Bible Verse of The Day – 3-31-18

Ephesians 5:15-16 (NKJV) 15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

It’s important that we live cautiously, giving careful consideration to the choices that we make.

Verse 15, above, tells us that doing otherwise is unwise and foolish.

Each choice that we make will impact our lives in one way or another. So we need to choose wisely.

We are told further that we are to “redeem the time”, to make the most of every opportunity that God gives us.

The days are evil. The times we live in are a product of the corrupt world that we live in and the depraved condition of the human heart, as many live their lives in an endless pursuit of pleasures of all sorts.

It’s critical that we live by the Spirit, not by our flesh or our intellect.

Romans 8:13 (NKJV) 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Then and only then can we make wise, godly choices and overcome evil in our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-30-18

Ephesians 5:13-14 (NKJV) 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

Nothing can stay hidden forever. Sooner or later, all things are exposed to light. Light will always cause hidden things to be seen.

As humans, we walk in darkness until God shines His light on us and we allow it to expose who we are; sinners in need of a Savior.

Sometimes we may try to hide, to avoid letting God’s light shine on us because we’re afraid and ashamed of what will be seen.

God’s light exposes evil in whoever it shines on. It’s not so much that He shines His light for the sole purpose of exposing evil. He shines it to remove darkness from our lives. What we do with what is exposed is up to us.

As God’s light touches us, it has the power to be life-changing. It wakes us from our slumber, our dead spiritual condition, and breathes life into our spirit, making us brand new!

This is the greatest miracle of all, that He calls to us, “Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead”!

And as we listen and heed His call, Jesus gives us light, and gives us life anew. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-29-18

Ephesians 5:11-12 (NKJV) 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

As followers of Christ, it’s imperative that we steer clear of the works of darkness.

It’s not just about our reputation being on the line. It’s also about our life reflecting who God is.

Most importantly, though, it’s about our own walk with Jesus. The works of darkness can pull us off course if we’re not able to recognize them and avoid them. These works impact us, whether we realize it or not.

If we are in the presence of the works of darkness, there are spiritual implications in every aspect of that presence. Darkness has one goal; to snuff out the light and lure people away from the Light.

Rather than having fellowship with the works of darkness, God has instructed us, instead, to expose those works for what they are.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that we expose people. It means that we expose the works. It means that we stand strong against it. And it means that we use the authority that we have as believers and rebuke the unfruitful works of darkness, in the name of Jesus.

What’s more, we are not to even speak of these things.

Why? Because it is shameful to do so. Speaking of these kinds of things bears no fruit. It only brings glory to them, causing them to be brought into the spotlight.

And if we’re not careful, we will find ourselves sharing gossip, under the guise of concern, which the Bible clearly warns us about.

Avoid the works of darkness. Expose them, rebuke them and walk in God’s light. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-18

Ephesians 5:8-10 (NKJV) 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

As the apostle Paul continued writing to the Ephesian Christians, he encouraged them to be light to a dark world. He reminded them that they were once darkness, but that God had set them free through Jesus.

Many times, we also need to be reminded of this.

There are two ways that we tend to look back on our past, before we were rescued from our sinful selves by the blood of Jesus and God’s grace.

First, we may look back in shame and guilt.

We can have a tendency to carry our past with us, letting it weigh us down and drag us backwards, away from God. We can get so caught up in the things that we did, and where God has brought us from, that we fail to see who God has made us into and where we are now.

But we need to remember that He has made us brand new in Christ. And when He forgives us of our sins, they are gone forever, removed far from us.

Psalm 103:12 (NKJV) 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Second, we can forget where we came from, and the condition that we were once in.

When this happens, we can sometimes become self-righteous and judgmental of others, completely forgetting that it is only by God’s grace that we have been saved.

We begin looking down our noses at others when we see them committing sins, completely disregarding the fact that we were once in those very same shoes, and we are not saved by our own works or our own righteousness.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

It’s extremely important that we walk as children of light, displaying the fruits of the Spirit (righteousness and truth), learn what is acceptable to God and live this out in our lives.

1 John 1:7 (NKJV) 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-18

Ephesians 5:3-7 (NKJV) 3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Sexual immorality, impurities, greed. Let them not even be named among you.

This is some heavy-hitting stuff. The apostle Paul was very blunt with the Ephesians about this. And oh, how we could use some straightforward talk about these things today!

It’s important that we recognize and understand that Paul wasn’t speaking to the world, unsaved people. He was speaking to the Ephesian Christians! And if it was good for them to hear, it is surely good for us to hear.

Paul then went on to address some other things, such as obscene stories (filthiness), foolish talk and coarse jokes. He bluntly said that these are not fitting for followers of Christ to engage in.

Instead, we should use our mouths to give thanks to God, for His mercy, grace, forgiveness, love and so much more.

You see, it’s important that we understand that no sexually immoral person, no impure person and no greedy person (idolater) will inherit the kingdom of God.

Harsh words? No. Just true words being shared out of love and concern for the body of Christ.

Many times, we try to sidestep these difficult topics because we don’t like what God’s word says. Or we are afraid of hurting someone’s feelings, so we choose to say nothing.

But choosing to say nothing isn’t what we should do. Paul spoke out because he loved the Ephesian Christians! And this is why we share these very tough words today, because we love you and want God’s best for you!

If there are those who would speak empty words to you, to soothe your conscience, pay no attention to them, for they will lead you into God’s wrath.

The ways of the world have crept into the body of Christ and we have begun to embrace some terrible things as being acceptable.

It’s important that we hear the truth, even when it hurts, even when it makes us angry. We can’t correct the error in our lives if we are never told that it’s error. And as long as nobody says anything, we will just coast along, doing what we choose to do.

