Bible Verse of The Day – 5-31-18

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) 18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Keeping pride out of our life is a constant battle. We have to be watching ourselves on a regular basis.

There are so many ways we can become prideful. We can be prideful about having a nice car, having well-behaved, smart children, having a large home or material wealth. We can be prideful about wearing name brand clothes, our position or our title, etc.

There are so many things that can make us prideful, but it doesn’t mean we have to be.

How do we fight this and win?

The first step is being aware of the fact that pride is lurking and wanting to take over. The second step is to keep a close eye on our attitude toward certain people and situations. The third step is to address our behavior or attitude if we start seeing signs of pride, even if it seems small and insignificant.

Pride of any type should not have a place in any of us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-30-18

Matthew 10:39 (NKJV) 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

Our lives are not our own. Yes, we can make decisions and choices as to what we want to do each day. We can go here or go there. We can make plans and pursue certain things. But those are just “surface” things.

If we really look at our lives, they were given to us by the One who created us. Our lives are God-given, not the making of any human being.

God has given them to us. And in return, He wants us to give them back, so to speak. No, He’s not asking us to sacrifice our lives literally, dying for Him as a way of thanking Him.

Yes, there may be times when our faith could possibly literally cost us our life, but that’s not what Jesus is referring to here. He is talking about surrendering ourselves to Him on a daily basis, letting Him have eminence over our lives in a way that benefits the kingdom of God.

Repentance, loving others, forgiving those who hurt us, sowing our finances into God’s kingdom, helping those in need of help, showing mercy to those around us and so many other things are all part of laying our lives down and surrendering to Him.

Jesus also mentioned “taking up our cross”.

Luke 9:23 (NKJV) 23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

We “take up our cross” by surrendering to Him. Our cross isn’t a specific thing, like an ailment or affliction, like some might say. An affliction is just that, an affliction. Afflictions are not God’s way of compelling us into surrendering to Him.

Taking up our cross involves all of the things mentioned above regarding serving others and serving God, by making ourselves available to Him, to be used in whatever way He needs us to be used.

Children of God, it’s time for us to lay our lives down, to surrender them to Him in a way that we have never done before.

And as we do this, as we lose our lives for Him, only then will we truly find them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-29-18

John 8:2-5 (NKJV) 2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. 3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?”

This woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. In the day of Moses, the law commanded that she should be stoned to death for this.

The Scribes and Pharisees wanted to see how Jesus would react to this situation.

Jesus’ reaction was not what they had expected. And many times, in our own personal walk with Him, His reaction to things may not be what we thought it would be.

That is why we must go to Him and get His advice and wisdom before we make our decisions. He may have a different outlook on things and a different answer.

When they brought this situation before Jesus, what did He do? He made them look at themselves first.

John 8:7 (NKJV) 7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”

This is a good lesson for all of us. It will teach us to take a look at ourselves before we begin pointing fingers at others for their sins.

No one threw a stone at this woman. One by one, they all walked away. We should do the same. Walk away.

Matthew 7 (NKJV) 1 “Judge not, that you be not judged.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-28-18

John 8:38 (NKJV) 38 I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen with your father.”

Who is our Daddy?

There are two fathers; Jehovah God, full of Truth, and the devil, father of lies.

John 8:44 (NKJV) 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Jesus was speaking to the Jews, His people, those who should have known Him. But they just wouldn’t accept Him. Instead, they wanted to kill Him.

How do we know who we serve?

We pay attention to the things we do; our actions will say a lot. Now, this doesn’t mean that we will be perfect at doing things, even as Believers of Christ. We are going to miss it at times. But, we want to pay attention to the things that we consistently act out and we think are OK.

For instance, if we are learning and growing as a follower of Christ, we will try to be honest in what we do. We will be kind to people, even if they are mean or bitter toward us. We will be a forgiving person. Our intent will always be good and right, even though we may sometimes miss it.

