Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-14

Matthew 11:29 (NKJV) Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Are you tired? Is life and all of its battles wearing you out? Are you longing for rest?

Jesus is calling you today.

We can try with all of our might to escape or fix the things that are wearing us down. But most times all we do is tire ourselves out even more.

If you want true rest, give your cares and burdens to Him. Let Him take them from you and hold you in His arms and show you true rest and true peace.

It’s time to lay down the yoke and burdens of this world and take on the yoke of Jesus.

There is no peace in this world like the peace He gives us.

So today, stop struggling and go to Him. Lay it all down.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-27-14

(Matthew 7:25 NKJV)  “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

I was speaking to a person the other day and they were having quite the situation going on at their work, between themselves and upper management.

When the conversation was coming to a close the person said, “I know I’ll be fine because I have God on my side.”

The confidence the person had in their Savior, the knowing that she had, was all she needed. She had confidence in God that it would all be OK, no matter how it turned out.

As she stuck to what she knew, that Jesus was with her, her storm would pass and she would be fine.

The storm came, but as she kept her place on the rock, the battle was won!

She won that battle because she was founded on the rock!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-26-14

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven

Have you ever gotten a feeling that something you’ve been doing for a long time needs to change?

Maybe there’s something that you’ve enjoyed doing for a very long time. It was always a pleasure for you, but now it seems like a chore. Sometimes you even dread it.

Sometimes it’s just our flesh wanting to “scratch an itch”. We get bored and want change. It’s a normal human trait.

But there are times when this is just part of a changing of seasons in our life. We have worked through one season and we’re heading into another season. When this happens, we will “lose the grace” for something that we have done for a long time without ever even thinking about it.

But now it suddenly feels empty, frustrating, boring and lifeless to us. Sometimes God will bring this about in us to cause us to become uncomfortable with where we are, because He wants to move us into something new!

If we stay comfortable where we’re at, we will most likely never move on to new things.

Sometimes it can be tough to tell if we’re “scratching an itch” or if our grace has run out for something because God is moving us into a new season of our life. But as we grow closer to God and learn His ways, it gets easier over time.

Remember… there is a season and a purpose for everything under heaven.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-25-14

Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;

We touched on this verse about a month ago, but felt like it needed to be reiterated again today.

There are so many things that we face in our lives. So many trials that pull on us and try to keep us down.

It can be pretty tough to make sense of them sometimes. We try and try to wrap our heads around the things that happen, but nothing seems to make sense.

But that’s OK!

God isn’t bound by human understanding and human logic. He doesn’t have to fit in the box that we try to put Him in. Why? Because He’s God!

Our human understanding is limited by what we know and what we understand. But God has no limits.

So when we’re shaking our heads and wondering what’s next, instead of running around frantically, trying to put all of the logical pieces together, we need to let God put the pieces together for us.

That doesn’t come easy most times. We have to fight our emotions and our logical thinking. But once we reach a point where we give up the fight with our minds and let God lead us, putting our trust wholly in Him, then we will have victory.

Stay strong in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-24-14

(1 John 4:15 NKJV)  Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

God abides in him. Who is the him he is referring to? Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God. God abides in that person.

To confess means to admit and to abide means to live or stay somewhere. So as we admit Jesus is the Son of God, He will live and stay in us.

Even if we are going through a tough time and it is our fault…He’s there! He did not go anywhere; He didn’t leave us to fend for ourselves. We will not have to pick up the pieces and fix it alone.

Some may say how do we know that God is with us? Do we get some kind of feeling? Is there a sign to look for? Maybe He was with us and then left  because He’s angry at us for the mistake we made.

It’s not always how we feel or what we see happening. Sometimes there is nothing at all to feel, see or know. It just is.

God will not leave us; He stays. We just have to trust, believe and STAND, knowing that God’s Word is true.

He does what He says!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-22-14

(Job 19:25 NKJV)  For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth;

For those of us who believe in Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we are a people who have a Redeemer.

