Bible Verse of The Day – 9-30-22

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Do we want to know whether we are walking in the Spirit or not?

All we need to do is check to see if these fruits of the Spirit are active in our lives.

God is amazing in His provision for us. He not only supplies our needs in the natural, but He supplies our spiritual needs as well.

The fact that the Holy Spirit was sent to earth after Jesus ascended is an incredible gift to each and every one of us.

If we are faithful to follow His (the Holy Spirit’s) leading, our lives will be changed and blessed in more ways than we can imagine!

And as we follow Him more diligently, we will begin to see love, peace, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control becoming more evident in everything we do.

Our grouchy, impatient, selfish, rough old self will begin to melt away into our past.

It’s interesting that verse 23 ends with, “Against such there is no law”.

In many of today’s societies, some of these Spirit-led attributes have almost become illegal as the world has gone crazy with self-centeredness, anger, rage and division.

But as children of God, we know better. And as we walk each day under the leading of the Holy Spirit, we live out the very things that the world says are no longer relevant.

And may all the glory and honor be unto our God. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-29-22

Psalm 34:19 (NKJV) 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.

No one likes to hear the first part of this scripture. After all, who wants to be told in advance that we, the righteous, may have to endure afflictions.

What are afflictions? Things that cause pain or suffering.

As a child of God, we will face things.

Many of us have already been there and seen the Lord’s deliverance in our lives. We could probably share some good stories together.

I would love to write a book of testimonies from those who have seen the hand of God in their lives. He is faithful to the end!

We may all face things, but God promises in His word that He will deliver.

So, we can’t stop up our ears when we see or hear the word, “afflictions”.

We need to know about God’s deliverance and how He is there for us in times of famine and in times of feast.

Let us be real today and know that God has us! Amen.

Isaiah 46:4 (NKJV) 4 Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-22

John 3:34 (NKJV) 34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

John the Baptist had a unique way of speaking. He was not swayed by anyone who tried to influence or intimidate him.

And when he spoke truth, he spoke it boldly. God had prepared him to be a force to be reckoned with.

In the verse above, he spoke a truth that caught my attention. And I will admit that I had never seen this before today.

In this verse, he was not referring to himself, but about Jesus; the One whom God had sent.

Let’s take a closer look at it.

John started out by stating, “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God”.

He wanted others to know that when Jesus spoke, He was speaking the words of God.

Jesus Himself stated more than once that His words were not His own, but the words of the Father.

John 12:49 (NKJV) 49 For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.

But take note of what John said toward the end of the verse; “God does not give the Spirit by measure”.

This means that Jesus was given the fulness of the Holy Spirit, not just a measure of it.

The Father wanted Him to be fully, amply equipped for the task He had ahead of Him, not lacking anything.

And it is evident that He absolutely was fully equipped when we look at His life and the things He carried out while He was here on earth.

Jesus was God and man, rolled into one; the only human to ever walk perfectly His entire life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-27-22

John 14:15 (NKJV) 15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

Our love for Him will show through our obedience and our devotion to Him.

This is something that takes time to learn. But as we walk it out, we will get stronger and better at it.

The first thing to do is get in His word and read it.

Get to know who our God is and what He expects. Don’t just wait for the ministers to teach us. Get in it and read it.

The Holy Spirit will touch our hearts and guide us as we put forth the effort.

Who is God?

Go after Him. Learn His heart and what makes Him tick. Then we can show Him our love by following His way.

His commandments are written throughout His word. And in every situation we face, He has the answer.

He has it, and we will know for sure what that answer is if we stay close to Him.

How do we show our love to Him?

We know Him intimately enough to respond to any given situation in the proper way; the way that He guides us.

Love Him and keep His words close, dear to us, and written in our hearts. Let the Holy Spirit help us stay focused and on track.

Our obedience toward His word shows Him how much we love Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-26-22

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

As the time for Jesus to be crucified drew closer, He tried to help His disciples understand why these things must happen.

First, and what most people would view as most important, was Christ’s atoning death on the cross. His shed blood opened the door for our sins to be forgiven, and for us to have a one-on-One relationship with the Creator of heaven and earth.

Without the death of Jesus, this would be impossible.

This is indeed the most critical aspect of what he did when we look at it from an eternal perspective.

Additionally, Jesus would be resurrected. And then, after spending time with the Disciples, He would leave.

Now, this is where we see the part that’s extremely important to believers who are still alive here on earth; the sending of the Holy Spirit to be our Helper (literally, our Comforter).

The Holy Spirit is critical to our walk with God.

He gives us discernment. He guides us. He shows us things that we would otherwise never know by our natural understanding.

Jesus assured His disciples that it was imperative for Him to leave them.

Why?

Because if He didn’t go, the Holy Spirit would not be able to come.

John 16:7 (NKJV) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives helps us to live beyond what our own natural abilities would allow us to do.

This applies to some things in the natural. But it is much more important from a supernatural (spiritual) point of view, since the enemies and the battles that we face are spiritual at their core.

We need to be sure we are allowing the Holy Spirit to work and move in our lives. Trying to walk this earth as a follower of Christ without His leading and guiding is futile, to put it mildly.

We desperately need Him every minute of every day. It’s just a fact of life.

Surrender to the Holy Spirit today. Let Him work in you, help you, lead you, guide you, comfort you and strengthen you.

Once we fully understand this, our lives will be forever changed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-24-22

John 14:14 (NKJV) 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Lining our hearts up with God’s will for our lives will cause us to ask for the right things.