Maybe we are a nasty, angry and spiteful person. Maybe we’re bitter and always wanting things our way, causing contention, and not forgiving others. Well, we need to look at our actions and see if God is really working in us. Are we allowing Him to bring change in our heart? Or are we just playing the role? Roles don’t fly with God.

His Spirit in us will lead us to do good things and convict us into repentance when we do make mistakes. The devil will lead us to do bad things and we will feel no conviction from it. No remorse.

If our flesh does not let God change our heart, our flesh will line up with the devil and he will have more control over us. We will see this by our actions. And those wicked things we ponder on in our minds, we will act out.

Pay attention to the details in ourselves. Those little actions here and there all add up to make the big picture. We can really see who we are when we watch ourselves throughout the day.

How we respond to others and how we act in our own homes, behind closed doors, says it all.

Who are we letting have control over us?

Revelation 3:20 (NKJV) 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Jesus is knocking. It’s up to us to open the door and let Him dine with us today. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-27-18 – Are You Starving?

Please click to watch the video.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

Are you starving?

That’s the title of our newest video. We hope you’ll watch it!

Many of us don’t realize that we’re starving. We know we’re hungry, but we fail to recognize that we are under-nourished. And the reason that we’re undernourished is that we aren’t getting properly fed.

Please click to watch the video now.

We have been there before. We wanted badly to know more of God, but we were malnourished. We had to make a choice.

That choice wasn’t easy, but God gave us what we needed in order to pursue Him with our whole hearts.

Please click to watch the video now.

What about you? Are you being properly fed and nurtured? Are you struggling to grow your relationship with God and your understanding of His word?

Please click to watch the video now.

We hope you enjoy the video and it helps strengthen your walk with God.

Be blessed in all you do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-26-18

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Staying in God’s Word will keep us close to Him.

The devil loves to keep us busy and distracted with a million and one things to do, people pulling on us from every direction, just to keep us out of the word of God. Why? Because God’s Word that we put in us will feed us, fill us and keep us healthy and balanced, moving us forward every day.

It’s not good to give up our time with God to do other things. If we have an emergency, or something comes up and we have to change things up a bit, that’s OK. But, make sure we get our time in with Him. He will start us off every day on the right track.

There have been days when I am completely in a tizzy before I even get out of bed. But as soon as I get myself in the word and in prayer, God just sets me straight. Isn’t He AWESOME?!

You see the enemy will work hard at bringing in distractions even before we get out of bed. Our heads will get so full of thoughts of what needs to be done that we lose our focus before we even start the day.

So, hold the Word close to us. Keep it within reach, so that when we need it, it will be right at our fingertips! Just open it up and start reading.

God is faithful to help us through each day. Stay close to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-25-18

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Most times, when God moves or does something for us, we can never really wrap our heads around how He did it or why He chose to do it the way He did.

That’s because we’re not God!

It’s funny how we as humans keep spending time trying to figure God out. If we could just find it in ourselves to spend that much time pursuing God, instead of trying to figure Him out, we’d be much better off.

You see, our walk with Him should never be based on figuring Him out or trying to completely understand His ways. But, instead, it should be based on drawing near to Him and trusting Him, knowing that He always has our best interests at heart.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-24-18

Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV) 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

No one but God truly knows our heart. He knows it inside and out. And this verse describes the state of every man’s heart.

It doesn’t sound very pretty, does it?

Although many may like to think that this type of heart is only in those people that show themselves by doing bad and evil things, it’s not the case.

And unless we understand this and accept it, we will never get to a place where God can help us.

This is the truth about our own heart, and we need to take it in and hear it personally.

Our hearts need healing, restoration, and purifying every day.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Drawing close to God, and having a humble and repentant heart will help us take care of those things in our heart. His word will help us and He will draw near to us.

He will do a marvelous work on our hearts over time if we will let Him.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-23-18

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Prayer is powerful! Look what God promises when we take these steps.

He says, “my people”, those called by My name.