He is there for us to lean on and to cry out to. He is there for us to worship and to bow down to, to give thanks and to praise.

This Redeemer lives in those who believe in Him!

Shout it out today… Our Redeemer lives!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-21-14

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Children. They’re a gift and a blessing from God himself.

As parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, it’s our duty to set examples for the little ones in our lives.

Our words and, most importantly, our actions are what they see and follow. Everything we say and do gets absorbed like a sponge and then emulated.

If they see us pray, they will learn to pray. If they hear us singing praises to God, they will learn to praise God. If they hear us cussing someone out, they will learn to do the same.

We are being watched!

Knowing that our lives are examples for the little ones in our lives should give us good reason to make sure we do what is right in the eyes of God.

As they grow up, they will do what they have seen us do, so let’s set a good, godly example.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-20-14

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

This is a pretty familiar verse for most people who have been followers of Christ for any length of time. In fact, it’s probably almost too familiar, to the point of losing some of its meaning for some of us.

God tells us to seek Him first. And if we do that, He promises that all “these things” will be added to us.

So first of all, He gives us a command; seek Him and His kingdom first.

And then, based on our obedience to His command, he makes a promise; all these things shall be added to you (us).

What “things” is He talking about?

Our everyday needs. Food, clothing and shelter. These are the things that so many of us spend countless hours worrying about and chasing after, week after week. And they are important things, to be sure.

But if we put God first, truly first, He promises that He will provide those things for us!

We wish we had the space here to share testimony after testimony from people, including ourselves, who have “gotten this” after a long time, and then when they did get it, everything came together for them and they understood God’s peace and His provision in a brand new way. These testimonies would blow your minds and speak volumes as to the faithfulness of God and the truth of His word and His promises.

So, stop worrying, seek (put) Him first. And let Him add all these things to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-18-15

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Being still can be a pretty hard thing for us to do. We always want to be on the move, making things happen, changing things and controlling how things go.

Sometimes being on the move can be a good thing. We do, after all, need to get things done. It’s part of being a responsible adult.

But there are times when we need to be still. We need to sit still and be quiet long enough to hear God… to let Him speak to us, instead of us always thinking that He needs to hear us.

We like to say that we’re praying when we talk to God, or that when we talk to God, we’re praying. It’s just how most of us have been taught to think.

But, praying is a two-way conversation! We talk, God listens. God talks, we listen! We get this wrong so many times. We get so caught up in telling God what we need, what we want and how we feel, that we forget to, or get too self-absorbed to let God speak so that we can learn about how He feels.

Ouch. That kind of hurts our ego, doesn’t it? But it’s true!

And if we’re so busy talking that we can’t hear God, isn’t praying kind of pointless?

So, starting today, let’s take the time to listen, not just speak. Give God time to say His piece too, not just listen to your piece.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-17-14

(Matthew 5:14 NKJV)  “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Wherever we are today, let’s let God’s light shine through us!

How can we teach others to lean on God and trust in Him? We do this by being an example and practicing it in our own lives.

God’s word is phenomenal, and as we walk it out, others will see how powerful, strong and miraculous He is as they watch, listen, and feel the presence of God moving in us.

God’s Word comes alive in us when we truly believe in Him, take His word to heart and let it teach us. As we do this, those that we are around will see it.

Step out today, be bold and shine bright!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-15-14

(Psalm 119:135 NKJV)  Make Your face shine upon Your servant, And teach me Your statutes.

God’s statutes are what we want to walk in. A statute is a written rule or regulation.

His Word is our statute. The things that He put in the Bible are that which we must follow.

Sometimes we will get it right and other times we will mess up and miss it completely. But the thing that is most important is that we keep trying to get it right, and no matter how many times it takes, repent and try again.

God will work with us and help us to get it right. He’s patient, loving and He knows us better than we know ourselves.

In doing things His way, we have to take one day at a time so it doesn’t get overwhelming. He is gentle and loves us very much.