But we are all accountable to God. We are all responsible for the choices we make as His children.

Let each of us heed His words and His instruction, as well as His warning against these kinds of behavior. Let us seek Him and His forgiveness for our wayward actions and lack of accountability.

God, I seek you and ask for your forgiveness today for the things I have said and done. I have fallen into some terrible behavior and habits. I am truly sorry. Please forgive me and help me to be strong and resist the temptation when it comes. Help me to change my ways and make them pleasing to you. Thank you for loving me and forgiving me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-18

Ephesians 5:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

These two verses are the sum of who we should be as children of God.

Though it is impossible to be 100% like God, He has told us to be imitators of Him in the way we act.

Jesus showed the world a kind of love that no one had ever seen. He put much time and effort into showing God’s love for people by walking it out in person. His love wasn’t fake or simulated. It was genuine.

And it was so pure that most could not understand or comprehend it. It was beyond their ability to make sense of it with human intellect.

Jesus loved to the point of giving His life for us. He spared no expense at proving this love. And when everything was said and done, He commanded us to love one another, even as He had loved us.

John 13:34 (NKJV) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

So who are we to disagree or argue with God? How do we justify not loving others when Jesus himself has commanded us to do so?

We would find ourselves hard pressed to find a suitable excuse or justify our lack of love if we were to stand before Jesus and answer for that lack of love.

We all know that some people are harder to love than others. And some days it’s harder to love anyone than on other days.

But, with the Holy Spirit guiding us, and us obeying Him, our excuses drop like specks of dust in comparison to the love Jesus showed us all.

Church, let’s work hard to love the way God has told us to. It might be hard in the beginning, but as we let Him lead us, and we follow that leading, we will find it getting easier and easier.

Bible Verse of The Day – When Our Hearts Become Hard – 3-25-18

Greetings fellow believers,

Our hearts are like gardens where God plants and sows. And if we want God to be able to plant and sow there, they need to be kept plowed and ready to receive the seeds He is sowing into them.

Sometimes things can happen in our lives that causes our hearts to begin to harden. We just published a new video on this topic, so we hope you’ll take a few minutes and watch it.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Trials and tough times can cause us to become hard. When our prayers don’t get answered, we can become hard. And there are so many other things that can cause us to become hard.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We hope today’s video will help reveal the dangers of letting our hearts harden toward God and toward others around us.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-24-18

Matthew 17:20 (NKJV) 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Having faith the size of a mustard seed gets mountains to move. Wow, that’s great!

So, why are they still there? Why are we still facing the same problems? Shouldn’t they be gone?

We only need a tiny amount of faith to begin to move huge mountains. So, what is so hard? What’s hard is keeping that mustard seed-sized faith consistently trusting in God. We have to believe Him all the way.

We can’t be wavering in our faith. One day it’s there. The next, not so much.

We have to be consistent and steadfast in believing. We have to stay locked in on the word of God if we want our faith to remain strong and consistent.

Listen carefully; some things take a while to come to fruition. We need consistency in our faith. Not up and down. Not in the clouds one day and down in the dumps the next.

No. A steady, head down, focused face-like-a-flint, trusting for God’s provision, knowing He’s going to come through. Amen.

Isaiah 50:7 (NKJV) 7 “For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-23-18

Matthew 22:37 (NKJV) 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

Want to know the secret to living a life of fulfillment?

Want to know what it means to be successful?

How about learning how to love others, even when they don’t love you back?

Want to know how to be blessed in all things?

There are many other things that could be listed here that most of us desire or think are important when it comes to the quality of our lives.

Regardless what it might be that we desire, none of it will matter until we get this one thing right; love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

This might seem like an over-simplification. And it might be when looked at from certain viewpoints.

But, the reality is that if we put God first in everything, and love Him with all our heart, soul and mind, most of the rest of our lives will fall into place. And even if we aren’t overflowing with material blessings, we will love our life because it will be a life built on honoring and loving God.

And nothing gets any better than that.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-18

Psalm 55:17 (NKJV) 17 Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.

Morning time with God is a great way to start the day. But if mornings don’t work for us, for whatever reasons, there are other times. He doesn’t go away or get mad at us just because it doesn’t happen first thing in the morning.

Being determined that we are going to spend time with Him at some point throughout the day is what’s important.

Some of us may have a very busy schedule at times, and we don’t always get to do what we want, when we want.

But if we are determined that we will not let the day go by without spending time in prayer, we will make the time and we will be glad we did!

The key is to tell ourselves, set it in motion and be determined to follow through. We have to make it a priority, or the time will get used up doing other things.

It’s not going to always be the same time, and some days we may have a smaller amount of time in prayer. But, it’s not about the amount of time. It is about making the time. Every little bit HELPS.

God is willing to be there at our convenience and hear our voice, so let’s be willing and determined to meet Him there. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-21-18

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Wouldn’t the world be a different place if we all walked in these fruits of the Spirit?

We need to understand that this fruit doesn’t come by our own efforts. It comes when we allow the Spirit of God to change us and have more of us.

This is His fruit, from His spirit. We can’t work it; meaning we can not do this on our own. We need Him in order to walk in such a way.

The closer we get to Him, the stronger His Spirit lives and shows Himself in us. This will be most evident through our actions.

As we surrender to God, this kind of fruit will operate naturally through us and will draw people to Him. We, His bride, His children, His people, need more of Him and His spirit flowing through us.

How do we get more? We surrender daily, through praying, reading, and hearing.

Isaiah 64:8 (NKJV) 8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