In order to do that, we also need to know Who God is and what He wants to do through us and for us.

When we pray, lay our request before Him. And then thank Him even before we see any results.

Thank Him because of His Faithfulness! And be confident that He will do what is good and right for that situation.

Ask Him for the things we need, but don’t just stop there. Remember others and their struggles. Pray for their needs as well.

Remember our country, our pastors, our family and our employment. Remember our place of education for ourselves or our children. And don’t forget those who God has brought into our lives; our friends.

It’s the people and things that God has blessed us with we should take very seriously and pray for.

Jesus took the time to pray for His disciples. He was focused in His prayer on those the Father had put in His life.

John 17:9 (NKJV) 9 “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours.

As we pay attention to the Holy Spirit during our prayer time, He will guide us in our prayers, and He may impress someone or something on our hearts that we are not aware of.

As believers, through diligent prayer, we can do much. And Jesus is ready to answer!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-23-22

Romans 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

We are to owe no one anything except to love one another.

There’s a lot we can learn from this.

If we truly love others, and we treat them like we love them, many problems will disappear.

Think about it.

If we truly love others, and we treat them based on our love for them, we will no longer steal from them. We will no longer covet what they have. We will no longer commit adultery.

We will no longer murder. We will no longer lie to them or gossip about them. We will no longer make false accusations against them.

You see, love fixes all of those sins. Why? Because if we love others as ourselves, we will want nothing but what God desires for them. Therefore, we will not want to harm them in any way.

Matthew 22:39 (NKJV) 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

Love is the foundation for all of this. It is what causes us to look beyond selfish desires and put others first.

Romans 13:10 (NKJV) 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

And what is it that allows us to love this way?

We can love this way only by the power of God in our lives. He is the source of this kind of love.

Let’s walk with God. Draw near to Him. Learn of Him. And let His love flow through our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-22-22

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV) 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

If we are going through a time or season of change, and we are not sure what the outcome is going to look like, just remember the words above and keep our eyes on God.

Have faith that He will help us each day and it will come about accordingly, in His time.

If we continue to try and find peace in anything other than Him, we will exhaust ourselves and miss out on a lot of wonderful things.

It’s in Him, who makes it all beautiful, that we will find perfect peace. We will find stability once again when we trust Him with the change we’re facing.

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

Growing up, I found peace and stability in my home, my family, my friends and my surroundings. But, guess what!

There comes a day when that changes. And then what?

I have tried to find it over and over again in things and people, only to learn that I would be looking forever.

Why? Because nothing ever stays the same. Even the things I found stability in would change again eventually.

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

There’s only One who is the same yesterday, today and always. That is my Lord God!

It is in Him where we will find everything beautiful, stable, loving, and fulfilling. Amen.

If you are searching for peace in your life once again, learn to secure it in Him alone. Everything changes from time to time and if we don’t change with it, we will be stuck in a rut and missing out on the beauty of life through Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-21-22

Philippians 4:11-13 (NKJV) 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

As I was busy doing some things around the house today, the Holy Spirit dropped some things into my spirit to share with all of you. He initially spoke about contentment, and then He began to expand on that, giving me some new insights. So, let’s take a look.

Over the years, Pastor Ellie and I have learned a lot about learning to be content in whatever situation or season God has led us into. This was a hard lesson to learn at the onset, especially when we walked through seasons of financial drought and famine.

Nobody enjoys those types of seasons.

But it was during those very trying seasons where He slowly transformed our minds, through His word and the leading of His Spirit, helping us to better understand what He means by contentment.

As hard as it was in some aspects, it was very easy in other ways. It’s tough to explain fully, but suffice it to say that God showed us ourselves so we could see where we thought we were content, but we were really seeking after things that He didn’t want for us.

A lengthy season of famine is a good teacher!

And the things we learn from those seasons will stay with us for the rest of our lives even though they may be painful to look back at.

Again, nobody enjoys tough seasons, but they are valuable assets to our walk with God if we allow Him to teach us. His wisdom is infinite!

It’s usually down the road a bit, when we look back, that we begin to get understanding as to why God orchestrated things the way He did. And if we don’t get that understanding right away, we will see it later at some point if we allow Him to show us.

For the final point today, take a look at how Paul ended this group of verses; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

At first, this little statement may seem rather disconnected from the words preceding it. But if we look closely, it’s actually a huge nugget of wisdom that he’s sharing.

It is Paul’s faith in Christ that allows him to be content in all situations!

Once our faith in Christ is firmly rooted, our contentment lies in Him, not in our situations or our material possessions.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-20-22

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

The first sentence in this verse tells us to “fear not”.

Why? Because “I am with you”.

He knows our emotions will cause us to fear at times. It’s a normal reaction.

It’s not always a bad thing to feel fear. It’s all in what we do with it.

How will we handle it?

Will we let it grip us and keep us so we can’t make a move? Or will we take it and act in a way that will allow God to help us handle it?

Have we ever noticed how fear can show us who we are and what we are made of?

For instance, we may be afraid to address someone, or we may be afraid to make a move to do a specific task. Maybe we are afraid to be around a certain crowd, we may feel intimidated by them.

Fear will show us ourselves if we pay attention. It will show us our weakness.

This is going to sound funny, but don’t be afraid when fear approaches.

Reach out to the One who can help.

He is with us; He will strengthen us and help us. He will uphold us with His hand.

If we hide behind fear, we will never get help to move past it.

Praise God today for His righteous right hand! Amen.