He’s talking directly to His people. Those who are saved by grace, those of us who are His children through believing and trusting in His Son, Jesus Christ.

We are His children and He is our Father. He’s talking to us.

God wants to bring healing to each one of us today in a big way. But, for Him to do this we must follow the rest of what He tells us to do in these verses.

  1. We must humble ourselves. Accept the fact that we need forgiveness and healing, and know that we can’t do this on our own. We need God’s help.
  1. We must pray and seek Him. Some may say, ” well, He already knows what I need, why doesn’t He just help me?” Because our help comes as we obey. When we follow His steps, we show Him that we are serious about receiving the answers and the help He has for us.
  1. We must repent for the way we have been doing things and then live to change and do it right.

What happens after that? He promises us that He will hear us, forgive us, and heal our land!! Amen.

Do we want healing in our land today? Consider our own lives… our personal land. Is your home in chaos and in need of great restoration?

Is your relationship with God lost?

Are we missing out on our children’s upbringing because we’re too busy working night and day to pay bills, and still never getting ahead?

Are we living as an alcoholic or drug abuser behind closed doors, but still preaching, teaching, and acting like nothing is wrong in the pulpit or among our brothers and sisters?

Are we walking around fornicating, looking at porn, committing adultery and gambling our life away, etc.?

These are some of the things we need to turn from, the sin that is destroying His people, little by little. This sin is active in people who love God and who long to walk closely with Him.

God wants to heal our land. Our nation, and our “personal land”. Let us humbly come to Him in prayer, repenting of our sins and turning from our old ways, accepting His healing for us today. God is our Healer!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-22-18

Romans 5:3-4 (NKJV) 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Perseverance is a very powerful, but often overlooked word that each and every follower of Christ needs to learn and put into practice.

But what is perseverance? We hear the word, but we might not truly understand its meaning and depth in the context of being a child of God.

Perseverance: 1 – steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

2 – To persist in a state, enterprise, or undertaking in spite of counterinfluences, opposition, or discouragement.

Other common words that are associated with perseverance would be dedication, determination, persistence, grit, steadfastness, tenacity.

But here’s the important thing to remember. Our perseverance isn’t based solely on our own ability to endure, but in our faith in God and the strength that He gives us.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

As we walk through life and draw closer and closer to God, He gives us what we need in order to learn to persevere. And this is how He teaches us to press in and push forward in order to obtain our victory.

1 Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV) 24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

So, it’s important that we understand that perseverance isn’t even a factor unless we are in need of it. And if we are in need of it, it’s because we are facing a hard situation.

It’s in these situations where we get to see who we really are and where our faith lies.

It can be pretty scary sometimes, because we may not always like who we see when we are face to face with ourselves.

But don’t fret. Don’t be fearful. And don’t run away. There is not a single one of us that is beyond fixing. There is not a single one of us who God can’t take, make new and then train up to walk boldly with Him.

And as He teaches us perseverance, there is nothing that God can’t walk us through and bring us victory in. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-21-18

Mark 12:41-43 (NKJV) 41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury

The woman in the verses above gave out of her poverty. She gave out of her need, her lack. She could have used those coins to pay for something to sustain her in the natural.

Are we feeling poor and broke today? How many of us think that when things get tough we have to pull back, reduce or stop our giving?

Maybe we owe back taxes or we have debt up to our eyeballs. Maybe we are on the verge of losing everything. Our business may be in the red. Maybe our home is in need of repairs or our car is falling apart. It doesn’t matter what state we are in.

Mark 12:44 (NKJV) 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

If we have something to give, we need to sow that seed today!

It doesn’t matter how big or small it is. Get rid of it and put it in a place where it will grow, where it will come back to you good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over!

God has a place for your seed to be sown today. Ask Him where to put that seed and He will guide you. When you obey, just like this woman did, He will see your heart condition and your faith in Him and He will help you through your time of trial. He is our Provider.

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
