Bible Verse of The Day – 11-30-19

Mark 16:17-18 (NKJV) 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Who will these signs follow? Those who believe in Jesus!

They will cast out demons, speak with new tongues, take up serpents, drink anything deadly and it will not hurt them. They will lay hands on the sick and the people will be healed.

Some believers today have not seen any of these signs. Why? Because they lack understanding. Either they were not taught that they can do these things, or they just don’t want to. Maybe they are uncomfortable and unsure of themselves.

Of course, we are only going to do what we have been taught or what we are comfortable doing. That’s just how we are as human beings.

Comfort can bring a false sense of security, even within the body of Christ.

But we have not been called to be comfortable. We are called to serve.

In other words, we are called to do what needs to be done in any given situation, as God leads. As long as it lines up with God’s word, and He is prompting us, then we need to step out in faith and serve.

1 Corinthians 9:19 (NKJV) 19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-29-19

Genesis 2:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Marriage is an incredible thing. A man and a woman are joined together, and they become one.

Yes, this is referring to the physical union that takes place in matrimonial intimacy.

But it’s referring to more than just that.

God intended for a married couple to join together for life. And in that lifelong union, the two grow and mature together as a couple, becoming closer and closer over time.

This is not a cheap shot at those who may have gotten divorced. Divorce is a topic all its own that we won’t get into in this devotional.

We simply want to look at marriage and what God intended it to be; a sacred union between a man and a woman whereby they grow together, under God’s covering, helping each other and nurturing each other and learning to work through whatever difficulties they encounter in life.

Two people becoming one is something that only God can make happen. Why? Because it’s based on more than just feelings, emotions and warm fuzzies.

Yes, being in love helps! But love can come in more ways than just an initial physical attraction based on looks. True love will ultimately carry a couple way beyond physical intimacy and way beyond staring intently into each other’s eyes.

When we do marital counseling, we like to share something with the couple we are counseling that we call the marriage triangle. In your mind, picture a triangle: God is at the head (top) of the triangle. The man and woman are each at a lower corner.

Because they are at the bottom corners, they are not very close. There is space between them.

But, as each of the two people moves closer to God at the top of the triangle, they also move closer to each other. Ultimately, when they both reach God, at the top, they also meet each other there.

Some people might say that this is only a representation of a perfect marriage. In reality, though, it is simply an illustration that shows us how to grow as a couple and keep God at the center of it all.

That is the key; putting and keeping God at the center of everything.

Marriage isn’t always easy. Sometimes it can be downright difficult. None of us is promised a picture-perfect marriage.

But there is one thing we are promised if we put God, and keep God, at the center, and allow Him to be the head of our marriage; that no matter what we face, He will lead us, guide us and bring us through our trials and difficulties, if we let Him.

Will we let Him?

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-28-19

Colossians 1:3 (NKJV) 3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you…

We want you to know how important you are to us.

God has brought you here, and we feel a great responsibility to pray for you and to teach you the things that God has put in our hearts and on our lips to share.

Many of you have told us that you don‘t even know how you found this ministry.

But that doesn’t matter. You are here and supporting the work that we have submitted ourselves to. And God is using you to keep it going.

Thank you so much for your obedience.

Thanksgiving Day here in the USA is a time for us to reflect on the things God has helped us through this year. One of those things was when our main computer system died, back in March. We took a hit that day.

But even though it was a direct hit on our main way of doing what we do, we knew it was not too big for God.

Calmly, we heard the voice of the Lord, “tell the people”.

We didn’t know why He would want us to do that. We were hesitant, because we know how hard life is for everyone and we didn’t want to put such a concern on anyone else. We felt it was our problem to deal with.

But God knew what would happen if we told you. He knew that you would hear the cry and answer us. And you did. Thank you so much.

You shocked us. We were able to get what we needed and we were back up and running pretty quickly. Oh, how good God is!

You all are amazing and we love you very much. We may not know you by face, but our hearts have been divinely connected by Almighty God.

So, as part of our Thanksgiving celebration this year, we will be thinking of you all and reflecting on how grateful we are that God has connected us. We are family.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-27-19

John 1:1 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

If there is one thing we can count on, it’s this; God is so incredibly intricate in His workings that He cannot be comprehended fully by the human mind.

Now, that might seem like a bad thing because we want to be able to understand Him. In reality, though, it’s not bad at all.

It simply means that He is more powerful and mighty than we can ever imagine.

God is bigger than we could ever make up with our own minds. He is bigger than what we can see. He operates in ways that we can’t fully understand.

