to get in touch with each other.

We left the store and later that day we headed over to drop off some groceries to a family that has been struggling. When we got there, they had told us that the Pastor we were talking to in the grocery store had just been there and had dropped off some groceries as well. Neither one of us knew the other was going there.

That family was double blessed!!

God’s Spirit moved through both Pastors, despite our denominational differences, to help the same family out.

Let’s lay down our differences today. If the other person isn’t willing to do it first, then we should take the first step. Whether it’s denominational differences, ethnic differences, family/spouse differences, even business differences, etc., we need to lay them down.

God’s Spirit can move when there is unity.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-21-15

Mark 12:30(NKJV) 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment.

We are ever so grateful for all the wonderful congratulations we received from you on our anniversary day. Thank you all so much for your personal touch on our special day. It really meant the world to us and even though we have never met most of you face to face, we feel like we know you.

We truly are blessed to have such wonderful people like yourselves, standing with us and supporting us with the Bible Verse of The Day ministry.

There is a divine connection between us and God has brought us together.

Our prayer for you each day is that you would truly draw close to Him in all that you do. We know that if you do this your life will be blessed, you will make the right decisions and things will work out for the good for you, your family, business, ministry, and marriage, etc.

There is one thing in life that each one of us must do on a personal level. No one can do this for us. That is to love God with every ounce of our being.

We may have things to tend to throughout the day; that’s life. But we must always have time for God, no matter how much we have going on.

He is the most important part of our daily life; everything else can wait or be put on hold.

Loving Him takes precedence!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-20-15

Luke 10:19 (NKJV) 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

As followers of Christ, we have been given authority.

What does that mean? Who and what do we have authority over? What does that authority do for us?

We have authority over demonic powers. Jesus mentions snakes and scorpions, but this is simply symbolic for demons and evil spirits.

If we have the spirit of God living in us and we are washed in the blood of Jesus, we have the authority to rebuke demons and cast them out in the name of Jesus.

There is no power in hell that can stand up against the name of our Savior. They have to flee, no questions asked.

Having this authority means that we are equipped to live life with power and victory. It doesn’t mean that we will never have battles to fight. It doesn’t mean that we will never go through trials or hard times.

But it does mean that when we face demonic powers, we have the means and the weapons to defeat them. They cannot rule over our lives, unless we let them.

So as we face each day and evil spirits try to attack us, we have what it takes to rebuke them, cast them out and prevent them from ever coming back.

We just need to understand our authority and use it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-15

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

We don’t need to worry or doubt whether or not we are going to do the right thing if we wait on the Holy Spirit and follow His guidance!

Will the things that the Holy Spirit shows us or tells us always line up with what we think should happen? No. But it will line up with the Word of God.

If we ever feel like the Holy Spirit is guiding us and it goes against the Word of God and what the Bible tells us to do, then that is not the Holy Spirit guiding us. He never goes against God’s word, because the Holy Spirit and the Father are ONE.

We need to be alert at all times, for the Holy Spirit is there to help us. We need to be listening and ready at all times.

Receive Him and His help today, in Jesus’ name, and ask Him to guide us in our daily lives and in the decisions we need to make every day. Amen.