And do you know what this means? It means that if we have chosen to put our faith and trust in Him, and to follow Him, He is on our side!

I’m an analytical type of person. I ponder on things sometimes that can actually make my head hurt because of the depth of them. Not physically hurt, but in an intangible kind of way, because sometimes for just a split second, I will see and begin to comprehend the depth of God.

And that right there blows my mind. The depth of God. It blows my mind when I even start to comprehend it.

So, why should this get us excited?

Because we have the wonder of this incredible God backing us up, supporting us, directing us, leading us and guiding us. He has made it possible for us to be adopted by Him, making this mighty, incredible God our very own Father!

And, if that’s the case, what do we have to fear? What do we have to worry about?

Nothing.

That might seem oversimplified. Because if we look at things through our human eyes, there certainly seems to be an unlimited number of things that worry us.

But that’s the problem right there; looking at everything through human eyes.

We need a change in direction. We need to let God teach us His ways, allowing Him to transform us by the renewing of our minds. This helps us to put our old ways behind and begin to walk in His ways.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Go ahead. Trust Him. We dare you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-26-19

Luke 2:34-35 (NKJV) 34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against 35 (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Mary, the mother of Jesus, experienced piercing anguish at the cross, when her Son was crucified for us.

Piercing anguish means to have severe mental or physical pain or suffering. To be extremely distressed about something.

There is such a thing as anguish, and many people suffer from it. Maybe we’ve had a loss, or something very bad has happened to us that has hit us deeply.

It has pierced our soul, and we cannot seem to get past it. The memory runs over and over in our head, and it is all we see no matter how hard we try to stop it.

No matter how hard we try to erase it or forget it, it just won’t go away. The pain is unbearable and there is nothing in life that will help it subside.

You are not alone. Your anguish is real, and it is painful.

Mary went through this same pain. She suffered physically as she watched her child be nailed to the cross and die for our sins. He was innocent, but yet treated like a criminal.

Jesus might have died on that cross, and Mary may have felt it, suffering greatly to the piercing of her soul, but a wonderful thing was birthed from it all.

Victory came!

There was a purpose for it all. Redemption for each one of us.

Jesus defeated death. He rose again, and He has made a way for us to dance, even during our time of mourning!

He made a way to let go of our pain and receive healing, deliverance, and eternal life. It is all ours through His death.

No more anguish; throw off the sackcloth and ask Jesus to take your pain and give you gladness.

Psalm 30:11 (NKJV) 11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness…

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-25-19

John 4:31-34 (NKJV) 31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” 32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” 33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

It can be a bit amusing sometimes to read some of the things the disciples said to Jesus. They were clearly not seeing and thinking spiritually-minded. They were often only able to see and discern things in the natural.

It was for this reason that Jesus said to them on one occasion, “Are you thus without understanding also?” (Mark 7:18). In other words, do you still not understand this, even after I have taught you and shown you so much?

This is also one of the biggest hurdles for believers to overcome in our walk with Him. Our minds are so carnal, and our thoughts seem to automatically lean on natural understanding in just about everything we encounter.

Yes, we live in a natural, tangible, carnal world. And we dwell here in human bodies that function in a fleshly way.

But God has given each of us a spirit. And He wants us to learn to live by our spirit also, not just by our flesh or our human understanding.

Romans 8:13 (NKJV) 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Living by the spirit brings life and understanding, whereby living and walking according to the flesh brings confusion and death.

Learning to live by the spirit takes time and effort, just as babies learning to walk and talk. We can’t expect to snap our fingers and have it happen overnight.

And it’s an amazing thing when we start to “get it”. It can be exciting, fun, extremely interesting and even overwhelming at times, as we start to see and understand the things of the Spirit.

But, no matter what, we should never let it intimidate us or scare us.

Yes, we want to handle it responsibly. We don’t want to make mistakes or wrong choices because we didn’t discern or understand something correctly. But God shows us grace as we are learning, knowing that we are like babes learning to walk.

We will fall down. Sometimes we will get bruised or scraped up a little. But He is always there to pick us back up, brush off the dirt and put a band-aid on our wounds, sending us on our way again with His love and encouragement.

Draw near to Him. Spend time in His word. Learn of Him. These are all part of the equation when it comes to getting understanding and walking by the Spirit, not by the flesh.

Bible verse of The Day – 11-24-19 – Heads or Tails?

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the precious name of Jesus.

Heads or tails?

That’s the question we ask in this week’s video. It’s also the title of that video, where we discuss God’s promise to make us the head, and not the tail.

Many of us struggle in certain areas of our lives, over and over again. But in our video, we talk about how to overcome those struggles and finally have victory in areas where we have never been able to have it.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to give this a watch.

Enjoy your day!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-23-19

1 Peter 4:2 (NKJV) 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

We are not our own. We do not live for ourselves.

We are all learning to walk in this kind of living. And we are all in a different place.

It’s a constant battle with the flesh, to keep it in line with the will of God.

Only we and God truly know where we stand, and what changes we need to make.

Sometimes we can get discouraged because of a decision we made, something we did, or something we didn’t do.

Don’t give up or stop learning. Keep pressing in and God will be there for us.

This is how we learn and grow to walk in the will of God. One situation, one step and one day at a time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-22-19

1 Peter 2:15-16 (NKJV) 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.

There are many places throughout the Bible where God tells us that our actions are what will show the world who we really are.

We can say one thing, but we can show, by our actions, that what we say isn’t as important to us as we might try to lead others to believe.

This is important because submitting to authorities who are over us, following the laws and statutes for the land in which we live, will silence the unbelievers around us and remove their ability to make accusations against us.

It’s also important that we never use the freedom God has given us in Christ as a cloak, or mask, to cover wickedness or unrighteousness.

The freedom we have been given was bought at a high price, so we should never use it as a license or excuse for self-indulgence that leads to sin or causes us to give in to temptation.

Instead, we should see ourselves as bondservants of God, devoted and loyal to Him in everything we do.

We all have our faults, weaknesses and downfalls. We will never get this 100% right all of the time. But as we mature in our walk with God, we will begin to develop a better understanding of these things.

As we do so, we will find ourselves trading things that are less than pleasing to God for those things that are pure, true, lovely, noble, of good report and virtuous.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-21-19

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

His light is perfect. It shines brightly. We cannot miss it if we are paying attention.

I remember as a little girl, my Dad and Mom sent us to Sunday school every week. They would meet us there for Church and then we would meet at home afterward for a big Sunday dinner!

We were a large family. Eleven of us all together at the dinner table. We practically had our own parties!

My Dad would usually make the Sunday dinner and my Mom would assist him. When we sat down, there was always a big bowl of mashed potatoes, a meat of some type, some vegetables and BREAD!

The bread was there in case we were still hungry, even after eating a plateful of the other food. We didn’t usually have many leftovers.

We learned from my parents how to care for a family. We saw the sacrifices they made at times for us children, and when the tough times came, how to get through them.

They always had faith in their good Lord to get us through whatever we faced.

He was their Light, and He became ours as we grew and watched them follow Him. Was our family perfect? Nope.

There is darkness in this world; evil, temptation, pain and hardness all around us.

But as we continue to follow Him, we will live in the Light and life will be good, because He is good!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-20-19

Psalm 37:4-5 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

“What is God’s will for my life?”

That is probably the question we get asked the most on a regular basis. So many believers want to know what God’s plan is for them.

This is a legitimate question. There’s no doubt about it. But most times, it’s a question asked out of the proper timing, and sometimes even with the wrong motives.

Let me explain.

Because of a lack of understanding, many believers fall into this same trap. They get thinking, and it dawns on them that they don’t know “God’s plan” for their life or His “will for them”.

Many people will try to figure it out in various ways. Some will read lots of books. Some will ask people they know. Some might watch videos published by people claiming to know how to find God’s will for your life.

Honestly though, these things are almost all a waste of time.

Why? Because spending time chasing this, instead of spending time pursuing God, will keep us from ever growing into who God wants us to be.

You see, the key to finding God’s will and purpose for your life revolves 100% around learning of God and building your relationship with Him first!

As we learn of Him, and as we get a better understanding of how He wants us to live, we also learn who He wants us to be. And who He wants us to be is the key that unlocks the door to finding out what he wants us to do with our lives.

It’s all part of a tidy little package that is often overlooked, as we keep thinking for some reason that God is going to pop up in front of us one day and say’ “Here’s my plan for your life”, and then lay it all out in a well-marked, easy-to-read road map that shows us every single step to take.

Spend time in His word. Read, study, and read some more. Take it in. Absorb it. Read it some more, and get understanding.

Talk to Him. Listen to Him. Talk to Him some more. And then do what He says to do, even in the simplest things.

As we do this, He will begin to lead us, step by step. And each step that we take will lead us closer and closer to “His will for our lives”.
